  2. Good post and it brings up a lot of valid points. I'm a SOL role-player and really I have rarely taken part in wars. But I do have to say, the general lack of conflict (or at least the absence of a sense of conflict) going on around the map has even begun to seep into our communities as well. While SOL people rarely take part in conflict itself, having it going on in the background does also affect to flow of every day things. Overarching story lines shape what we talk about over tea, the type of events we put on, the way we RP within our communities and honestly one can only talk about the weather or how so-and-so's kid is doing so many times before it grows stale. Gossiping about what nations may fall to another, hosting events where we learn how to make emergency kits in case of evacuation, talking in hushed voices about when soldiers may descend on our homes is fun. As a leader in a community that thrives on SOL roleplay I have found myself having to insert some sort of conflict into our village just so we have something to interact with. While getting raided every day isn't the most fun, it at least gave us something to do and sorta rally around; with the crackdown on conflict rules I can't remember the last time we got raided or bandited. Even Halflings love a good world-changing war every now and then, and it feels as if the days where those actually happened are behind us.
  3. "Haense is gettin' readeh fer war!" the Thain of Honeyhill and loyal subject of Haense would yell out the door of her burrow to alert the village. "Make sure we're well s'ocked wit' drinks!" she would add before disappearing inside once more to scheme.
  4. I joined the server when I was 13, I am now 22. In those 5 years of playing as a minor I experienced some truly terrible things but never had the guts to speak up about due to a variety of things... those mostly being that the players who did them to me were well respected in their communities and I was scared I would be accused of falsifying reports as I have never been a 'popular' player on this server. People from nearly every community have spoken about their experiences in this thread and it's unnerving how predators have managed to sneak their way into every corner of this server, even into the niche communities like Halflings who at best have about 10 active players at a time. This conversation has been a long time coming, thank you for bringing it up.

  7. No mention of how many guns a halfling can carry, bad lore.
  8. One of my first memories on the server was chopping down trees so I could build a roadside tavern which was my characters main goal. Finishing it and actually getting to Roleplay in something I built is still one of my favorite memories. That sort of variety is not something really available to new players today, if someone logged on and wanted to be a hermit living out in the forests or to build and own a roadside inn they wouldn't really have that option as trying to get land in any way is kinda overwhelming, especially for a new player. Freebuild also kept me on the server when I was too anxious to really start RPing because I was able to spend my time interacting with familiar Minecraft mechanics while I grew accustomed to the server and such. And lets be honest, I already spend 10 minutes running to cities just to never find anyone. I would much rather have the chance of finding people on the roads hanging out in a camp or something I can interact with then run all that way with nothing to look at. Road RP is nonexistent on this map, travelling is boring, we need variety.
  9. Iris's brows would furrow as she reads over the agreement, gasping at the sight of her cousins name written at the end. "Knox beh wit' us, wha' 'as s'e done now?" she would mutter before sighing and heading back off towards the Bramble Grove to think.
  10. *A small pamphlet appears in doorways all around Crumlin Cave and the city of Urguan. Seeming to be written in small, rushed handwriting.* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* Fish Readings! Come let the Fish Reveal Your Future. *:・゚✧*:・゚✧ Have you ever wanted to get a glimpse into your future? To see what life my have in store for you? Well there is a way to do that. I, Fish the Fourth, am offering fish readings. I will sit with you by the pool in Mousehole and interpret the fish that are drawn to you and what they mean for your future. This is a closely guarded practice that has been passed down from my mother's, mother's, mother and has been in the family for generations. First time customers can get a free reading, though any readings past that will be 3 mina. Mousehole can be found in the mines of Urguan.

  17. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess but I feel like Nexus would have gone a lot smoother if they had different testers for each professions, then had those testers write the guides for those professions so they could have been out by launch.  I just want to know how to tinker 😞 but I very much appreciate all the work that has gone into this plugin and i'm warming up to it the more I learn how to use it.
