High banners did wave,

And the horses did trot,

Army, onward marched,

To that field which they sought.

Skyward dam opened gates,

Heaven’s eyes they did cry.

Lightning painted the clouds,

Thunder rolled over skies.

Shadows loomed ever closer.

The horses in armor 

Riders assembled.

They probed our defense,

Looking for weaknesses.

Their arrows found flesh,

Gifted by foolishness

They slayed one by one,

Armor did slow us up.

And they stuck us with spears,

Cut us while we reared.

Like Fate’s quaking hand 

had given commands.

And the earth trembled.

Shadow loomed ever closer.

The edge of night,

Mist blocked out the light,

Sweat, tears, and blood,

The blood shrouded the mud.

Drank the poison this day,

Men died as they strayed.

Then finally we broke,

Their hands had their choke.

And we fled with our lives,

Our pride left behind,

 dying littered the ground,

the price scattered about.

And the earth trembled.

Shadows loomed ever closer.

The anguish resounded,

Down fell the hounded.

They closed all around us,

Making fields deepen blush.

The grass tainted red,

crimson rocks on the hill.

The dead that they housed,

Some were echoing still.

Whilst very, very annoying at time, I had a lot of fun writing and recording this song. A HUGE shout out who @MapleSunflowerfor toiling over this work- without her, it would simply be another poem with some melody stuck in my head. But she made it a reality! I was really hoping to record this myself, however, mic difficulties lead to another voice being the forefont. (Thank you again, Maple.) 

 

 In war, people win and lose... the Coalition lost this time and there should be marks in history to represent that. We just have fun with it all. I do hope everyone enjoyed it.

Queen Catherine I sat by the fire in the square of Vallagne, slowly sharpening her blade as she listened to the song that her new knight had written. Some battles were won, and others lost. The Petrans would remember it all, their sorrow and their glee, through the songs and poems of Sir Marius, "The Wordsmith".

Sir Theoderic von Theonus listened intently as the ballad carried through the square of Vallegne. He'd close his eyes and reflect on battles past. "The duo worked hard to put this together and it came out wonderfully. May it serve as a reminder of a challenge we simply cannot repeat." 

 

After some time, the resourceful knight said a quick prayer for fallen comrades and opened his eyes. He returned his focus to preparing for future battles.
