Current Chancellor of the Republic: Leo Rieter

The engine research goes well. More and more improvements found on the daily for the men and women working hard on their beloved project. Although some experiments end in failure, it is a process and it happens to the best researchers no doubt. Investments into perhaps the next generation of fusion engines are made, and quite heavily so. On a side note, another group of scientists brings forward the possibility of deflectors! These deflectors being the first big step towards ship shielding excites government officials, engineers, and scientists alike.

All transmissions interrupted! The Senate has convened in an emergency congress due to fiscal irresponsibility. It is rumored the military’s pell mell spending policy has become a point more then contention. One where the economy now is under dire stress. Though secure, the H’wong Nation is broke. In a unanimous vote the Senate allocates all funding to.... making more funds!

(5 | 12 RP) Artificial gravity research is continued, it’s not exactly prioritized but a necessary feat the same. The Tintra republic is asked if they could lend some assistance, they’ll be paid. (2,000 C, 10 Supplies)

(5 RP) War and with it innovation, in order to become even more maneuverable to fight their foe they’ll need to arrive in other systems faster. Ideas of all kinds are brought up with the most likely one being warp. The ability to manipulate space around you and propel you at such a speed is a highly sought after thing now-a-days. Maybe the Tintra are interested in doing this together? - The exploration ship zooms through the alien system. Paying little to no heed to hails or other craft, it travels to the moon colonies and their homeworld, scanning as it goes. Any information gathered is good. Biological data, useful intelligence on politics, defensive capabilities... and things worth LOOTING.

- A frigate is dispatched to capture one of the alien satellites for analysis back on Na-Khadiim. Hopefully it will better indicate the level of technology the aliens possess.

- With little heed for if they are seen or not, Na-Khadiim and the civilian fleet move to carry out their usual actions in a system. Mining asteroids for supplies etc. They make no aggressive move toward the aliens, but are comfortably “making themselves at home” in the aliens’ home system.

- 50,000 Regulars recruited. Warriors, born into the clan or who joined it as outcasts, make ready to seize some booty. As is the right of the strong and ambitious. (1M 1S)

- Assault Ship constructed. Much of the vessel’s “hull” is actually hundreds of dropships bound to a skeletal frame. When all its raider dropships are released it resembles a half eaten sea-beast with its rips exposed and belly missing.(6M)

- Light Cruiser constructed. The largest vessel yet in the dedicated military fleet of the Clan, but still massively dwarfed by Na-Khadiim. (9M)

- Continued research into Ship Stealth (4R) (14R saved)

National Activity:

Magnus strode towards the final vessel in a flight of five that were prepared for takeoff, his jacket flapping behind him due to the roaring engines of each of the craft. He turned about, facing Sophos with only about a foot to separate the duo. He reached his arms around the man, the holster on Magnus’ right hip pressing against Sophos as he was still getting used to carrying a weapon. They separated from one another, looking at one another in the eye.

“Ad Victoriam. Brother.”

Magnus couldn’t help but laugh as he patted Sophos’ shoulder before planting his hand there.

“Ad Victoriam.”

They each knew what had to happen. Not for humanity, but for survival. For the Union.

Xe0zCNNIa6h8EN05g1OAALYWR3WGOHmTDrLZpf-UxTQjhnmL04-9TIgByZzYlXH5L3XDWnJc2xOGF7UZTgJ9y8oM3gi9c_ASJloFAHMSdhnS7BM1IPupZCG9aDYhzlWl932NhG7i

The engines of each craft streaked through the gaps of the skyscrapers that were all too abundant in the capital of Vilgius. As pre-arranged, all sky-lanes in Vilgius had been closed for the duration of their operation, ensuring a straight and clear path directly towards The Spire.

Within one of the crafts, Magnus looked to either of the men beside him. Each was little more than a member of their local policing force, though they were still adorned in a full kit of riot gear, something to intimidate those that would try to stand against them. Magnus was confident in not only himself but the men around him. They had stuck with Sophos despite the council’s treason, and Sophos had trusted every last one of them. That was good enough for Magnus.

The landing pads of The Spire were quickly overwhelmed with the craft. No urgent defenses responded as proper clearance was given by each pilot, though upon exiting the vessels around sixty men stormed out of all five craft in total, Magnus taking up the rear. The guards that were currently on duty raised their weapons as each man exited, looking for potential targets if need be. That was until Magnus parted the grouping of loyalists and approached the guard who was, as expected, gobsmacked to the see the dead councilman.

“We’re going to need to get in there. Think you can help us out?”

As expected with such a company, the elevator ride up the several dozen levels of the spire was quite cramped. With nearly a dozen total of Magnus’ retinue with him, every lone guard that they had confronted laid down their arms without much of a question. It was clear what had happened the moment they saw Magnus alive and well.

Though, an issue arose when they attempted to enter the council chamber. It seemed no one had proper access to it, a new security measure made by the council after Magnus’ departure. The neighborhood tech guru attempted to splice the lock, though was soon butted aside by Magnus who withdrew his ‘master key’, as he put it. A lone round through the center of the locking mechanism in the door allowed the men to pry it open with ease, sliding either door to the side and allowing the group their entrance.

tccExFBZL9idqANEC7cYB1INNj65MmoPnePa9eQvjPx-pYL_iowOhp7Tj9q8j5sV7-Tx_xNygeEALJtBqj1sU3GoheH3QLCuAO6eqEM0Td0Fxs8X9vv5Mwgn0eAFPeWbC5jvGNVj

It seemed as if they had caught the rest of the council in mid-discussion of their current topic of debate. Though the audible gunshot quite obviously had spooked them as all ten remaining members found themselves behind their desks. With haste, each of the ten men were rounded up and placed within the center of the council chamber, some of which suffering a few broken noses or scraped knees as they attempted to resist the loyalists.

A particularly distraught looking councilman looked up at Magnus, his lower lip split open and a heavy welt forming on the side of his temple. His large, bulbous glasses were canted to the side, evidently bent from being struck by one of the men.

“M-Magnus!? You… NO! YOU’RE DEAD! WE SAW YOU DIE! THE SH-!”

His nasally voice begged though his pleads were cut short as the butt of a rifle struck him across his cheek once again, sending his glasses spiraling across the floor away from the council members that were now on their knees. He looked back up at Magnus, as if the very sight of him standing before him was some kind of illusion. After all, the entire vessel falling from the sky with minimal survivors… Magnus’ chances were slim to none.

The councilman spat up a heavy wad of spit and blood, his temple now bleeding quite profusely down the side of his head and across his cheek.

“W-what are you going to do? K-Ki-KILL US!? You’ll destroy the council! T-The Union! Y-y-you’ll destroy EVERYTHING!

Magnus shook his head lightly, slipping the revolver back into the holster along his thigh.

“Destroy the council? No… No, dear Petrus.”

Magnus approached the man, then placed a hand on the side of his head before grabbing a hefty wad of the man’s receding hairline and yanked his head back to look him straight in the eye, which brought a whimper from the whining councilman.

“No, no, no, the council won’t be destroyed… More… Under new management.”

Magnus stepped back from the man, leaving him there before him on his knees. A wry grin spread across his lips as his arms crossed across his chest. The councilmen looked around to their captors, then back to Magnus, each of them with their eyes wide.

“MAGN-!”

A series of gunshots echoed through the council chamber as an era had ended within the Union.

And now, a new era begins.

Tests are done on the existing drive they have in order to find how it works, whether it be by transporting an apple, or entire cargo trucks. Afterward, it’s taken apart to discover it’s more technical inner workings. [10 RP] (20 RP Invested) (ALIEN DRIVES)

Turning on a wheel, the planets turn. Sparks may be seen in the interstellar void, as ships drop in and out of warp.

The three ships lined up, a small shuttle sitting at the side of them. The captains of the respective vessels ordered the crews of the small exploration vessels to check and recheck their measurements.

The new sensors were ready, the new warp drives were prepped. The captains saluted, and they, one by one, decided to set off through the void.

More and more effort was put into the ageing project, as the research cycle wound up, the researchers compiled their information.

Other projects were started as the new equipment that had been produced was outputted.

The worlds of Acer was thronging with activity. The workers constructing their new industries.

The Republic of Tassarea

It was a nice and sunny day in the city of Daras. A city on the planet of Tassarea, the capital of the aptly named Republic of Tassarea. However, Daras was just a normal ordinary city. Mostly focused around R&D but not much more. Except perhaps that it held the treasury of Tassarea. Where exceedingly rare or illegal goods were held. Most often both. But generally it was just an ordinary city where nothing exciting ever happened. Or that was how it normally was.

However, on this seemingly ordinary day a trio of black SUV's made their way down the street. With the windows blackened from the outside but translucent from the inside. This small convoy slowly made it's way towards  the beating heart of the city. Towards the treasury. Or more specifically, the bank in front of the Treasury. Where large sums of money were loaned out, both to big corporations and small business owners and the like. Slowly the convoy went towards the sidewalk in front of the bank and stopped there, simply stopped there. They did not move and no one left the vehicles they just stood there.

Finding this suspicious one of the security guards walked towards the lead vehicles. Squinting a bit as the sun reflected of the cars and glared into his face. As he reached the lead vehicle he rapped his knuckles on the glass of the car and motioned for the widow of the car to go down. Surprisingly it did, the security guard was faced with a scarred face. A bit nervously the security guard asked. "Sir” Though the word was said with clearly some contempt and annoyance in it. "What is your purpose parking here in a clearly no-parking zone.” Then the man said one single word.

"Mayhem

Then, within the blink of an eye the scarred man inside the car drew what looked like a revolver and fired it right into the head of the security guard. Right into the brain, the guard was dead before he had even hit the ground.

Then from all of the parked cars came men and women armed with a wide assortment of weapons. Mostly pistols and such but also three people with assault rifles and one person with what looked to be an old RPG. This crew of armed men, clearly disciplined and led with the man with a heavily scarred face. Who also seemed to wear all black for a reason, walked towards the bank. There, without flinching or stopping to walk one of the women of the robbers. Shot the other security guard right in the ventricular artery. Then the leader of the band spoke once he entered the entrance of the bank. "Everybody, to the front of the door and stay there.” The leader said, aiming with his gun to give himself extra pressure. Most people just meekly obeyed, mostly shocked at what was going on right now. The leader then nodded to his second-in-command, signalling that they would guard the main entrance. Then, the leader together with a man armed with an assault rifle and finally a woman who was holding a very large bag. Then they silently marched towards where the treasury would be. All around them alarms blared and red lights were dancing on the floor.

After blowing through several entrances and slaughtering some guards who stood in the way they reached a large vault door. A bit classic but top-tech for the time when it was built 20 years ago. Nowadays roberries were supposed to be extinct. This was easy to noticed because a modern M-89 explosive cleanly blasted through it.

The group then walked into what seemed to be a vault as one would see in a movie, a book or some piece of fiction. Filled with precious jewels and with jewels flickering around everywhere. However, this did not draw the attention of the group. What did was the cabinet filled with what looked like several USB's. The Scarred man walked right towards the USB designated as. Project X-lore. And then grabbed it.

The Scarred man, then got a smile.

"Got it you old man.

Actions

In order to ensure the security of Tassarea. Specifically against unknown and possibly hostile alien species four units of regular infantry are recruited on each of the planets of the Republic. So as to protect against these theoratical threats.  [4M&4S]

In order to make sure that more trade will occur with their new Protorian neighbours, as well as to establish closer relations, several dictionaries of Protorian are made. Which translate Tassarean to Protorian and vice versa. Furthermore, once the Protorian language is understood more, more money is inveseted into preparing to put Protorean as a language into the educational curriculum. [15,5k C]

In order to increase the population of the Republic, due to the abundance of jobs and the need for more rescources and Research, a project is put to incrase the population of the Republic. This is by beginning a program which will allow parents to have to work less hours in order to care for their child. Furthermore, for those parent who don’t have an interest in that more kindergartening facilities are prepared. [30k C]

To improve the living conditions of the newly settled trade colony and to make sure that Protorians traders come to visit the new colony of Nalea gets several investments. These investments are centered around improving entertainment and the living enviroment. For example, building cinema’s, art gallery’s, clubs etc. As well as building parks and other areas for recreation and beauty. [10k C]

In order to allow for better research more research is put into well.... research. [12RP into T1/T2 Rf, 24 invested into Rf reseearch]

12 M - 2 Colony Ships - It is time to spread, and since there are no obvious targets within range, the Corruptors will find less dramatic ways to expand.

10R [25 Total] - Itoron Extraction - The Corruptors’ methods may not be conducive to the free exchange of ideas, but it’s all they know. They screech and scream at each other until one thinks of something.

Turn 9

2209

Map update, see Discord Chat.

For some it is peace, for others it is war. Chapters are being closed, to make space for new ones, where the races of this galaxy have found first friends and foes, to engage in exchange of words or in exchange of blows.

Republic of Korinth

With a substantial improvement in both speed and efficiency, the new engines are finally complete at this stage. (T1 Fusion Engines)

Whilst science fiction has always depicted shields and other methods of energy fields, nothing has ever been tried before in Korinth and thus the scientists proceed to establish the fundamentals first, for the lack of real reference.

H’Wong Nation

Nothing new. The ships reach the designated sector after a prolonged journey. Running out of supplies though they return home soon thereafter.

Democratic Laconian Systems

As the NAP is signed, the Tintra do send a destroyer with an entourage to the Laconian home system, previously announcing their impending arrival over badly spoken English. On the other hand, whilst the diplomats of the Humans are grudingly accepted with a good touch of mistrust (mostly motivated by the return of the deceased and their personal items), the troops are denied entry into the Republic itself. Foreign soldier are not to be on the soil of Tintra.

The east appears to be... a wide stretch devoid of any planets, merely some singular stars without stellar bodies, two sectors long (so far), a zone of empty and dead space.

The Republic of Tintra declines to offer assistance. It becomes clear through contact, that they do have Warp Engines themselves already.

Talarak Clan

The beings which inhabit the system appear to be some kind of plant people. Rather short, with thin appendages, their heads wrapped in a mesh of twig bones. All hails are duly ignored by the Alduu’uuranean crew manning the exploration ship. The species appears to fly many different colors and banners, meaning they are a fragmented people, however, given the look of their colonies, they do internationally cooperate. A lot. Armed forces and space ships are very few in number, three corvette sized ships struggle with their engines to try to catch up with the exploration ship to apprehend it or stop it at least. Hah.

The math continues.

The Antebellum Corporation

With the poor finally able to afford food, they seem to want to have children, given if the state continues handing out rations to them. (+0.05% pop growth this turn)

Of the four exploration vessels one goes missing in the West. That however would not be known to the Corporation for the lack of communication methods at this point in time.

The science team reports they are finished with the study of the alien machinery. Ready to construct their own prototype they request equal funding to make a proper and reliable model based on their math and projections they have nailed down.

The biology department continues to work on the riddle of life, still nothing particular to report.

Quercus Quorum

After intensive research, they find a method to disable a genetic trigger that lies dormant in most Adaptaar’s lives, only to activate in the late 80s, which can cause cellular degeneration in affected cells, shortening their effective lifespan, accelerating the process of aging. (+0.02% pop growth)

The exploration ships cruise off into the vast ocean of stars. They may find many wonders or simply nothing. Such can only be told once they return home next year! The fourth of the group returns home, refitting.

Based on the principle of the detection device the scientists begin drafting solutions of bridging the distance in terms of communication and allowing for even faster response times (warp-speed courier ships have been put into use recently, but that is still with delay of days between the colonies). There is promise in this pursuit.

U N I O N   T H U L È E N E

The abductions go easy and completely unhindered by the inhabitants of the world, as they pluck singular specimens of these roaches from the surface at late nights, when alone or otherwise occupied and unexpecting. However, some individuals, mostly male, of one or the other tribe are excellent hunters it seems and one crewmember of the Union dies to an unexpected counterattack of a roach, another six wounded to various degrees. Also they show remarkable resilience in terms of sedation, as they soon realize they need sedative enough to put an elephant to sleep to maintain the conciousness of the roaches out of order. Other than that, everything goes smoothly.

At the end of the year the exploration vessels returns, showing some damage to its engine and outer hull. Asteroid strike, with luck they managed to maintain the engine running and return home.

The Republic of Tassarea

The friendship with the Protorians begins to bear fruit as an influx of new people arrives in the Republic, seeking new lives and endeavours outside of the commonplace Protorian Council space. (+15,000 Protorians, secondary population gained)

The trade agreement grants new business opportunities, rarities from both nations can be easily exchanged and sold on eachothers markets. (+10,000 C per turn for the trade agreement)

The cultural exchange which onsets, offers opportunities to learn and study the history and.. well, culture of the other nation, from the early beginnings on towards the stars. (+5 R per turn, for 10 turns)

The migration treaty allows for immigration as mentioned above. (+0.05% pop growth on all biological population)

Redon Empire

The colony ship arrives, and for the reminder of how home is, the captain and colony leader agree upon settling the bigger of the two arid worlds. The other planets however are so close and within reach, that moving over to them should be very easy.

The Remnant

Alternate solution detected. Reliable method of movement and transportation. Combining Solar Leaf studies and wormhole research. Analyzing. Model complete. Projections show promise. Breakthrough achieved. Lightwave Engine. (Lightwave Engine T1 (FTL drive))

UNION OF SOVIET SOCIALIST PLANETARY REPUBLICS

In the sector south of the capital, in an otherwise unremarkable solar system, a world strewn with what appears to be black and white crystals. And they appear to react violently when in close proximity to eachother. The whole planet is tectonically active, which causes this event to happen more than once in a while. Perhaps there is potential in this?

CORRUPTOR DOMINION

Fusion cutters. They manage to not only cut off a leg off my pestering fellow corrupter, but also seem to mine Itoron quite steadily, with time and patience of course. Now, smelt it down and we should be ready to go! SCREEEECH.

“Despite the embassy and the treaty, we should still be preparing for the unknown.”

The sentence echoed in the minds of many civilians, the uncertainty of their galaxy ever more apparent by the discovery of the Tintran Republic. Every table’s conversation was about their uneasy coexistence with a war-torn much more advanced nation. A dramatic naval increase was seen as a result as many eager boys joined the navy. Over 200,000 support staff now worked on keeping the vessels of the burgeoning fleet running day to day.

An exponential spike in materials production saw the rise of Leonidas’ belt civilian sector, more people flocked to its growing skyscrapers and jobs. Leon itself even saw a couple million more people join its hard working force.

Research is nothing important, it seems the brainpower of the nation is hard at work quietly!

Population: 5,716,880,512 Humans

AP Expenditure: 57,500 C, 32 M, 10 T, 20 S, 4 L

[30,000 C] Leonidas’s belt is almost built up with the 3 massive civilian metroplexes are built. It would seem two more massive places could be built however. [4,500 C+]

[20,000 C] Leon’s belt finally received the final two massive industrial complexes in its surface. [4 M, 2 R, -3,000 C]

[32 M] As Leonidas’s belt is built up, another colony ship graces the slipways. The military also wins funding for additional screening vessels. 6 frigates are built to provide commercial patrolling and add more screening to the fleet. [6 C, 6 T]

[7,500 saved.]

[!] The explorer ships return and move south to scout the nation’s borders.

Research Expenditure: 10 RP

(5 | 17 Invested) Continued research into Artificial gravity.

(5 | 5 Invested RP) Without Tintran help the scientist of the nation plug along in their warp research!
