ÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON REINMAR, WITH GROWTH AND SUCCESS OF THE ORDER, many new ritters have come to distinguish themselves amongst the halls of the ever changing order. "FINALLY. KRETZENFEST IS HERE." Proclaimed one Sir Rudolf Barclay, quite contented Kretzenfest was once again around the corner.

node drops being buffed asap rather than after the contest wld be preferable, I'm tired of doing hours long lasting mining runs and returning with little more than literal scraps. I'm otherwise content with the promised changes tho

"I hope they do well," Commented one Sir Rudolf Barclay 'pon changing upon the Silverhand's missive. "The likes of such people banding together is in high demand. Now more than ever!"

One Bishop Godfrey, not yet at the end of his years, and thus not dead, though not quite as alive as he used to be either, came to frown bigly upon having finished giving the most recently issued missive a read. Offering the Icon of Saint Tylos, Patron of Lost Causes among others, that he kept within his room the briefest of glances. Rambling to himself thereafter, or perhaps that icon, as he was still prone to doing, though having since reached the age of sixty, with less severity than he once used to- though it was to prove lengthy- and at parts even incoherent- still. "So the good majority of clergy speak up to voice their concerns for the Mother Church at Diet, a thing that admittedly was not theirs to call, though was then turned public forum at the Pontificate's demand, with which they complied to the letter once things had cooled, and his first response is to decry them heretics ripe for slaying? And would-be usurpers that thought him dead? Are they afraid they are outnumbered? And would be outvoted by the clergy? I suppose they very well might be, what with how many lies are dotted across this pharisaic document so as to justify cutting out his fellow brothers of the cloth- and some rightfully concerned laity. Men that, though sometimes misguided in their zealotry, a fault of which he himself seems guilty also, spoke up not for own gain, but concern for our faith. Perhaps he has been misled as to their intentions? Or perhaps he truly is being malicious..? Hrm. I suppose I wouldn't put the latter past him. He has, afterall, shown himself to be quite the pharisee. Lamentable though it be." Then did he sigh, and ramble on about it just a little more. "I think there to be little hope for any long lasting resolution- what with the issuing of drivel such as this. Indeed, what they have brought forth is BARELY a council meant to give the clergy true say! It is unfortunate he lacks the foresight to understand that all he now seeks to force through is to be built on shifting sands. And that perhaps not now, now that they can likely still live by might makes right, and end justifies the means for a time- likely with the intent of butchering us if need be, by the looks of it- same as were OUR venerable forefathers at the Bloody Diet of Karosgrad, and not his, though he would sure like to pretend he acts in honor of their sacrifice, while persecuting, or risking to persecute, all that they did die for, that is the Church- to which I say we shall gladly follow in their holy example and be martyred for this godly course of ours, to which we did swear at ordination, and about the intentions of which they love to lie, or rather purposefully misinterpret, if need be. ..But rather in perhaps some fifty, or hundred years, by the breaking and cutting away of all tradition, he risks causing the whole edifice to collapse unto the ground entirely when they have the capital to hold a flaming sword over people's heads to subdue them by means of fear no longer. And thus leaving everything worse off than ever before." The Bishop eventually come to shut up again, and offer the matter up to God in prayer, before going about his priestly business- he had to take confession in a few months time, afterall. And such a matter was never to be taken lightly. Especially when it regarded a Petran- one of his own diocese. People for whom he would always make time- even when inconvenient. "Lord have mercy on him, and on us all, and on the Church entire especially. May He enlighten us as to whatever needs be done."

the iron cross predates ww2 by like 120-ish years and is basically prussian. was first established in the early 1800s during the napoleonic wars (and its design based off irl medieval teuton insignia btw) and later managed to catch on in wider germany and be recognised as a german tradition because the prussian kings ended up becoming german emperors. it was kept in use for traditions sake in all other iterations of Germany since - hell the BUNDESWEHR OF THE MODERN GERMAN STATE STILL USES IT AS ITS EMBLEM TO THIS DAY. all this really doesn't matter when u realise that the Empire guys just really like Warhammer and took it from there though. ur just looking for an excuses to call them closeted nazi's atp. don't have anything to say in regards to the neo-sutican issue other than that I think the empire should force them to either go live in slums as second class citizens or give them their own place somewhere so they don't pollute anything

RESOLUTION FOR AN ECCLESIASTICAL DIET
Ramon replied to MRCHENN's topic in The Church of the True Faith
"Tis but a matter of time before the Church returns to holy purpose now." Mused Sir Rudolf- utterly convinced of the righteousness of their cause. Come to prepare himself to help guard the proceedings by fasting day and night. "Our Lord so willing - and He is willing. For the Aengul Midris revealed it to be so."- 13 replies

"The words Father Drusco speak make sense." Mused Rudolf, who, though he was barely literate, was still a zealot, and so had a retainer tell him of what the priestly missive said. "One day the Church shall return to proper order. When the heresies that have seen it trampled underfoot are dealt with."

I don't rly grasp why you describe this as bad faith when nothing that has been said was said with either misleading or malicious intent. I can be against something for roleplay concerns (none of which you actually seem to have bothered to address) while simultaneously having OOC reservations because of my religious beliefs as well. The reply ultimately didn't even specify that I thought same-sex unions should have no representation on the server at all, just that I questioned the use of something that practically forces sacramental same-sex marriage through when secular civil unions already brought the exact same equality without forcing irp religions to completely rewrite their theology, effectively satisfying both sides of the issue, because both could live and let live this way. I also never said that you can't assume everyone that is complaining is doing so because of real world concerns, just that you shouldn't assume it all comes from some kind of desire to just be hateful for the sake of being hateful and wishing to cause others harm, and preserve a spot for such behaviour. The topic is a lot more nuanced than that. I personally wldn't classify wishing to act in accordance with the spirit of obedience to the laws of God as being hateful, in any case. Not how that works. And I'd imagine someone who would've actually grasped the things said at his catechism would've understood this !! even if my reasoning had solely been rooted in my OOC religious beliefs (which its not, my main argument was that this rule change just doesn't really work from a roleplay perspective, which I think I outlined well enough in my previous reply to you), I think it's kind of hypocritical to accuse people like me of bringing real-life identity onto the server and then calling this bad faith when, in a way, that's exactly what is happening on your end as well. IMO this whole idea that one idea needs to completely crush the other is just silly. if fairness and inclusivity were the real goals here then the only reasonable solution would be to strike a balance (one that was already clearly struck during Caius I lol) that acknowledges both perspectives without forcing either to conform to the other entirely and just vibe. I guess it's of little use to keep arguing at this point, though.

I'm not familiar with any of this but this is actually a reply that answers my question somewhat so thank u. (though its still a far cry from people saying ppl want to go on witch hunts and put homosexuals on literal pyres as some people have been pretending has been happening for some reason). wasnt this kind of stuff already a bannable offense anyways though? feels like the people responsible for it, if clearly guilty, should've just been banned and that been the end of it

ok but have there been actual examples of homosexual characters being hunted down with the perpetrators going unpunished in recent memory? (if at all??)

I personally think it is lame for people to immediately assume that everyone who questions the effects such a change will have on roleplay is acting in bad faith and in reality just meaning to preserve space for hateful bigotry. Though this of course assumes they aren't outright hatefully advocating in favor of lynching all characters deemed to be homosexual and whatever else you could think of just because. *That* sure should get you to reap consequences. I think it is of valid concern to want lore to stay consistent and grounded, and I think it's ok to object to this change because it infringes on such. It's just weird for any religion, even if ultimately just fictional, to be forced to drop beliefs that have been held for literal years overnight because of some rule change. This especially when, looking at the actual tenets and dogma of the main religion that'll be the target (Canonism, or True Faith now, I suppose), it makes no single shred of sense to. What's the point of forcing them to change it all? Especially when a compromise had already been reached in the past by means of legalising secular civil unions? The compromise allowed same-sex couples to exist, and be recognised by the laws of realms, and enjoy protection and legitimacy without forcing say Canonism/True Faithism to act against its theology, and the way I see it already basically dealt with real ''homophobia'' just fine. Both sides of the issue seemed contented with this back then. And so it's kind of the status quo I wish would've stayed personally. It felt very live and let live. And so I suppose that's kind of how I view it and what my endgoal would've been, personally. I don't think you can actually change this on a whim properly either way because you'd have to throw the entire religion around if you want it to still seem theologically sound, or risk leaving a massive contradiction that just sucks all internal logic and thus enjoyment out of theology rp. if u were to believe the universe was supposedly created by a omniscient, omnipresent, eternally holy, just and immutable deity then why would there be cause to doubt and deviate from the world order you believe him to have established? he can't have been omniscient and immutable if he was wrong in the past and changed his mind. Obviously I am also religious myself IRL, and as such have no real cause to deny a certain kind of bias against this stuff, to the point that I'd rather not be explicitly forced to roleplay or support something I've come to believe to be morally wrong. I've put my faith in what I'd describe as authentic Christianity in any case, and so hold what is in the scriptures, and affirmed by the apostles and church fathers, and holy tradition as a whole, as authoritative and infallible, and it all really couldn't be any clearer. I guess I subscribe to the St. Augustine quote of 'if you accept what you like about the gospel, and reject what you don't like, then it's not the gospel you believe in, but yourself' when it comes to this. I don't believe there is room for any Christian that takes the virtue of obedience seriously to really compromise on this either. So I guess that on that front you're free to take my takes with a grain of salt if you want to. I know I've certainly taken the claims that people who hold the kind of views I do are objectively evil and villainous and whatever else with such. and ermermerm this reply is alrdy ridiculously long so I'll try n keep this part short, but going off this and what you said before I guess I'd just advice you to report any kind of rulebreaking behaviour in the future if you have valid proof. I understand it can be quite daunting but staff on LOTC r honestly infamous (or famous. depends on who u ask. it can sometimes cause confusion though.) for being super stingy with evidence when they're investigating, and even after having banned people already, and so the chances of whoever it was that actually reported someone being leaked are pretty low. I'd waddle on over to whoever is mod admin at the time if I were worried some staff themselves were participating in whatever I'm reporting, they'd probably have the common sense to not involve whoever is suspected in any investigations. And could probably also keep your name out of things entirely if asked.

I guess I'm wondering what your impression of people asking if this ruleset will interfere with the doctrines of irp religions is. What do you think would be their intended endgame here? also where have you been playing that you've supposedly seen more casual racism/homophobia/transphobia and whatever else than on infamous 4chan bro

I think that whether or not IRP religions will now be forced to recognise sacramental same-sex marriages or no is actually a fair question. It wouldn't particularly match up with the traditional view religions such as Canonism have on marriage (where the aims are to model it off the coupling of Horen and Julia and beget/spawn in legitimate children) at all, and would as such just not really make any sense.

I'm currently in the process of writing up what'll probably turn into some kind of Waldenian specific religious rite. I don't think you're much of a religious roleplayer but even so, as someone who has been Vandalore in the past and should be quite familiar with the culture now, is there anything you think something like that should focus on? my condolences btw. 7 yrs is a long time.

"Ironically, for all it was, Canon Law was always in support of EMPIYAH, though it makes sense they mean to wave it away now," Bishop Godfrey mused, having read the declaration over in his comfortable and cozy residence at the Monastery of St. Rhosyn. "The laws of GOD said one thing, and the church administration and this rabble another. Thus, to them, it proved a liability." Then gone to sigh, and redirect his attention to prayer. For the Church, wider Canondom, and the SUPPOSED virtue and faith of this new Empire.

Rudolf had never really been one capable of grasping and appreciating the power of the written word. Though, as with the last of the missives publicly distributed by his father, made sure to acquire a copy for himself so he could go and bother a retainer to read it to him in full. ..Being mostly illiterate he had to figure out what their policy was somehow.
