Treachery of the Goldhand Clan

For centuries, the Dwarven virtue of Greed, as well as our worship of its patron, Grimdugan, has been misunderstood. Younger Dwarves, eager to gain wealth or to lead lives as thieves or brigands, will often invoke these sacred traditions to justify their base actions.

However, in this rhetoric, those dwarves  forsake our valuable traditions of honor and loyalty. They commit these most heinous crimes for nothing more than  a few extra mina.

There is no greater atrocity to Grimdugan than to use his name for the pursuit of evil and the intentions of Khorvad. It saddens me to say, however, that Rylanor Goldhand, son of the great Dorimnur Goldhand, and Torsun Goldhand, Elder of Clan Goldhand, have done just that.

In a war of a coalition of free peoples standing up to the oppressive Empire of Oren, these two dwed have chosen to forsake their country, their kin, and all of their allies. They have chosen to make business with our enemies, going so far as to sell to them the very weapons Oren uses to kill the members of the Tripartite.

For what purpose or end does Clan Goldhand swear off their kin? What lofty goal have they gained for their treason? A tavern. What great betrayal or imagined slight does Clan Goldhand have to justify this? Nothing. There have been no crimes or injustices declared against the clan. There have been no demands that must be met. Instead they make this deal only because they saw profit in it.

With this revelation, comes too several declarations:

THE IMPERIAL-GOLDHAND CONTRACT IS OFFICIALLY DECLARED AN ACT OF TREASON. To declare neutrality with the enemy, and worse yet sign yourself off to their protection is a brazen act of treason against all Urguan, her vassals, and her allies.

Rylanor Goldhand is officially stripped of all titles he holds in Urguan, and is declared an enemy of the state. He has been captured and awaits trial before the High Courts of Urguan, which will take place the stone day this declaration.

Torsun Goldhand is officially stripped of all titles he holds in Urguan, and is declared an enemy of the state. As he is still at large, the Grand Kingdom offers a bounty of 500 mina for his capture. He is to be taken Alive, so that he might face proper trial.

Clan Goldhand, by majority vote of the Grand Council, has had its rights to a vote on the Grand Council temporarily revoked.

All remaining Goldhands are hereby called to appear before the Grand King and the Grand Council, where they will be given the opportunity to publicly disavow Rylanor and Torsun and denounce the agreement they made, in order to save both their own honor and the honor of Clan Goldhand.

Kosher Daesmon, a former Urguani National himself, would look over the missive with a keen eye, debating it. “So they declare neutrality, betraying their brothers, and refuse to have their blood run over the fields in a useless conflict. These lads are either above average and below average intelligence. Whatever it is, they’ll have a tough time from here.”

Lev quietly sews a doll of Gildroc Goldhand, unaware of what's happening, as the memoryless man is sewing based on flashes of memory. "This doll is kind of cool." He sets the Gildroc doll down, staring at it. Why does the name Goldhand sound so familiar for the former guild worker?

Thulmyr Frostbeard sat in the tavern, just having let a self-proclaimed loyal Goldhand into Urguan, when he read the missive "Et es a 'ard punishment, bu' a fair one if yer ask meh, maybeh too fair.". He would get himself another bottle of ale and grumble "Traitahs dey are, I 'ope dey foind Torsun soon enoug', 'n othawise oi'll go foind 'im meself.", still visibly angry at his once trusted friend and Yemekar's Pick.

Kronk grumbled and shouted out in anger as he slammed his hammeraxe into the table he was sitting at. "OI WILL FOIND YEEH TORSUN, AND YEH BEST PRAY TOH TAEH GODS OI DONNAEH CHOP YER HEAD OFF ONCEH OI DOH!" The Grand Marshal then grabbed his weapons in preparations to head off.

A lord of gold sits deep below, embraced within Grimdugan's shadow...one could swear they heard a harmony rising up from the far depths...barely above an echoed whisper.

Merida's usual cheer and rosey smile fades as she hears of the missive. Even she in the spring of her youth felt the accursed draw of glitter and gold, and muttered a thankful prayer that her dedication to her Clan saved her from a similar and all too possible path.

"Es a damn shame. T'ere's nuthin proidful en watchen' our lads fall tuu tha curses o' our people. Me 'eart es with those tha' be 'urtin from this."

Grimdal Irongut would, like most of his kin that lived within Kal'Darakaan, have heard of the betrayal before the release of the official statement. He couldn't believe it at first because it didn't make any sense. Did Urguan, even if it decided to give over a piece of land to Oren, not have land enough for the Goldhands? Did they not have enough means to simply move their tavern? He rubbed away some sweat from his brow as he scribbled in his notebook. "Oi 'ope dah Brathmordakin may guide dah Goldhands en times tah come..." he muttered to himself.

Theroden shakes his head. “A shame. I had thought Torsun a good fellow. I am glad to see the proper action being taken. Thus always to traitors.”

Remon sighs a little sadly. He has reached the Svarling camp, but finds himself too late.

So they are ousted for not wanting to partake in war? They are not bound to their kin, though they should have expected a negative reaction. I'm amazed at the stupidity of the individual who was captured, frankly. I wish Torsun good luck in his.. running.

"'free peoples standing up to an oppressive empire', did people forget that the coalition was invading Oren and trying to place a puppet on the throne or are we just going around telling lies now?" Manfred would wonder

Meanwhile....

Torsun Goldhand enjoys a nice cup of Arrowhead Lager whilst watching on to a mock jousting event within the town he was now residing in.

"Ahh... now tis be a loife I could get used to."

The gold dwarf smiled.
