[Your View] Nameplates & Reputation Badges

Reminder: All of this is a rough draft purely for the sake of demonstration. If there is interest in making adjustments, then further feedback will be taken into account.

 

Hey everyone,

 

A few updates ago, Mojang increased the character limit for nameplates. What this means for LotC is that it's now possible to display a wealth of information, including statuses, roleplay names, health, and more, all at once. An example of how the server currently functions can be seen here:

Secondly, the forums used to have badges in the form of circles (●●●) related to reputation or post count. It seems that feature has been lost over time. We have three options: leave them removed, read them in the form of text symbols, and lastly, add custom images. In the spoiler below, I'll leave a few references, and those three options will be listed in the poll. I appreciate everyone who takes the time to vote on these polls; each one matters.

i would like if new nameplates (with usernames underneath) was an OPTION

 

having that as pure default and having no way to access what we have now (just character names) sucks

 

so it's a no from me

I like it with the name underneath but WITHOUT italics. Can maybe bold the RP name? Maybe not. Italics are just gross

Agreed, don't like the italics. Would be good to see it flipped aswell when you do /rpnames

Ideally the best thing would be full customizability. The ability to show one name or the other only, both names in either position orientation and health/no health

Love the ingame name stuff. Keeps the more important roleplay names half of it still front and center while adding the extra information of mc names. Would be neat to have a toggle where people could cycle through options of just rp names, the rp names large mc names small, or flipping the two so it is mc names large and rp names small. Or even a uci menu to fully customize and turn stuff on and off like Orlanth suggested. Great work on it!

agree, personally I have /showrpnames on quite frequently. if I need to see someone's MC name, I just do a quick toggle because I just prefer to see RP names before I see a username in most cases. I think it'd be nice to simply keep the /showrpnames toggle, but also add the /showextra command for people who want to see the extra info

This could be a very neat change. So long as it ends up allowing for customizability like everyone else ask for.

seems very interesting, but i fear metagamers/bad faith rpers
it'll just make it that easier to target someone.

I think getting the best of both worlds would be (as said by a whole bunch of other folk) making it an optional setting
