The lightning should have a cooldown of at least a few seconds, and the aim should be off. Like it'll strike within 3 blocks of where your pointed i think.

They hit roughly where you aim, not hitting people instantly and it's a warclaim against them, they're not going to NOT use their magic :P Also, it does have a significant cooldown, where if you planned it right you could be in their faces by the time it comes back.

Lighting has the lowest cooldown of all. 2.3 seconds.

1. You apparently know nothing about minecraft plugins and mods if you think worldedit is the only thing that could have caused a rollback: In fact, WorldEdit does /not/ have rollback functionality, so guess again.
