squakhawk 8480 Popular Post Share Posted January 4, 2021 Hello everyone, It’s been a busy holiday season for us all, and we can only hope that this next year will be better than the last. Unfortunately, the ST have come to the decision to shelf three pieces of lore with the beginning of the new year. These pieces are Shade, Wonks, and Hou-Zi. Shade Shade has been a pretty polarizing piece of lore among the community for quite some time. Despite it’s attempted rewrites in the Lore Games, it has not met the standards expected of similar lore pieces. One of the glaring issues here is that their deity, Arun’asna, has never been accepted as canon. It does not make much sense to have a lore piece rooted in another piece which does not yet exist. Upon this, the community has been inactive for quite some time. Despite the lore having two rewrites come, both were not quite up to standard and the changes from the initial write were never met. The lore was a mistake to have been passed with manager miscommunication, but now it can finally be put to rest - hopefully the archetype can have it’s niche fulfilled by other magics, but it is discouraged from rewrite for the time being. All shade players (and CAs, though none should exist out there) may drop shade in a roleplay manner fitting to them that does not benefit them in any way other than dropping the magic. This may be through paladin purging, shaman spirit-walking, personal atonement to a deity, or so on- so long as it is within the means of common sense. Typically through dropping shade one has permanent mental detriment, though we are rendering optional given the shelving. /Sreq to have your app denied or if any questions are had. WonksUpon release, Wonks seemed to be a lore piece that the community loved. There was an astounding 30+ apps in the first week upon its release, though it has since fallen from the peak it saw prior. Currently, there is 1 (one) active wonk player. They were met with a rocky start despite the surge in applications, with failure to integrate into any settlements or find a niche to fit into. This, along with the myriad of meme roleplay that came with the CA -- especially those who sought to roleplay Pepe the frog -- has brought us to the decision to shelf the beloved frog race. It is taking up a spot for another interesting creature that players could possibly roleplay as. Fortunately, all current Wonk characters can still be played. If you already have an application for a Wonk, then you are free to play as that character. From this point forward, we will no longer accept any additional Wonk applications. All wonks are “Legacy Race”’d , meaning that they may be played so long as one had a CA before the shelf. Any currently pending or new wonk apps will be denied. No more wonks may be made through any means. Hou-Zi Similarly to the Wonks, Hou-zi have been plagued by a curse of inactivity. In the past year, there has only been twenty one accepted applications for Hou’zi. Despite their boom in activity during Chi’s resurgence, many of their players sought to move on to different characters. Currently, they have two active players. They are sitting in a similar position as Wonks are -- taking up a spot for another potentially interesting, more engaging creature. Again like Wonks, anyone who currently has a Hou-zi will still be able to play their character, under the caveat that no new members of the race may be created. From this point onward, the ST will no longer be accepting new Hou-zi applications. All Hou-Zi are “Legacy Race”’d , meaning that they may be played so long as one had a CA before the shelf. Any currently pending or new Hou-Zi apps will be denied. No more Hou-Zi may be made through any means.Of course, should any questions, concerns, or comments be had, please state them below or make an Sreq. My DMs on discord and the forums are always open if one needs to talk, discuss, or share thoughts and opinions. Thank you for reading. A grand thank you to the communities outreached regarding the shelving - we are glad we could come to a good compromise and understanding.

Notic 941 Share Posted January 4, 2021 It’s sad to see such good lore pieces go. Hope any remaining players are still able to enjoy the lore to the fullest. One day, may we all return to Monke.
