  4. "What is to be made of metal imitations of the Children of Horen that can commit sinful acts but bear no soul to face divine punishment in the afterilfe? What is to be made of a thing that can do evil but face no true consequence?" Serwa thought deeply, then sent the letter onto the good Father Callahan, hoping to hear his views. @Fleeperpriest

  8. if it is honest, I've already given my thoughts on how utterly insane the reasoning is
  9. My original point stands. As Java said, it's utterly insane to shelve an active CA on the pretence of 'I've spoken to Fjarrigua' (only, as far as I can tell, inactive/oldplayer folks who think the CA is unfixable whilst the new players believe the opposite and have worked with LT management to bring the vision about), and on the notion of 'ET could do it better', because that's true of just about every CA.
  10. fair enough, hiding the previous comment
  11. This is exactly the wrong time to be talking about shelving. Jokul have recently been accepted pending admin approval; Frost Catalysts are accepted pending approval, and the amendment pack Agyrn posted has been accepted. We've been working in tandem with LT management (Islamadon) who has been helping with useful amendments; indeed, that was his proposed course of action in the feedback from the recent rewrite. The Fjarrigua should not be shelved for doing as LT recommend. I would also note that though you claim you spoke to Diogen, after a brief word with them, you did not tell them the purpose of the brief question you asked, and as far as I know have not spoken to any active Fjarriagua players, instead speaking to old-style doomer players who think the CA is inherently unfixable. But this is not true. The Fjarrigua community is not inactive. Do not steal the CA out from under the active and slowly repairing community, especially when it's following Lore Team managament advice on how to fix their lore.
  12. The now Lector Serwa read through the published letter. She tapped the pen against her smiling lips, pondered, and wrote a brief reply. To the good Father Callahan, It is as you say. The insight you have provided will sustain my spirit. I will make sure to repent for my frustration soon, but I wished, first, to offer you my thanks for your analysis of the vision; as ever, you remain the teacher. You have given me much to think about. We should speak further regarding this matter, especially the matter of the beacon. I am, as ever, to be found in Petra. Your friend, - Lector Serwa
  13. The scent of burnt spruce fills the air. You open your eyes, and see yourself sitting in a wooden chair in a ramshackle hut, with a campfire burning before you. A window to your side reveals the hut to be placed on the top of a hill, overlooking a spruce forest; in the distance, a winding, vast stone staircase leads high into the clouds, partially obscured by fog. Your attention is pulled, forcefully (you know not what by) back to the fire. The flames crackle, grow black - and a creature briefly materialises… …before vanishing. The flames return to normal. Your heart briefly stops - sweat pulses your brow, and your body shakes. The door opens; a white-haired, golden-eyed elf enters, standing behind you. You see the knife rest against your throat, feel it as it cu- ———«»————————————«»————————————«»——— A familiar scent fills the air. You open your eyes, and see yourself sitting in the same wooden chair in the same ramshackle hut, with the same campfire burning before you. The familiar window to your side shows, once more, the hut to be placed on the top of a hill, overlooking a spruce forest; in the distance, the winding, vast stone staircase leads high into the clouds, partially obscured by fog. Nothing has changed. You blink confusedly, before once more, your attention is pulled, forcefully (still, you know not what by) back to the fire. The flames crackle, grow black - and again, creature briefly materialises… …before vanishing. The flames return to normal. You knew it was coming, but it did not matter; your heart briefly stops, sweat pulsing the brow of your shaking body. There is, it seems, no bravery to be found in this little hut. The door opens; a white-haired, golden-eyed elf enters, standing behind you. You see the knife rest against your throat, brace yourself even as you feel it as it cu- ———«»————————————«»————————————«»——— The cycle repeats. Each time the circumstance the same, but the creature unique; each time a monster you've never seen before, a creature utterly unique, realised only by your mind. The cut remains constant - the elf, silent and murderous, never leaves. Eventually, after what feels like an endless span of time, you wake - sweat glistening your brow, heart thumping for dreamt horror.

i think they're a relic of an older time on lotc, even though i preferred to leave people alive on my siliti after a feed it felt like an incessant chore every week to log on and instead of do interesting evil guy rp like manipulating a nation or making floating islands i think "fucks sake i have to ******* feed" and then i have to go and inconvenience someones day with rp neither of us want to be a part of. ST also revealed upon the shelf of siliti that the vast majority of the community hadn't even fed in months and was not roleplaying the consequences. is that a problem with the community or the fact that such a system is nigh impossible to moderate and enforce?

despite all this i do not see an alternative to feeding mechanics.

cool idea and from a balance standpoint it's pretty necessary, but it can be a little difficult to work around if you end up busy irl after making the commitment. it can be pretty frustrating being forced to make your character start to starve because of circumstances beyond your control. not to mention it can get a bit repetitive having to set aside time to effectively do the same scene over and over every week or so, which can suck the fun out of the ca a little bit. there's definitely a need for it, and it's a great lore tidbit that adds an element of moral ambiguity to something that might otherwise be all benefits, but it wouldn't hurt to adjust how it works to add more variety to feeding scenes and to accommodate for schedule issues - can't really think of how you'd do that though

    4. Jentos

      Jentos

tried to make them real for varg lore and it just created issues. as others say, its a relic of a different time that'd need to be revamped conceptually to be feasible.
