"Excellent!" cooed Adela of High Peak, her lips pressed in a soft grin- remembering fondly the time she'd met the Haeseni king and his, at the time, bride-to-be.

Fabian Kortrevich pins the missive to the frame of the wall above his desk, so he might never enter nor rise from his chair without remembering whom he serves. He sits, then, at the chair; the ornate script above his head, the endless rolls of parchment before him.

For the Crown, he thinks. For the Queen. For the hearth.

He sets, once more, to his duty.

A young Walter Weiss was at home, carefully maintaining each chain link in his mail. He thought ponderously, upon what his new king would bring to the realm. However, he did not have to think long.

He called back to the prince's words to him. Harsh, ever though they were to the proud young lad's ego, he believed that the prince was a wise and true soldier, like his own father, Audo. Walter saw much of himself in the prince, in a way- or atleast, what Walter wanted himself to become.

He looked to the Brotherhood banner that flew in his room. He thought of the shoes he would be expected to fill in his own life, and wondered if the Prince felt the same anxiousness at the prospect. But that didn't matter. He had made a promise to the prince, by his honor.

To the Last.

Spoiler

An old Ayrian peasant named David MacDuff looked up in the sky as news of the former King's death and the subsequent rise of Alexander II reached the farm he worked on.

"Ain't no change in the weather," he muttered, picking up his pitchfork and going back to work.
