  2. Casreus, stirring in the night, awoke from his restless sleep. His breath raced, labouring him as the wheeze plagued his lungs which a bronzed hand rested over. He rose from bed, stepping outside upon that cold mountainside and rested. His breathing slowed; a practice he had always done, even if involuntary, as he tried to calm the ailed mind that assailed his own. He grunted; there was no peace, not in his mind, his heart, or the lord that granted him that power. He took his stave in hand, striking at the target-dummy with a grunt. Another strike- another strike- another strike. The mountainside trees swayed in the frigid night wind plagued by the sounds of wood striking wood until the morning sun came to rise.

  7. Maybe dictate reactability based on armor grade. If you have anything higher than halfplate, you cant block and attack in the same turn a speed debuff of sorts Encumberment should certainly be a thing, and efforts to dodge bodily blows while wearing full-plate should significantly reduce stamina. Think of it as wearing a weighted vest, not too much mobility in those either.
  8. Alf Vuiller, son of one of the old magister's considers hauling his elderly 90 year old rump back home briefly. Only to realize he's dirt poor. Only for the missive to suddenly change, so that he qualifies again. He then sends a letter and makes his way over to the tropical state.
  9. I love the mention of longbow specifically, but I'd recommend specifying the type of crossbow as well (the gap between hand and crank in LotC armaments is wonky), as well as the speed. Ex. "Each fired projectile from this spell will have the speed and force of a standard longbow or hand crossbow projectile and may be as sharp as jagged stone." I'd also recommend adding the speed to the other projectiles (like bolt and arc), longbow arrow/hand crossbow bolt speed would be the likely one for Bolt, that's the standard for evocation spells given its interaction mostly with Air Evocation, Arc maybe as well? Though perhaps a redline for that about being Air Evocation Redirected? Edit: also prob add a redline like this like seen in Earth Evocation: - All projectiles, if fired simultaneously, must be fired in the same general direction. Once a maximum of 5 projectiles have been summoned, no more can be summoned and the spell must be cast again. Projectiles can be held back for 3 emotes before they fizzle out. Multiple projectiles may be fired at once, however, they must all be within the mage’s line of sight at once and all be fired in the same direction if this is the case, lest they dematerialize. These should probably be put to the same number, and perhaps specified if this means a mage can only use it twice/thrice because of complexity, or that it takes half their mana to do so. Perhaps go once, twice, thrice for T3, T4, and T5 respectively to let it scale? Perhaps word it more like "Boomsteel weaponry counts as 2 hits to a shield. Also, what is the Bubble's radius? Is it just around the caster (1m) or can it go to 3m like an Earthen Dome? Perhaps let that be decided in the casting (1-3m)? Does it take their Major Action to break the chains? And maybe a redline about forced movement (such as a gust spell) either breaking or not working. Also this is the coolest spell I've seen, the COMBOS you could pull off asdjhfaksldjfhlakf Probably change "fractions" to "fractures". And maybe put something of how hard was pushed? (ex. "If it isn't tied down or otherwise sufficiently restrained more than a grapple, it will be easily moved by the beam not unlike being continuously pushed by a strong gale or charging knight, causing some bruising and even fractures, however if the target is pinned against a surface such as the floor or a wall, the immense force will begin to cause internal trauma and broken bones where the ray hits, effectively sandwiching them between the ray and the surface.") Holy ****, maybe uh- maybe halve that? 10 meters is gonna launch someone 2x a T5 Air Evocation Gust. Maybe put methods to escape the beam too bc I'm uncertain how one would do that other than getting behind a wall. I feel like this should be twice instead of 3 times, like how most T5 spells are considered to exhaust someone. Is it a whole city in diameter? Or does it have a limit, such as a 20x20 region of the city? Or is it left to ET fiat? "One" to "Once", and I'd say "may only" personally? But also, imo, it might be better to limit it to T2 or lesser, since this already seems like a spell meant for Scions (which is AWESOME) and so it'd actually give a bit of a restriction? Sorry if this was a LOT but this honestly looks like the COOLEST magic write I've seen (I've not seen many, mainly just Lightning Evo bc they let me help a lil w/ that one :3) and I really wanna see this one pass (if I had the fortune to learn it, my silly mage girl would enjoy casting her spells all sparkly w/ constellations and shit I couldn't really do w/ elemental spells necessarily). Seriously, good work, and it looks absolutely stunning. It works almost entirely differently to the Elemental Evocations, which lets it stand out and not really overshadow any of them, which was my worry for seeing anything Arcanism-related. Amazing, amazing work, I wanted to give it my all for feedback because of that. Please, please let this pass😭.

  15. [!] An open letter would be published to the Royal Duma. To the Duma: On Duelling Naf zwy 4th hag i Vzmey ag Hynk i 532 E.S. DEAR Royal Duma, Duels have been a part of our kingdom as a rite for many years and are an important cornerstone of our culture. They are supposed to be done as events of honour - one must spill blood to regain what is lost. However, recent events have forced me to ask the question: When does a legal duel become dishonorable? To set my understanding, I shall begin with what I believe we can all agree is good. Recently, the kingdom witnessed a duel between Patriarch Villorick and Andrey that was honourable. Both men were capable, both men were spirited, both men were armed, both men had purpose and both men engaged. What was between them was agreed readily, and inspires bravery. There was little cause for concern among these men. It is the manner with which those men commanded themselves that we hold as the idea of a duel in our common understanding. And yet, this is not what I write to dispute but it is a necessary understanding to have. What was presumably at the moment of insult, a duel was demanded between Firess Anastasia Ivanovich and Firess Ilia within the barracks. While I cannot attest to what insult was taken, I can say that Ilia has a harsh tongue and I do not doubt the claims made. However, upon the demand for a duel she refused. This woman is no soldier, or fighter of any sort. In my opinion, it should have ended there and another path of dispute taken. This was not the case. Under further pressure to comply, and fearing for the safety of her friend under their desire to act as a champion, an agreement was coerced, although Ilia had made clear her refusal to truly lift arms. This woman, with nought in her hand but a candle and a prayer on her lips, was then beaten, maimed and almost strangled to death. And yet, when the witnesses became unsettled and called for a cease, there was none. When there was intervention, the violence only proved continuous. The call was to continue by Sergeant Tatiyana vas Ruthern, that the fires Ilia should simply yield, but without her voice to use as her throat was crushed. Upon instruction to tap the ground to yield, Firess Ilia did so and hostilities ceased. This duel, then, brings about questions on the ‘commonplace’ knowledge that I have been told everyone possesses on conduct of a duel. Furthermore, it had one woman capable, and one not; one woman spirited, and one not; one woman armed, and one not; one woman with purpose, and one not; and one woman fought, and one did not. What was between them was not agreed readily, but was agreed yet frankly inspires little but disgust. I believe matters such as this sully the understanding and pride we might hold in the ancient rite of the duel, and to protect this rite and our own civility we should address the vagueness and universal label of honour all things simply verbally called a 'duel' receive. It is then that I ask of the Royal Duma to reflect, debate and propose alterations to the dueling laws, in hands more capable than mine own on the following matters or more which may arise on discussion: I. Firstly, and most importantly, that a refusal to fight ought to be considered an automatic yield, and subsequent agreed conditions on loss should take place II. accordingly II. To enforce the equality of the participants in more than social class but also in appropriate weaponry III. To bar the provoked agreeance of a duel by means of harassment IV. To consider a potential revision to the illegality of intervention upon a duel, but only when the terms of the duel may exceed the limitations set by the participants or the law Lord Marus Fabien Weiss
  16. The Physician continues in their volley of the far and near, concoction after another. She notes the distant aura about The Swordsman, offering a sweet, unconscious call. "Surtr?" She coos. A faint response. "She is here." The glow of embers grew underneath His armor, and Her face showed nothing but worry.
  17. Issued 11th of Vyzmey ag Hyff 532 E.S. With the influx of noble levy recruitment over these past years, it is imperative that the peers of our realm ensure that their actions are in line with the law of our Kingdom. As clearly stated within the Hauraul Caezk Chapter III.I, Section V.: V. “The privilege to employ a guard of retainers, of which are in service to the Crown firstly.” Such being the written law, the Brotherhood of Saint Karl will undergo a levy census in the coming year to meet with each peerage and retain a list of levy men and women who serve as personal guard to each respective family member. Said list will then be filtered through the Brotherhood's roster and those levy men who have yet to take the oath shall be given a strict time frame to complete their initiation. Any questions may be directed to the Lord Marshal, Ser Caspian Colborn, or Sergeant Tatiyana vas Ruthern. All peers are encouraged to begin compiling a list of their retainers to be presented to the Brotherhoods representative. Signed, His Excellency, Ser Caspian Colborn Lord Marshal of the Brotherhood of Saint Karl and Last of the Crow Knights of Hanseti-Ruska. Her Grace, Tatiyana vas Ruthern, Duchess of Vidaus, Countess of Metterden, Viscountess of Greyspine, Baroness of Rostig, Lady of Morteskvan, Lady of Barrows, Protector of the South.
  18. A black-robed woman with ivory skin and raven hair made her way through the very area where the final battle took place. Her presence was unsettling, a stark contrast to the devastation around her. The moonlight filtered through the shattered remnants of stained glass windows, casting eerie, fragmented patterns on the ground. Her dark robes seemed to absorb the light, creating an aura of shadow around her as she moved with an unsettling grace. She entered the stained chapel, the last vestige of sanctuary now fallen to ruin. Her fingers, pale and delicate, trailed along the sides of the splintered pews, feeling the deep grooves and scratches etched into the wood by desperate hands. The air was thick with the scent of smoke and blood, mingling with the faint, lingering aroma of incense, a reminder of prayers that went unanswered. As she walked, her voice began to rise in a soft, haunting melody. The song was ancient, its words lost to time but imbued with a sorrow and foreboding that transcended language. The notes echoed off the crumbling walls, filling the hollow space with an eerie resonance that sent shivers down the spine. Her song seemed to stir the very air, causing the remnants of the battle to shift and clatter as if in response to her lament. Each step she took was deliberate, reverent, as though she walked upon hallowed ground. Her eyes, dark blue and penetrating, took in the scene with a mixture of sadness and something darker, a satisfaction that hinted at a deeper purpose. Outside the chapel, the wind began to howl, a mournful wail that seemed to carry the voices of the dead. The trees, twisted and gnarled, swayed in a macabre dance, their branches reaching out like skeletal fingers. The fog thickened, rolling in waves across the ground, obscuring the path ahead and creating an otherworldly landscape where shadows seemed to move with a life of their own. As her song continued, the temperature dropped, and a chill permeated the air. Frost began to creep along the edges of the pews, climbing up the walls and encasing the carpet in a crystalline sheen. The once sacred space now felt like the heart of an icy tomb, a place where the living dared not tread. Her voice, now rising in a mournful crescendo, seemed to draw the very essence of despair from the surroundings, amplifying it until it was almost palpable. The darkness deepened, the shadows growing longer and more oppressive, as if responding to her call. There was a power in her song, an ancient magic that awakened the spirits of the fallen, their restless souls stirred by her mournful lament. The black-robed woman paused before the end of the isle, her song fading into the silence. She raised her hands, and for a moment, the world held its breath. Her presence here was no mere accident; it was a harbinger of things to come, a dark omen that this place, once a battlefield, was now consecrated to something far more sinister. Her fingers, still lingering on the wood, seemed to draw strength from the ancient structure, connecting her to the past and the malevolent force that now claimed dominion over these haunted ruins. In the distance, a lone wolf howled, its cry cutting through the stillness and echoing the sorrow and foreboding that hung heavy in the air. The woman’s eyes gleamed with an unsettling blue light as she turned and walked back into the shadows, the Prince’s mission complete. The chapel stood silent once more, but the memory of her presence lingered, a chilling reminder that the darkness had only just begun to spread.
  19. "That poor woman," remarked a scorned ex of the Prince. "She will be stuck in a loveless marriage with a liar and a betrayer. I can only wish her great luck she does not experience the same."

  22. The Lord Bless You and Keep You, Canondom. In the interest of aengudaemonology, I am requisitioning the abled and entrepreneurial to discover any and all lightstones that may exist in the free-markets of the world. These aengulic artifacts of not only Xannic, but broadly celestial origin, are of increasing interest for the study of heavenly energies. You will identify them by a typically golden color, a quality of absorbing the light around them, and appearing structurally similar to quartz or some similar opaque mineral. You will know with certainty what you've found, if by tapping the stone a little light is shone outwards. To each man who should find themselves successful in this endeavor, my Cardinal Callahan and I have set aside a fund to award 150 mina per stone. Seek me out, by bird or body, and be well rewarded in this exchange. It is by the efforts of the faithful shall we leave these mean times and enter fourth a period of mercy and joy unlike any other. Be blessed, and hunt well! Cardinal Callahan Bishop Alexios
