To Drive them Back. . .

A grim tide of mortals marched to Bastion, the taste of defeat still bitter upon their tongue, itching for revenge., to grind the beast to dust beneath steel boots, to hack limbs with axe, and rend flesh with sword. An army of Men, and Elves and Orc marched together, differences set aside to combat the Mordring threat.

As the armies set first upon Leopold’s Wall, they found their lines peppered by old and new corpses of men, flesh rotting or dried, animated with a foul sorcery not meant to exist. But the wall quickly fell, the attackers pushing in a furious onslaught despite their losses, which only served to infuriate them further.

Advancing through the fields, lines of Ghouls were cut down in cavalry charges, and the animated corpses of all variety were engaged in a bitter melee with the infantry, supported by lines or archers bombarding the undead foes. The battle seemed in favor, the forces of the Descendants gaining an upper hand, before a war horn blared, a deep bassy tone, which silenced the battlefield., the armies turned to see what it would herald. .

A horde of hulking masses of armor would march from the gates of Bastion, taller than an orc, voices of grinding metal and filled with nothing but hate, the Dreadknights would lumber out, flails, hammers, maces and greatsword in hand, pushing back any advance the mortals would make, but it would not end there. . .

Histghuls and Liches would also descend to cast their foul magics upon the descendents, a winning battle quickly turning into a desperate struggle for survival. Cavalry would cut down by the giants in steel armor, archer lines blown to pieces by foul magics and heroes slain by Histghul blades. The battle seemed lost before a rally took hold of the descendents.

Weary, caked in blood and sweat, filled with hate from the loss of their comrades, it feel to only the vicious Orcs, and the Stalwart forces of Men to finish this. Gathering what weapons and armor they could, a meagre force of the Knights of the Ioannian Order and a handful of Orcish champions, and a few skilled warriors, this was all that remained to combat the Mordring threat in Bastion. There was no escape, and no reinforcement would come, and they all prepared themselves for their deaths.

With a cry of defiance the meagre force charged into the lines of the Dreadknights and Archers, inspired by a Divine Force, they rent steel and rotted flash as butter by a hot knife, sending the beasts to their final fate, cutting down a Histghul and forcing the remaining Mordring troops into Bastion, cutting the bridge. the remaining forces did triumph in the face of insurmountable odds, and the descendents did prove that they would not be beaten so easy to the cowards who hid in their keep.

Chek'Lur roared, climbing out of he and Shazgob's small outpost he had made- Krug's Outhouse. He had charged into battle, facing off against Lich, Dreadknight, and Ghoul alike. Caked in blood, he fought to his last breath but was eventually forced off the battlefield and into the quarry. Chek'Lur later on read of the victory, and a grin crossed his face.
