Imperial Response to the Tenth Nordling War

Recommended Posts

"Only God can grant them mercy from the forces of the Imperial reds. May this Tenth proclamation of war bring the end to the irrationality of the Nordling extortion." Replied the Viscount Pruvia-Provins.

Sigismund requisitions new armor be made for him for the coming war. The Count would fight for his Empire once again. Hopefully this would be the last time.

In the darkened eve of the wartimethe missive reached a lonesome statesman atop his shrinking desk.  Anton pondered the patriotic response to the supposed heathens.

His eyes drifted to the moonlight creeping through the window pane; therein his palm rested on the sill, drumming a familiar rhythm, Oren Aut Mortem: thinking. For, he could not do naught, nor sit, not in the time of a wretched battle on the horizon.

There was little to cheer for, he thought.  The man, scarcely not a boy, sought to stand, to fall back to the cushions of his bed. He slept, and dreamt amidst the lands of his deja vu, of another war.  Inevitable, it seemed.

"God."

Caspian chuckled slightly upon reading his Emperor's missive. "To say they would even occupy a footnote is more than generous. Our great Emperor, so humble and modest. Providence!"

(Pretty) Princess Helen Antonia agrees with the response, ensuring her best friend Anna sees and sends it forward. At teatime, she talks about it to everyone - her husband, her other friends, his friends - regardless of how much she actually loves such announcements.

"We shall soon give them real casus bellis!" she'd comment to them!

In fact, her fat courier Tobias is even sent to send it outwards more!

Natalia enthusiastically reads over the notice - despite being on a vacation in an unknown location, she was very thankful that she could still reliably receive such important proclamations "Never have truer words been spoken!" she commented to no one in particular..

Anna Henrietta sat and lounged with the Princess Imperial, her own eldest son, twin daughters, god-daughter and- of course Georgiana Lucille. While they all spoke of the season the missive was dropped upon the table.

"My. What a time we live in! Hopefully we can still have a good ending to our season."

The Princess Imperial, alongside the others she sat with, mused over the missive. She idly petted Atticus, her Jackalope, lifting her gaze to examine those younger girls before her. For they had not lived to see true warfare, as she had seen long ago; and her Mother before that.

"We fight for our Empire, certainly." She mused to the few "Let us hold a steadfast will - let loose the drums of war."

Maisie d'Arkent would be missing from such a gathering. Not a word from her since the declaration of war was announced!

Georgiana Lucille d'Arkent chuckled cheerfully, her furs bouncing off her busty chest. "oi'm sure yew will. Sedan was durin' las' season I reckon n' y'all had yer season still!" she'd muse in her smokers accent before going back to breathing in the lovely fumes of her Carrington TM Cigar.

Juliya Basrid, from the drawing room, couldn't help but to tug her lips into a deep-set frown as the missive was read out. "War.." She remarked solemnly, continuing to brush her gloved palm atop her kitten.

"Ai- I do hope the ball will proceed as usual." murmurs Mary Casimira in response to her mother, incling her head toward the aging dowager.

"It never changes." He says simply in response to Juliya commenting "War."

Sir Erik Othaman, Knight Commander of the Order of the Lion, smiles warmly as he read the missive out loud. He'd pause for a moment in silent thought before going to look out the window of his manor.

"They brought this war to our lands. It is the mark of the heathen to be irrational and spiteful. They have mocked us for years and berated whilst we kept our solemn promise to maintain our peaceful piety. Yet, it seems that the heretics never truly change. Time and time again have they waged this war to cause pain and suffering, only to be beaten back and return in half a century to repeat an endless cycle."

"Godan have mercy upon the Nordlings, for I shall not."

"I fight not only for the Empire, but for GOD, and all who worship GOD, I fight for the Haensmen who will face the Red Faith wrath if we fall, I fight for Luciensburg for that they may not fall under this conflict once more. The church may not deem this a crusade, but we know truly in our hearts that this is a fight to preserve our faith. We will not fail, we will not falter, we will fight on on and we will win this war. The war to preserve our nation, our way of life, our heritage, our faith. This war is but a holy war, We will not fail for it is GOD that is on our side. OREN AUT MORTEM, DEUS VULT. DOWN WITH THE INFEDELS" Screams a Patriotic Garret Darkwood fresh out of the war games ready to fight.

[!] Rubs the ear of his hound, sipping on his morning tea while reviewing the proclamation. He kicks a single leg up over the other, looking off into the Providence horizon.

"Wars fought for purity and religion....rarely do they end cleanly...God Save the Emperor, God save the Empire"

"We shall render aid to the soldiers - I did speak with a few of the courtly ladies on this matter." Chimed the Princess Imperial once more to those gathered.

"Let us mobilise the woman of Oren, hm?" She offered in a small jest, despite the heavy topic of conversation "I imagine a Nursing Order is in the works."
