  1. ISSUED BY THE HOSPITAL OF ST. AMYAS On this 26th day of Jula ag Piov of 540 E.S. With the 539 E.S. reforms to the Hospital of St. Amyas came the establishment of the Amayan Surgical Office, a second official branch of the Hospital to be led by Chief Surgeons Siegmund and Verena Weiss. The first and foremost goal of this office will be to serve as an institution of higher education in the fields of surgical practice, patient care, and medical philosophy. ⋅ ═══════════════ ⋅ ❀ ・│ I │・ ❀ ⋅ ═══════════════ ⋅ Enrollment is to be done by a simple interview between the potential student and a Chief of Surgery where they will be asked about their previous level of knowledge, religious beliefs, and their ethical code. All Canonists of Aevos are welcome to schedule an interview for placement within the Office, though priority will be placed on those who are already physicians and have a basic understanding of anatomy and medicine. Those who graduate from the Amayan Surgical Office will be given the prestigious title of ‘Rook’, so that their medical expertise may be known to all by name alone. Apprenticeships are also offered to those who have no prior medical knowledge, but these shall be very selective in nature, and these apprentices will not be officially recognized as ‘students’ until they become a physician and officially enroll as such. To begin the interview process, one must send a bird to either Lord Siegmund Weiss or Lady Verena Weiss detailing their name, age, and express in their letter if they are or are not already a licensed physician. ⋅ ═══════════════ ⋅ ❀ ・│ II │・ ❀ ⋅ ═══════════════ ⋅ Students of the Amayan Surgical Office will be instructed on the following subjects: 1. Foundational Medical Philosophy. 2. Ethics, and when to apply them. 3. Advanced Humoral Theory. 4. Theological and Canonist Theory in relation to Anatomy. 5. Surgical techniques and procedure. 6. Alchemical Medicine. ⋅ ═══════════════ ⋅ ❀ ・│ III │・ ❀ ⋅ ═══════════════ ⋅ To graduate from the Office and earn the title of Rook, a student must choose a subject of their own and undergo a period of intense study and research. Upon the end of this cycle, they are expected to produce a thesis at the direction of a Chief of Surgery. If their submission is satisfactory, then they shall undergo a ceremonial recognition of their talents wherein the Surgeon General will bestow upon them a golden staff tailored uniquely to their chosen field of study and henceforth be known as a Rook. 3. Siegmund received his own invitation in the murky depths of a secluded laboratory via a servitor golemn. He was stood over a cadaver laid out upon an autopsy table. "He's to be married before I?!" He frowned as he dropped a heart into a jar, "And by only a few saint's months..." He tisked, and then wiped his hands upon his surgeon's apron. "What do you gift a prince who has everything? Royalty isn't easy to buy for!" He complained loudly, though the corpse or the golem offered no comment.
  4. First off, welcome to LotC! Whilst I am a brainrot Haenser (terminal), I would highly recommend you making an elf as a sort of long-play challenge. They can live to be 1000 years (irl weeks) old so you'll have the character for atleast 19 real life years if you don't pk them. Creating an elf and going out of my way to exit my highlander-centric rp bubble has already taken me into some very fun places that I just wouldnt have gotten into otherwise. As for my favorite story, it was back when I first started playing in Haense as the venerable Felix Weiss. One of the servants in the royal palace used voidal magic on someone - which was against the law. They were arrested and thrown into a cell, awaiting the arrival of a Jovennar, which is like the Haense version of like a high-judge at the time. Well, the Jovennar arrives, and wishes to see the 'suspect', as it were. I, and a Crow Knight named Giovanna decide to enter the cell and escort the Jovennar inside the cell just incase they try to pull anything. So the Jovennar takes their side of the story, and decided to perform a standard darkspawn test on them. At the time this sort of test was only administered for crimes like the ones she had committed - ie, the use of magic against someone else. They use a gold dagger on them to cut their hand - nothing. However, she holds her breath, for she knows what comes next. The Jovennar took out a pinch of salt, and reached for her hand. Boom, her face contorts to be almost cat-like with large fangs coming out of her mouth. She was a vampire! Shocked the hell out of us, but not before she lunged at the Jovennar and tried to rip her throat out. What ensued was Felix and Giovanna frantically wrestling in a death struggle in this tiny ass prison cell with a tied up feral vampire. Was great fun, and was also my first interaction with an actual vampire. What followed was basically a military inquisition where we'd do no-knock raids on people's houses to test them, and then add their names to a registrar. Led to loads of conflict and irp consequences. The whole ordeal was great, and I don't think there was ever an instance of bad faith in the whole thing.
  5. You WILL roleplay how I want you to roleplay and you WILL have fun!

  6. Siegmund Weiss exchanges his robes and metal mask for the face of another, and a snappy suit to match... "It's all good, man." He muttered to himself.
  7. This would make using a bow as support infinitely more viable and I think this should be the change as-is. My reasoning being is that it would actually be viable for once to bring a couple dedicated archers. 3 shots in 7 emotes is much better than 3 shots in 9 emotes.
  8. Don't do what Helldivers does. Don't nerf plate armour, just buff ranged weapons.
  9. Chemlight out.

  10. "1984." Said Siegmund Weiss, as he was just about done nailing a blue sign with violently neon-pink glowink to the basilica wall.
  11. Siegmund Weiss had taken the time to take all non-heretical holy icons from the walls of the Foundry, to spare them from the flames of perdition. As he rode back to his home in the Highlands with a cart full of paintings in tow, he glanced over his shoulder to see the black smoke rising high into the sky. "Krusae zwy Kongzem." He muttered to himself before continuing on.
  12. DRAGASZ VE KOENGZ DUMA Proposed Crownlands Ordinance of 529 ES Also known as the Haeseni Heroes Act Introduced to the Duma A proposed civil ordinance for the Crownlands of Haense that would establish a memorial grounds for all notable persons who have contributed meaningfully to the cultural, civil, or martial sectors of His Majesty’s kingdom. INTRODUCTION With the recent reconstruction of Valdev into a bigger and better city, the people of Haense have persisted against all odds to forge a new city full of eager optimism of a brighter future. However, we must also not forget the sacrifices made by our good comrades that have come before us and as good Canonists we should feel obligated to honor our triumphant dead. This bill proposes that the Grand Maer of New Valdev is to designate a sacred ground within His Majesty’s Crownlands for the construction of a memorial and grave site for Haeseni men and women who contribute significantly to the kingdom or die honorably in service of it. I. Location i. This bill’s only stipulation as to where said memorial would be located is that it be a place of non-strategic military importance as to ensure its protection from demolition by necessity. II. Decorum and Establishment i. Once a location has been determined and the foundations laid, the Grand Maer will then ask the Church with permission of the Crown to perform a rite of consecration of the grounds which will for all intents and purposes make them a sacred place that shall be protected from removal for all time. The grounds may never be shrunk or demolished but expansion, maintenance, and general grounds keeping shall be permitted whenever the need arises. III. Invitation of Burial and Memorial i. The Crown, His Majesty’s Aulic Council, and the Grand Maer shall exclusively hold the right to invite extraordinary citizens of the kingdom to be buried within these grounds of Haeseni heroes. These invitations are intended to be a gesture of gratitude and deep respect from the various branches of His Majesty’s government to acknowledge someone’s contribution to the kingdom of which they have so diligently worked to maintain and improve, and so they are intended to be given whilst the recipient is alive and at the eclipse of their career so that they may be able to look back at their accomplishments with pride. ii. Should the recipient unfortunately pass away before receiving their invitation or be given a posthumous invitation to be buried or memorialized in the grounds, then their next of kin or head of house shall be informed of such. Families may keep their loved one’s ashes and still have a memorial raised in place of a burial. iii. Any citizen who is at least of the rank of Footman or a member of the Knightly Orders of Haense that dies in battle or in defense of the nation shall be given an automatic invitation to be buried or memorialized within these grounds. iv. Any persons who were honored in the previous Mori War monument before its demolition shall be likewise honored in these grounds. SIGNED, His Lordship, Siegmund Robert Weiss of Novkursain
  13. "A bold stance from a boy who eats pinecones," Siegmund Weiss drawled in idle contemplation. "Nevertheless, it seems he has had a stroke of genius with this bill!"
  14. Siegmund Weiss looked to the paper whilst they patrolled around the city streets. "Vy had better hope that curse washes off." He chuckled as he leaned over to show him the bit that mentioned him. "Or maybe vy have to find it ag apologize?" @Frostdrop1

  17. At the end of the Viscount's long walk through the skies of his Lord, did he find a lush paradise of vivid forests, swamps of dancing fireflies and tall fauna that would be the thing of legend if they had existed within the waking realm. The sun was lazily setting over this verdant paradise, and the sounds of running waters ambled free in his ears. A river, long and snaking did it rush was only meters ahead of him. There by the river ye, they sat. Two familiar silhouettes cast against the water that had now absorbed the setting-sun's amber glow. They appeared to be fishing. As Audo's feet crushed the crisp green grass of the riverbank, did the taller figure rise - a black shadow against the river. It was Felix Weiss, and sat next to the old lion was Audo's sister, Sierra @Dinochad. The man did not immediately move to greet his son. At first, he seemed only to try and get a measure of him. Felix then stepped forth and put an arm around Audo to greet him as an equal. Felix had lost his many scars aswell - save his eye which curiously had not been restored upon his arrival into the skies. He was not the tired, angry and crippled old man Audo had known him as last he saw him. "We made you a rod for the occasion, son. Sit now by these waters and enjoy the peace. Tomorrow, we go hunting." His father then pat Audo's shoulder, and moved to continue enjoying their never-ending paradise with his family. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Eikthyr had learned of the Viscount's passing through whispers in the meadows and many forests that man had not yet desecrated. He roamed the dark forests in quiet contemplation of Audo's passing. Eikthyr knew in his heart of hearts that if he was to save himself, he must die a man and die with a heart full of love. He quietly moved then to bring his finger to an ancient log, a log where he and Audo had last spoken. He carved into the bark of the ancient Firr a single word, "Hope." ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Kalador perhaps may have once felt bad for taking Audo's body without even having asked his fellow warriors permission first, but he knew Audo better than most - than anyone alive, he would likely wager. He hoped that his friend would have approved of delivering his body to the Weiss, so he may be lay to rest with his kith and kiln. Kalador came to Aevos not knowing of his heritage as an Elf, and what that meant. A life of immortality, oh what a wonderful gift. He understood now the horrible, twisted nature of the curse of his kind. He may not see his brother for a thousand years - perhaps, even more or never again. Kalador had no recourse to salve that wound upon his heart. Audo and he would likely never, ever see eachother ever again in this life or the next. Great and terrible melancholy ruled him, and likely would be a persistent wound upon his soul until his mind left him and he fell victim to the folly of his kind. Kalador decided then that if this were to be his fate, Audo would not allow him to sink into the mud and pity that perhaps many others in his situation would have fallen to. Kalador would keep fighting for a better world, a world where the death of a good man like Audo would never happen in the first place. Audo was now in heaven, but perhaps Kalador could achieve Babylon in this one.
  18. Is anyone down to listen to me rant and rave about medieval medical practices so I can write this roleplay book, and or willing to rant to me about medieval medical practices?

  19. What symbols are typically used in LOTC to represent medicine? I don't mean just a red cross, I mean moreso for representing medicine as a science such as the Caduceus or staff of Hermes.

We can’t use red crosses sadly, though what I see most often are blue ones or green ones

One would only use red crosses to commit warcrimes... ConcernedApe found this out the hard way.

in welf culture symbols of healing/medicine include cupped hands (symbolising the Mother's healing touch), and/or blue flowers that could either symbolise blissfoil or the flowers that make up the cultural tattoo for healers (teal flowers on the backs of the hands)

Canonism has Saint Amyas of Yore who is represented by a wild herb.
