Brothers in faith,

Today I write you not as Archchancellor of Oren, but as a devout Canonist of 80 years whose family has Priests and Knights of the Exalted Order of St. Owyn numerous in your ranks. Though I don't feel the need to exclaim my bona fides of faith at length, I have studied and practiced the scrolls longer than perhaps the most ancient of your human clergy, I do hope you see that there is nearly a century of action that come with these words.

I write today on our quarreling brothers of Canonism, our forever August Emperor and the Holy Father the Pontiff. My predecessor, Princess Josephine Augusta, a Monsignora of incredible wit and writing would address this matter better than I am likely to; I do wish she was still among the living and I ask a small prayer for her in the seven skies upon receiving this letter.

IAs for the matter of the day. I carry great concern that nearly the entire Canonist realm lives in excommunication, the body of Canon has been fully severed by its head. While I have no doubt the actions of lately have shocked the Church, rightfully so, I ask them to reconsider the very real punishment they have inflicted on GODs realm; it's largest princedom is severed from the sanctifying of the Church. I cannot help but feel that ibleese rejoices at this sorrow.

For each month that passes without the light of Canon, the vast majority of man is disconnected from his clergy and thus - further from the skies. He begins to wonder, do I need the Church? The vast majority of the clergy is without a flock to tend to, there is only so long we believe they can give service to themselves the few Churches in Haense.

The Kingdom of Haense, not but a saints week ago was deciding how to cast the Church from it's very halls, how valiant of them to have a change of faith. Even now, Orenian blood is being spilled across Almaris in retribution against the Dwarves for attacking the clergy. Shall the new Fidei Defensor join us in this defense against the Dwed pagans? We pray their faithful nation wears this mantle with the responsibility it entails.

Tell me my brothers in faith, have you found a savior - or an opportunist who has opened it's arms at the sight of two quarreling brothers?

We know the answer to this question; the fate of Canondom is intertwined with it faithful nation, Orenia, and this state of affairs is temporary - and we should seek mutually to see it put to the past.  Though we do believe, given that the entire citizenry of Orenia and it's leaders have humbled themselves - has the punishment become excessive?

While we cannot justify the singular action of recent, let us work to do no more harm between us - for a near century of cooperation has brought us closer than ever. Each family dedicates it's life to the saints, Bishops and Priests sit in our government halls of power, and Oren has advanced the scholarly understanding of the faith through the efforts of the Society for over a decade. There is no nation that loves the Church than Orenia, we ask the Church to love us back - we ask it to convey to the pontiff to lift the excessive excommunication that has been  placed on near 80% of the Canonist realm.

In Faith and Service,

Minuvas Melphestaus

"All the church is asking is that your emperor and empress make a walk of atonement. They have to do their penance, as do you. Oren propagated a schism so they should stop trying to act as the victim when their forces would have killed Everard if we weren't there to escort him out, if Everard died you would be supporting your anti-pontiff." Said Walton.

"I believe the interdict should have been lifted by now and services resumed, for those were a measure to prevent the sacraments being blasphemed by schismatics, and Oren has ceased to be in schism. The Emperor's personal excommunication should wait however, until he has undergone substantial penance like our Prince. No man should get off lightly for attempting to destroy God's Church.

If Oren cries out at the great punishment it is to be deprived of the Church now, then surely it should cry out for justice against the man who nearly deprived them of it for all time?" Jurgen remarks.

"The Archchancellor can apparently not read, as the excommunication is on Oren's government, not its people," Gunter Barclay said, shaking his head as he read the missive in the Brotherhood barracks.

I recognize what you ask the Emperor to do, good Walton.

I will not speak for him, but we advocate for the thousands of Canonists casted from the faith - we will speak for them. Tend to the flock, or let it become stray!

“Who in Godan’s name gave that benighted elf authority? Does he really think this is the time to throw accusations without logic? Regardless, he shall pay for said accusation against the Kingdom of Haense and the descendants of Joren when the time comes.” Retorted a baffled Kaustantin in the King’s office upon his leave from cabbage farming, his amazement over such stupid letter overtaking his cool demeanor.

"This should not be devolved to a matter of quarreling states, and the rivalry between Haense, Oren, and Savoy. It should not be a matter of who is most Canonist. It is a matter of faith and loyalty to the church. It is a matter of those who were, above others, as 'Fidei Defensor', supposed to 'Protect the Faith', neglecting their duty and putting the faith in peril.

Those in the Orenian government who are excommunicated may happily come forth, repent, and be allowed back into the Church, into the arms of GOD. It is the same folk you now profess as loyal Canonists, as 'mistreated' by His Holiness, who either sat silent or openly professed loyalty to the pretender Pontiff at the drop of the hat, who placed their loyalty to their secular liege above that of GOD. If the Emperor wishes to have his excommunication lifted, and to guide his people back into the Church, he shall obey the High Pontiff's recent missive.

I also find it greatly disturbing that faith seems to be, in the 'Holy' Orenian Empire, as well as among some Haeseni during the recent events, merely an excuse for conflict, a justification for war, and a weapon to be used against both the faithless and their fellow faithful alike. Canonist values and service to GOD are spat upon by both citizen and soldier, instead placing their allegiance towards their secular liege, abandoning their duty to the Church. This must be addressed before any talk of regaining the status of 'Fidei Defensor', or being trusted as true Canonists by the rest of the faithful...

I should also expect Iblees began rejoicing as soon as the Savoyard Prince and the Emperor decided to throw away all sense and faith, declaring the false Pontiff to be true. Iblees' celebrations were cut short when the true High Pontiff, Everard VI, stood tall alongside the faithful who stayed true and loyal, and fought the schism that came close to taking his Holiness' life."

Father Katerina would read the missive as she began to blink heavily. She then began to go through all missives about the royal duma she could find, before she found what she assumed the Archchancellor of Oren was referring to. The priest thus began to read it, letting out a scoff as she read the last part of it out loud.

"Therefore, the Crown compels its Royal Duma to debate the matter as to what role the Church should play in Haeseni society beyond standard sacraments - if any - and what efforts in return the Crown ought to make in support of the Church." she then shook her head once more "I do wonder... I thought an Archchancellor was supposed to be intelligent. A pity he is excommunicated or I would have prayed for the elf in hopes his wit would return to him."

The young Dosiya would become conflicted to all the anger around her and primarily sulked in her ignorance. Perhaps context could not be understood - but the emotions were. For now she pursed her lips as tears bubbled.

“I wonder whose actions got us here,” Moliana grumbled, she disliked having to worry more for the future of her children and stability of her home.  “This elf has no right to accuse others in this time, not after the rash actions of the Government to the Church.  Is this how the Empire would display themselves in conflict?  The People are not excommunicated, the Pontiff does not blame them for the actions of those who’ve just taken the throne.”

The Dowager-Duchess of Adria managed to get halfway down the parchment before she paused, inhaling sharply, as she read it within the confines of Woldzmir.

"This fool dares invoke the name of the Princess Imperial, when she died of a broken heart at the sight of her nation falling into chaos. And now he so willing serves those who betrayed her trust? He is traitor to everything she stood for!" She'd exclaim in exasperation.

As she continued reading, features scrunched up in annoyance, she seemed only to shake her head.
"The Emperor ought to temper his Archchancellor, Moliana," She'd comment over a shoulder, "This elven man will only bring more ire to the Crown if he does not."
