Not signing since if I do I won't be able to fight in the current war for Veletz. But I would otherwise.

That being said, I have only ever seen an enormous amount of dedication from this player base, and while I do not necessarily agree with all of their politics or out-of-character behavior, they (Barclays) have been amongst the most driven player bases on the server for going on 3 years. The difference between the Barclays and these other "New Realms" is as following:

By leaving Aaun to form this new player group, it may incidentally serve as the spark that kills Aaun activity, resulting in the nation being dissolved. If Aaun survives this incident and swims rather than sinks, oh well, the addition of Minitz as an additional nation is simply in line with the current balkanization of the human player base going back to the destruction of Oren in the Harvest Revolution. This will not be fixed until the rule set and game-play nerfs the existence of huge peace-keeping coalitions, or until the coalition implodes and begins killing itself once it has no "Other" to unify them.

 

The Barclays and Minitzers have had enormous political and role-play impacts on the server. As a Moderator, I would often see their activity for going on a year on and off was higher than most of the server's activity. I would make the argument that Minitz has been more active than almost all of the Elven Nations put together. The reality is that they have been very great at providing noobs with game-play and have a unique and rich culture that many noobs find appealing.

 

While I do not approve of certain out-of-character actions taken by members of their player group, those same critiques can easily be levied at most of the current server which rules through instrumentalizing foreign policy and role-play through Discord. On the other hand, as a Ferryman player, I have only ever had positive experiences fighting Minitz bar a handful of exceptions, and the players there almost always conduct themselves respectfully, afford great meaning and thoughtfulness to their role-play no matter the circumstance, and have a tight-knit community that is very similar to humanity during 2015-2016 under the Old Empire.

 

Minitz is a focal point of the server's recent history from 2020-2024, and if Aaun and Hyspia and other tiny ass charters can be given "Settlements", it is ridiculous to deny Minitz.

Splitting and creating yet another realm, far up north where other realms continue to go to die, is prone to becoming an empty city or  ST ruins down the road. It is what it is, and if you've so much as looked at the forums you'd have seen there were several forum posts (with 200+ replies between them all) that had the general consensus that new realms = bad.

These guys have been solo carrying the nations they vassalized under since Savoybileti. They made those horrible savannah islands on Almaris work, I don't think their choice of location is really going to slow them down. And since their release from their oaths of vassalage has already played out in character I don't think the number of existing realms is really relevant.

I don't think there ever was a general consensus on that, in fact I think there were a variety of different opinions on the matter. So much so that it warranted that many replies because of how controversial it was.

Regardless, why would an active player base who roleplay twice as much as most communities not be warranted their own realm after years of input? There's a genuine issue, I find, with criticizing roleplay moves made by groups in regards to them wanting sovereignty. Perhaps the answer for you, to the question of 'where is my roleplay gone' is to fix problem with your communities that have drastically seen a dip in activity rather than attacking communities seeking to do more with what they already have.

 

I'm not playing a persona here, and I know this will only clutter the realm with more ooc nonsense, but I figured it had to be said. I defend Reinmar.

I gotta agree with so many others. Barclays has an incredible rich roleplay history and a huge activity of active members. They are experts in including and welcoming new players into their group and teaching them how to role play and not just in a “Join our army teehe, here is your weekly pay.» 

 

Whilst yes sone of their players have not behaved right on an oocly level, I would say there are nation leaders and leaderships that have acted way worse. And the past is the past, we should allow players the chance to show that they have grown up from their mistakes. So a big +1 from me to the Barclays and good luck!
