@cosmic_evil @ydegirl But nothing in the application requires or actually directs them towards learning the basic lore or history? It asks you to make a character backstory but doesn't actually offer a page or even forum/wiki pages with any basic info about basic lore or history. If as other people say 'it's a slog', why are new players left to their own devices if this is the case?

 

@Poor_Fellow Nothing directly prods them towards the core server lore or recent history. It shouldn't be a slog, I wouldn't want it to be a requirement to learn this shit without the resources to learn it being made readily available. If energy could be taken away from 'zoomer tiktok ads' and rediected towards making it so applicants have to 1. actually have even a miniscule amount of an idea of whats going on and 2. can access even the most recent simplified history and basic lore easily, it'd be great.

 

@Unwillingly Roleplay ability is one thing, I won't touch that, and I don't know or care if they can wrangle being able to judge that from that little paragraph with the old woman they have to write. But the problem is they don't actually get pointed towards and are required to understand the setting? They're not pointed towards the lore/history or GIVEN some understanding of the lore/history directly when they just click the 'apply' page? If, again, it's such a slog to get through the wiki or forums as Poor_Fellow says, why isn't it made easier, why aren't they guided through it more, whether the application is more difficult or not?

 

Application mid Arcas when I joined was just, 3 lore/history references. It wasn't hard to find the recent stuff on the war of 2 emps and put that into my application, and understand even the most basic recent history that could shape my character and wtf else was going on when I joined. Idk why that was removed, with some more work on making such information more accessible nothing could go wrong, only go better.
