  6. Kaji to Kenka wa Sakuragakure no Hana 火事と喧嘩は桜隠れの里の花 Fire and Fights are the Flowers of the Village Hidden Amongst Cherry Blossoms The Sakuragakure Militia In response to the culmination of threats to the Oyashi people in the new lands of Braevos, the Shugo has deemed it fit to raise a standing militia of volunteers and conscripts with the goal of training the population for war time and to aid the samurai in the defense of the village. Militia members are expected to keep in shape, train often and enforce the peace in the absence of the samurai. Conscription Freedom does not come free and one must be willing to defend such. All samurai and apprentices, clan retainers and homeowners regardless of gender are hereby conscripted into the militia. Aspiring samurai apprentices must serve four active years (4 ooc weeks) in the militia and receive the sponsorship of a recognized clan before being considered for an apprenticeship under a samurai. Volunteers and conscripts are expected to bring their own gear as there is no official uniform, but standardized gear will be provided to those without including armor, a yari spear and a tantō to kill yourself with if you are captured. Should a home come under ownership of a child, they will be expected to participate in training and the acquisition of minerals but will be kept from active combat until they are seventeen years of age. Hierarchy Shugo: The Military Governor of Sakuragakure, he has the utmost authority over the Sakuragakure militia and is responsible for delegating roles and maintaining the chain of command. Samurai: Proven individuals of the warrior class who may be selected to act as officers, enforcers of the Shugo’s command. While none necessarily out rank the other, it is expected of all samurai to obey the Shugo’s command and his designated commanding officer for that particular mission and different samurai may be given different areas of specialty to take command of. Ashigaru: The basic rank for both volunteers and conscripts in the militia. It is a training period for aspiring samurai, employment for shinobi without contracts and a militant body for the village to gather around and bolster. Warbands In the spirit of gaining infamy and renown in Oyashi society, samurai have the authority to raise loose outfits of other samurai and ashigaru no greater than three others plus themselves and dawn their own crests and colors. While these warbands hold no official meaning within the structure of the militia, they are encouraged for building fraternity and are allowed to participate in freelance work with the Shugo’s expressed approval for contracts. Bushidō As Sakuragakure is a village lead by samurai, the spirit of Bushido’s tenants are expected to be respected by militiamen while on active duty. Known as the Way of the Warrior, it is a code of chivalry for the warrior class to follow. Righteous (GI) Act with Justice. Regard everything with honesty and integrity knowing you acted upon in good faith and virtue. Courage (YŪ) The will to confront your demons and meet your enemy head on. To never cower as it is unbecoming of a warrior. Benevolence (JIN) Use your power for good and not at the detriment of others. Help your fellow man and spread good wherever they go. Respect (REI) There is no need for callous action or to prove yourself before others. Men are judged by the weight of their actions. Respect comes from strength and how you treat others. Honesty (MAKATO) One's word will always be honored. To speak and act is one and the same, and no barrier will prevent a warrior from acting upon it. Honor (MEIYO) Only you are responsible for what you have done and will do, and any repercussions that may arise. Any decision made is your own burden to bear. Duty (CHŪGI) One must honor their master and their superiors, aswell as themselves. You must remain fiercely true to your ideals and those who you are responsible to. Unwavering. Discipline (JISEI) One must master the Heart and the Mind. Submitting to emotion leads to exploitable cracks, weakness. A cool mind must be fostered. Fraternity (TEI) One must be accountable to their sword-brothers and their retainer. One must do right by all those who would help them, for the bond of brotherhood makes one unbreakable. Rules The hierarchy within the Sakuragakure Militia is of utmost importance and must be adhered to without exception. It is essential for the Ashigaru to wholeheartedly listen to and dutifully follow the commands of the Samurai in all circumstances. Likewise, the Samurai themselves are obligated to unconditionally obey the directives of the Shugo and his designated CO (commanding officer), ensuring a seamless chain of command and unity. Upon voluntary enlistment or conscription into the Militia, it is expected that Ashigaru come equipped with their own arms and munitions. However, in the event that an Ashigaru is unable to procure their own equipment, it is encouraged for fellow Ashigaru to lend their support and aid in facilitating the acquisition and self-sufficiency of arms and munitions for their comrades. In adherence to Law 4 of Sakuragakure, it is expressly forbidden for any Ashigaru to wield a Katana. Instead, it is recommended that Ashigaru utilize weapons such as yaris, yumis, and bokkens, with female members of the militia particularly favoring the naginata. Those of the Sakuragakure Militia are entrusted with upholding the noble principles of Bushido. Samurai, in particular, bear the responsibility of imparting and enforcing these timeless ideals upon the Ashigaru throughout their service. Partaking in the consumption of intoxicating substances while on active duty in the militia will lead to immediate discipline. Intoxicating substances include but not excluding overindulgence in alcohol, cactus green, opium, and krugamine. Evading conscription or abandoning one's assigned duties without just cause while on active duty within the Sakuragakure Militia will result in immediate execution by commanding officers. Contracts that Warbands accept must also have approval of the Shugo. Members of the Sakuragakure Militia are required to actively engage in both religious rituals and secular ceremonies. The religious rituals encompass solemn observances dedicated to venerating the Kamisama, kami, and ancestors, paying homage to their revered presence. Additionally, participation in secular ceremonies hosted by the Shugo and military government, such as court proceedings and festive holidays, is deemed essential. While the rules presented for the Sakuragakure Militia provide a framework of expected conduct, the Samurai and Shugo retain ultimate authority to loosen and stricten the rules at their discretion. How to Join To be eligible to join the Sakuragakure Militia, one must be a citizen or nuhi with expressed permission from their owner to join. Seek out the Shugo or one of the samurai of Sakuragakure to enlist. (@GundamEngineer)

  13. SAKURAGAKURE 桜隠れの里 CALLS To the Oyashi of our fallen Tetsugawa and Newcomers, It is the end of the Era of Occupation and the cards of fate shuffle another round for the Oyashi diaspora. The fall of our old home is a heavy reality to bear, especially for we of the warrior class who despite all of our best efforts have ultimately failed in our duty to safeguard the rice paddy. It was by the will of Kamisama that we endured and it is by the spirit of Owinsama that we burn defiantly when enveloped in the doom. To the scattered survivors of Tetsugawa, we call upon you once more to rise from the corners of the land you’ve dwelt in and reunite with your countrymen. And to the wanderers of the land who seek kinship, we call upon the good spirited, the entrepreneurial and the brave to come home. If you have a dream then make it happen through your strength and will power. Together, it is our goal to achieve new heights for our people with a focus on strengthening our clans, strengthening our warrior class and becoming an economic powerhouse. May our prospered wealth trickle down to all classes of our society be they warrior or merchant. In the newly founded lands of Braevos we settle amidst the cherry blossoms in cooperation with the Dunmer Folk of Nor’asath with the goal of the proliferation and advancement of our culture while maintaining its integrity. Let us manifest the innovation Kamisama invested into our spirits to rewrite the fate of the Farfolk. To locate our new home, Sakuragakure, head north along the road from Nor’asath’s capital (x: -2546, y: 99 z: 1972). -Shugo Kato Oijin of Sakuragakure
