A Devereux's Address

“As usual, it would seem the wisdom of women is increasingly becoming far superior to the blood-thirst and ambition of men. Mayhaps this Princess Ester should be Queen of Curon, instead,” Anna Maria would remark to the Empress Lorena, the teenage youth recovering from the previous day’s battle.

Lorena’s lips are anointed with the gentle noiselessness of a smile with which to steady Anna’s perplexity, sending the girl only a brief glance in acknowledgement; gloved fingers danced with the complements of an inked quill, scribing the following atop an aged parchment, to be sent to Princess Ester the following day:

Dearest cousin,

I have just received word of your detail. None bearing Devereux blood could ever have imagined that such inquiries would ever be required, yet now we see that it was incumbent of you, for in your own words you are made to speak for a bedridden cousin whose reputation has been squandered by a man out of his right. So now, when there is little more to be addressed, what stands in question is the distance that subjugates us into the sustenance of lacking acquaintance. Thus, I plead you visit me alongside your family, so we may rehabilitate this broken air.

With love, Lorena Helane

The Black Prince on one of his many travels would receive the missive. He glanced over. He shook his head, he mounted his horse. Preparing to ride home

The Duke of Eastmark would then reply to the Princess:

"The Lord Regent is not alone. We, his leal councilors and vassals of the Kingdom back his decision of upholding the independence and sovereignty of Curonia. I can't say the same about you."

“You? You are f*cking alone.” says rude man

Arthos pokes pierce with a stick, hoping he wakes up.

@Sporan

“You poke my patient again, that stick is being shoved where it don’t shine!” Matthias snapped his fingers at Arthos

The doctor went back to moving Pierce’s limbs, making sure the bed-ridden king doesn’t waste away in his coma.

“Your Lord Regent and His Council is a hive of cowards that attempts to hold on to the little power they possess. Curonia proves to be a snake against its allies time and time again. Your treacherous ways will not be forgotten. GOD smiles down on our people, can you say the same?”

Ester reminisces on the day she most recently traveled to Morsgrad & was insulted by two lowly, ill-mannered women. “May the two of them remain in their blissful ignorance. The world is far too wide and diverse for their meak minds to ever comprehend.” She’d utter to herself. “To be torn between home and kin, these are things I do not even wish upon them.”

Marlow recalls the ill-bred and low class noble who had come to Morsgrad. ”I still can’t help but find it amusing that she became personally offended and felt attacked that we would DARE tell her that there are no bastards within Nordish culture. And then, the gall to know she is losing an argument and mention her husband finding out as an intimidation tactic, though never elaborating on who he was or why it would be relevant. To be so spineless and crude as to walk into someone else’s home and tell them how they should live their lives is for the weakest of mind and souls. It’s asinine. What a repulsive woman, to sick men upon a youth and a young woman of the Red Faith purely because she took offense to us telling her we have no bastards. Note that she was too cowardly to send the same men against Chadmyr or anyone else who was male who spoke the same. At least Eleanor embraced the culture as she moved to Morsgrad, just as I embraced Helena when I moved there. Ester is just cowardly in my eyes, but if she is of Haense then perhaps she was simply dropped on her head as a child.” She sighs as she complains to Thora.
