  2. The Blue Siren has been masterfully captured by a band of Orcs. The Bounty has been completed; Oren rid of its Siren blight.
  3. Felsen's Siren has met her match. Vanaheim's Siren has yet to be contested.
  4. Felsen's Siren has claimed two victims, prowling at large. Vanaheim's Siren has yet to be contested.
  5. WANTED: Siren THREAT LEVEL: Low-Medium DESCRIPTION OF BEAST: A harlot in shade, the Siren seduces its prey with its song, often sailors by the docks at late hours, before stunning them with a shrill or illusion hex and draining them for sustenance. It's form is light and ethereal; striking it with steel or flesh is akin to punching through a thick fog. Only aurum may bleed the beast, but it bears many hexes and illusion spells in order to elude capture. Most notably, its cloaking technique is the bane of many a-monster hunter. LOCATION: Blue Sirens prowl the bays of Vanaheim. They often can cast water spells to subdue their foes and are far more confrontational, needing flesh and blood to survive. [Medium Threat] Green Sirens are about the rivers cradling Felsen and Adria, weaker than their sisters, but far more illusive as they only need blood as sustenance. [Low-Medium Threat] Three Sirens have been sighted throughout Oren; two Green in Felsen and Adria, and one Blue in Vanhemir. Adria's Siren has been SLAIN. Felsen's Siren has been SLAIN. Vanehmir's Siren has been CAPTURED. REWARDS: A minae sum by the local rivermen/sailors.

  7. HUGUES SARKOZIC Nicknames: Hugo, Hugh, Hughbert, 'the Harlot', Your Grace. Age: 22 Gender: Male Race: Human Height: 6'1 Weight: 180 Physical Features: Hugues boasts a warrior’s frame; tall, broad-shouldered, and fierce. Flaxen locks betray his heritage as few could discern his ancestry from a common glance, with some regarding the youth as the spitting image of a young Lothar Horen. Hugues was often teased by his father over his ‘elven eyes’ given their bright emerald hue. They have since dulled with age and exposure. His countenance has grown scruff under the duress of leadership, though he still possesses a youthful complexion. Health: Hugues enjoys a well-rounded diet and ample access to various remedies due to his noble birth. His health is excellent. Personality: Boyhood mischief and a lack of parental guidance has left Hugues to be a rash youth of low cunning. He lacks the scruples and cautions of greater men. However, underneath his dismissive exterior remains a willful and kind youth of high aspirations. Inventory: Hugues often carries about... A steel cuirass; regarded as a family heirloom. A large bastard sword made of castle-forged steel. Salted mutton, rye bread, and a flask of boiled water. A pack of playing cards. A pouch of coin. A small leather-bound journal for note-keeping. A stolen lute. __________________________________________ Lifestyle Alignment: Chaotic Neutral. While Hugues does show inclinations towards good rather than evil, he lacks the moral constitution which defines good and immoral ambition that defines evil. Deity: The Creator. Religion: A lax adherent of Canonism. Hugues enjoys the stories and sagas of the Canonist saints but has no particular attachment to theology. Nation: Oren. Class: Noble Title(s): Duke of Adria, Count of Novellen, Viscount of Dibley Profession(s): Noble Strengths: Hugues has a thorough knowledge of diplomacy and history given his noble upbringing; a quick mind which few get to witness due to Hugues’ reluctance in demonstrating his intelligence. He possesses a wild charisma which both alienates and inspires. His singing voice is said to be chipper and sweet to the ear. Flaws: Hugues has a tendency to leave a poor first impression on people due to his personality. Snide, arrogant, and cynical, Hugues often is unable to conceal quips and japes in conversation. His sharp wits and sharper tongue have left him with few close friends as most peers dismiss his colorful remarks as genuine insults. Hugues is also rash and shameless with little concern for the ramifications of his actions. He is apathetic to anything he has not earned or sought out, creating deep tensions when confronted with unwanted duties. __________________________________________ Weaponry Fighting Style: Hugues assumes balanced stances in combat. He reads his opponents well but lacks the strength and stamina to capitalize on his predictions, making him a middling fighter. He readily employs unorthodox tactics in combat, however, to mitigate his inadequacies. Trained Weapons: Being a squire and noble, Hugues has trained with a myriad of melee weapons. He has had long-lasting training with most daggers and swords, while his experience with axes average, his experience with polearms mediocre, and his experience with blunt weapons woefully lacking. However, given the versatility of a sword, he can manage other melee weaponry with adequate ability. Favored Weapon: The longsword is Hugues’ weapon of choice. Archery: Growing up in a hunting environment, Hugues has had ample exposure to ranged weaponry. He is a fair shot, though he prefers the thrill of melee combat. His favored ranged weapon is the longbow, believing crossbows and arbalests weapons employed by cravens and cutthroats. __________________________________________ Family Parents: Victor de Montfort and Helaine Chivay are Hugues’ parents. He has a begrudging respect for his father as he does with many authority figures and mourns his loss. Hugues was closer with Helaine growing up, but adolescence tainted their once loving bond. Siblings: WIP Children: Extended Family: Hugues descends from the Carrion and Chivay bloodlines. Hugues has an appreciation for his Carrion and Chivay heritage but, oddly enough, is distant from his Tuvic kindred, another hybrid line of Carrion and Chivay. __________________________________________ History WIP

  9. I think the issue is that if Aeldin-Athera travel is accessible, then Asulon/Anthos-Athera travel becomes available and that opens a can of worms. I'm pretty sure we switch between Aos and Eos every few maps so sooner or later Aeldin will be accessible again. I don't agree with the idea of having places for your character to pretend to be important when they aren't being played but on the same vein I don't agree that Aeldin lore should be dismissed as it is one of the few decent 'other' continents that exist, so overall I'm content with this ruling. That being said, I hope the LT takes a lax stance on this since banning people over RPing Aeldin characters would be quite foolhardy and just stir the pot more.
  10. I support the idea of Aeldin and its mythos existing but I don't support the idea of it being accessible and constantly having characters going to and fro from there. It decreases the legitimacy of events in Athera and sets a dangerous precedent of special snowflake worlds. If the only requirement for a new continent for a player base to manipulate is that it has x amount of lore and x amount of players backing it, we will soon see various player groups writing their own worlds in order to feel better about their standing in Athera, which cheapens the politics and intrigue of the server quite a bit.

  17. The thing is I do not believe the Orcish race has had this phenomenon for ages, and it makes it very annoying to RP with them as they are inhumanely big, and even worse to RP fight with them, because they constantly demand victory for their size! When the humans were getting too big, pressure was put on them to stop RPing 8 foot tall behemoths, and they did, when goblins were getting freakishly small, pressure was put on them to stop RPing 2 foot troll characters, and they did. Can't see why the Orcs can do something similar, it has little to no relevance to the contemporary Orc RP if everyone agrees to drop a foot of height for a more authentic race. Nothing is changed outside of a number change in one's biography as, unlike say the humans (going from 5 to 6 foot is a significant jump because it is the range of human height), going from 8'9'' to 7 foot still gets the roleplay across that the Orc is big and strong, but doesn't make them seem like some alien event race which is freakishly, unreliably, huge.
  18. When did Orcs get so big! When I was Rex, the range was 7 foot to 8 foot. By making yourselves pointlessly bigger, you alienate the race further by making it appear more bestial and less of an actual civilization. I understand people feel the urge to compensate by making their characters taller and taller, but there has to exist a hard limit before things get out of hand, and it is coming to that line by what I've been reading here. The humans had this same issue about a year ago when people kept making humans that would go to seven, eight, and nine feet tall, which is incredibly immersion breaking. Orcs should have a height and strength advantage, but it shouldn't be so gargantuan that they come off more as beasts then actual sentient beings. Remember that the four brothers weren't of great disparity in strength or size until the curses and Krug wasn't blessed with extreme height, but strength. Selective breeding is what made the Orcs peak over to 7-8 foot, but anymore just doesn't make sense. Another point to make about Orcs is that when it comes to combat with weapons, I've seen Orcs complain about losing 1v1's in combat before, and truth be told we should just let the mechanical standard sort that out. When it comes to combat with weapons, physical strength is a noticeable factor, but not as much as skill and scenario, thus, other races can defeat orcs, its just up to the PvP. A lot of times I feel like people nowadays only play Orcs just so they can play some freak-giant who, whenever losing a fight, can use their race as a card to re-do a fight, and I can say with confidence that that's not what the Orcish race is about!
