🟍 The capital city of Portoregne, surrounded by the verdant Balianese Crownlands. 🟍

The city of Portoregne, otherwise known as the ‘Port of Kings’, is the capital city and central hub for the Kingdom of Balian. Founded by His Royal Majesty, Adrian I, this coastal haven was built following the descendant’s departure from Almaris and brief refuge upon the isle of Failor.

Resting upon the southernmost coastline of Aevos, formally dubbed La Costa Rubinissima, this idyllic and tropical citadel plays host to the Balianese people, helmed by the House of Novellen and their loyal vassals.

🟍 The farms of Rosemoor’s Rest, the kingdom’s agricultural base. 🟍

Rosemoor’s Rest is seen by the citizens of Balian as the kingdom’s breadbasket, providing a vast variety of crops for both consumption and trade. Along the central kingsroad, one might pay witness to the endless field of golden wheat, ripened tomatoes, and skyward-reaching corn stalks. Citrus trees bearing oranges and lemons sit in neatly-tended orchards alongside smaller groves of olives and heather.

Further away from the city rests the Recinto Fete, or the city’s fairgrounds, which plays host to various cultural events and general merriment. Indulge in a cask of the nation’s local vintners or take a turn in the tourney list to win the victor’s laurel.

🟍 The Piata de Regne, the city’s main square and trading hub. 🟍

The Piata de Regne and the adjoining Piata de Doyennes comprise the central square and public thoroughfare of Portoregne. The city’s tavern, called The Hungry Hippo, sits as the most prominently-featured business, ready to entice any famished patrons into partaking  in a spot of wine beside the canals. With a clinic, a public forge, and a bevy of citizen-owned shopfronts, the Twin-Piata offer up much and more to both the weary traveler and the willing customer.

🟍 The Duana Hall, the formal meeting chamber of the monarch’s council. 🟍

The Duana Hall and its surrounding complex are the center of all government within the city of Portoregne, apart from the palatio itself. It serves as the place of assembly for both the monarch’s Duana council and the Concio, who govern the city itself. Heading the Royal Duana is the monarch’s Amiratus, presently Don Gaius var Ruthern, whilst the current Syndic of Portoregne is Princess Lydia Novellen

Offices for each Duana member and the city’s Syndic, akin to an elected Mayor, are housed here. Trials conducted by the kingdom’s  Magister are likewise hosted in the hall’s courtroom.

🟍 The powerful gates of The Royal Balianese Armada, the kingdom’s formal military. 🟍

The Royal Balianese Armada, recently reformed and restructured under the guidance of Constable Dante DeNurem, houses all members of the kingdom’s standing military. Turning away from their previous status as an entirely landlocked entity, the Armada is the head of  all things related to the navy and produces most of the nation’s ships. The Constable is in constant search for even more  able-bodied men and women to fill the ranks of the Armada.

🟍 The sunkissed belltower of the Basilica la Holy Supernals, the city’s place of Canonist worship.🟍

The Basilica la Holy Supernals stands as the beacon of Canonism within the city’s walls, a place of worship for citizens and nobility alike. With its great central spire and brightly-colored exterior, it evokes the brightness of the holy lorraine itself. The basilica’s daily running is upkept by Pater Teodosio, Cardinal Tyria, who is often hosting holy masses and education seminars on religious history and mindfulness.

🟍 The front gardens of the Palatio Arancione, the royal seat of House Novellen 🟍

The Palatio Arancione or ‘The Orange Palace’ is the formal seat of House Novellen, who rule the Kingdom of Balian and its coastal realm. Inspired by the previous Palatio Monterosa of Atrus, the royal residence embraces an open-air interior which adds a cohesion with the city’s tropical environment. Lined with lush citrus trees and a bevy of tranquil pools, the palatio is more akin to a peaceful retreat than the formal residence it truly is.

The day-to-day operation of the royal court is attended to by both Her Royal Majesty, Queen-consort Andromeda Ester of Ba’as and her appointed Palatiodora, Dona Serena d’Arkent

🟍 Hall de Giuan, the monarch’s formal throne room. 🟍

The heart of the kingdom is undoubtedly the Hall de Giuan, where the monarch of Balian governs their realm from the maw of the Dragonslayer’s Throne. A relic hauled with great effort from the realm of Almaris, this hulking reminder of Balian’s survival against impossible odds now sits as the powerful seat of His Royal Majesty, Adrian I and is named for the valiant efforts of his late father, King Alexander I in defense of the Balianese people.

🟍 The seedy sewers of Portoregne, a darkened and untraversed undercity.🟍

Below the streets of Portoregne, however, lies a darkened network of sewers and tunnels that are as of yet uncharted. It is rumored that there is an entire undercity just beneath the surface, but only one brave enough to venture into the depths could know for certain. The Syndic offers reward to any citizen or traveler interested in uncovering the mysteries that have cropped up since the arrival of the Balianese upon the shores of Aevos.

An aged Captain DeNurem grinned at the mention of another DeNurem, alive. "Ah! So we aren't the last ... Thank t'gods."
