Do you want the Undead to return?

  1. 1. Do you want the Undead to return?

    • I would like it if the Undead returned as well as the Ascended
    • I would want a good & evil to be implemented instead of the Undead/Ascended
    • I do not want the Undead re-implemented at all
    • I believe it should stay as it is, without an evil/Undead

Well, Blunder, may we hear a small, around half a paragraph, of what they will be, so we can decide?

I think that the Good/Bad conflict definitely needs to be in the server- it gives anybody a common enemy and a purpose for everybody in the server that they can help to achieve (e.g defeating the other side) and it would definitely bring back some really good Rp and some nice events.

Just don't bring back the Undead or ascended we need something new-something original!

Just my opinion...

Here to flesh out my idea (Seen udner the main post)

Why not just have every nation have its own little personal evil threat?

And that nations has to deal with them 24/7 and keep them in check. Like a Cult in Oren attempting to toppel Oren and then Auslon under thier "God" and If they win enough encounters they slowly become a Global threat and then The Nation that was the orginal defneder must seek help or the Threat will spiral out of control. ANd once the people unite to slay that evil the evil dies down (TO a point not competly) and due to the other nations helping the Main nation agasint that Threat thier personal Nation threats have slowly grown into more threats of time. And the cycle keeps going up and down. And its all up to the Rp and how everything is done. If the Nation's own personal Evil threat becoem a temp. Global threat on not. And the Personal nation threats can be, Powerful Bandit gangs, Slavers, Undead, Corrupted people, Cults, crazies. Anything really.

(Sorry for grammer and such school Computers are SLOW)

So, I got to thinking after reading some posts and such and I had an idea. What if the Undead were to return but the Ascended did not, people would rally to the only living Ascended in Asulon. These Ascended could perhaps choose a few champions for each race/nation (good roleplayers that they know) and teach them what it is to fight Undead, how it's done. These warriors would not earn the power/magic of the Ascended but they would have a vast knowledge on how to destroy the Undead. The champions would be sort of like trained Undead-slayers, the phalanx of the battles against the Undead. I dunno...it's rather undeveloped but if it gets positive feedback I'll be happy to take it further.

There are I think 3-4 ascended left....even though blunder says I was taken off the scroll ;)

There are four ascended left, five if you count tot who hasn't been on in a while.

Hiebe, we have spoken about this, you were banished for unjust actions to our cause, leading an entire clan out of power, using axes and swords when you weren't allowed to and also doing villainous deeds.

This happened before the end of Aegis, not after.

Shoi was very clear with this Hiebe.

The problem about saying "oh let's not bring the ascended back" is that you are contradicting yourselves here by saying that. All of you are going, "we don't want scripted events" yet you want to dictate it before it even begins.

The ascended have never left Asulon, they have never stopped serving, we are still here, we have ligitimate rp reason to come back. But... you are trying to deny RP before this even gets off the ground? Right... yeah see this is what happened the first time and look what happened there. People thought they could dictate it the way they see fit but instead just broke lore and made it even more crappy, that's what happened with GM's, that's what happened with some players.

Your breaking lore right there by saying "don't bring the ascended back" you do know that... Or have you not read the lore of the server which is kind of a requirement to play propperly I might add.

What I meant by Ascended not coming back is that either A. they do not receive their powers again or B. they do not have the ability to teach others to be Ascended. I did not mean to inhibit RP nor try and say that you can not do either A. or B., it's just a scenario.

Personally I'd like to see them return, but with different circumstances. At first, let only GM's and server veterans be members at first, like it was when Charlie4vb and MrZombez ran the undead. Only trusted members of the community would be allowed to join both undead and ascended. Also, make the confrontations more RP. Don't have a few people in the undead just /shout a few lines and then have the entire force rain lightning from the heavens. That's not fun for anyone but them. Other than these few things that need improving, I think they did a great job to the RP of the server and they were the reason I stayed for so long.

You also have to realise though that quite a lot of the gms bar a few either don't have the time or do rp that is sub standard due to the fact that they are also busy and drained from their other roles. Also... There was no gms near the end on the undead side which could probably be part of the reason why the undead fell out of favour so much. Although it does help if the other gms actually cared to inform the undead of what is going on etc.

Right, so here's my thing with the community whining about the ascended races being more powerful than their mortal characters.

Honestly guys... Suck it up. So, an undead could probably kick the crap out of your character 1 on 1. He could do the same to mine too.

The way I see it, having everyone equally powerful is stupid. At the moment we have '18 year old master swordsmen' on par with arena champions and dark brotherhood dudes. In my opinion, if you've spent the last few months sitting around in the Mage's guild super secret headquarters, maging around and blowing up vases, messing with peoples heads, etc, your character should be able to absolutely mop the floor with your average guard.

And on that note, guard captains should, in most cases, be able to whip their subordinates into shape. With force. There's a reason they're captains, guys.

The champion of the Asulonian gauntlet (btw, when are we having another one of those again?) should be able to beat down your average warrior blindfolded and dizzy.

It's really kind of an achievement system. Want to be stronger? I know this may sound crazy to some of you, but go do stuff, get actual rp experience, instead of pulling stuff out of your ass. Go catch that wolf on Adyton, go participate in arena tournaments, join a well known guild. The reason that the ascended were stronger than you? They spent a lot of time rping, and working on their characters. In other words, they earned it.

The current system of 'stronger than me? lololol powergame!' is ridiculous. It's not convenient, and it's not realistic.

Tldr; Power should be earned through rp, some people are more powerful than others, and screaming powergame or whining on the forums every time you lose is stupid and childish.

Deep breath

End of rant.

Ummm as for the High Elves, they are being removed because players simply don't like them. For some reason the vast player base see them as WRONG (god forbid elves act like elves!) and want them removed and will push their RP in such ways to remove them. The constant raids and warclaims on them is evidence of that.

I'm sorry Blundermore, but that arguement holds little weight. When you put in a villain application, you knew first hand that you were giving up regular RP and such to make sacrifices for everyone else. There's no way you didn't realize that playing Undead was going to be a permanent thing.

Cataris made a good point. After a while, people just ignored the undead. This was before the GMs had to take drastic actions. They had to force the player base to fear them by destroying Oren and Alras with godmodded events.

That didn't spark the 'great RP experience' that they thought it would. We simply ignored it in Laurelin. Basically saying, "why bother? If they are going to destroy us, it will happen, oh well... if not great." It loses the suspense when you have no control or effect on the situation.

And without god mode, how could they (undead or great evil) possibly threaten the nations? They'd need the best RPers and players to play them right? They are not going to get all of them since players are already established and wouldn't want to move. So their numbers will be very few. One warclaim that involves multiple nations ends the threat.

Have to figure out where they are coming from? That will be figured out in about a day from random explorers. Word spreads fast in LotC. Even when its not meta'gamed. 5 days later, a warclaim happens and poofs them. Yay we all go back home and go back to fighting each other again.

The only way this could work is if its more subtle and they get their hands around certain positions. And this doesn't need to be a GM sponsored group to do this. I've said that before, and no one wanted to take up my challenge on that.

No one in the playerbase has the stones to make an organization that could be ran by the players instead of undead/bloodmages. I've given that challenge before, no one accepted it. Well the gauntlet is thrown yet again. If the players can't take the challenge then the idea of a great evil shouldn't be done, since you just won't have the playerbase to fill it. The fact that the players are unwilling to even try should be a red flag.

Well prove me wrong players, lets see what you got?

Lets do this.
