  1. Deep Iron Rarity: Rare Color: Matt black with waves of shiny black Value: Valuable Note: This mineral cannot be obtained via standard mining, this is purely a lore mineral. Obtaining this metal is costly and dangerous as you need to mine the ores from the deepist depths you can possibly go. It is a very tough and very light metal and can retain a sharp edge for a very long time. The durability of this metal makes it great for tools but very good for armour and swords Founders The smithing guild of agnarum Gimli "Gimler" Metalfist Balrog "Tunnelrat" Grandaxe Tesel Silvervein Hammerforge Bwelch Azaghul Aridan Grandaxe Belestram Sylvaeri Vagronda anvilaxe Origins The dwarfs of the smithing guild of Agnarum noticed just how some of the iron from deep in the mines looked off and didn't behave like the common iron we all know. This iron would normally just get thrown away but this time they decided to look in to it. They tried to work it like any normal metal but noticed that it seems to compact itself down thus needing more ore just to make a single ingot. after noticing that i will take a lot more than a normal forge to make this ingot they began work on a better forge, when they were able to finally make a ingot it took 10 ore chunks just to make a single ingot and extreme heat but once in a ingot it became extremely resistant to heat and surprisingly light thus making it hard to reforge in to items. Forging To forge this metal it required extreme heat to the point where the smith doing it would have to wear a protective suit or treated leather as well as having someone apply water to cool them down often. Once the metal is up to heat, A new piece of equipment that Agnarums resident inventor. (Bwelch Azaghul) had made a "Power hammer " needs to be used to draw out the metal in to blank or armour piece or tool head as no-one can stand close enough to forge out the metal. Sword use Once in a blank form the smith will grind out the sharp edges with a pure quartz grindstone turning at high speeds, the smith then go about tempering the blade the water used is brought in from the top of a mountain where it is very cold and contains little to no impurities the blank in. The blank which now can be classed as a blade is heated back up and tempered. It then goes back to the grindstone to finish off the sharpening as well as polishing the blade. The blade now has a very unique look being matt black with waves of shiny black running through the blade also the blade is also very light. Armour use Once the armour plate is formed the piece is reheated and placed in water from a top a mountain to strengthen the piece one last time the piece is then polished to reveal the unique pattern in the metal (thus cannot be formed in to a solid breast plate as the metal don't flex much and would restrict movement too much) Tool head Once formed in to the tool head it is then ground down on a grindstone at high speed to sharpen the edges and then tempered in water from on top of a mountain. It then goes back to the grindstone to polish and finish sharpening this will reveal the unique pattern of the metal.

  4. Three months were allowed to the Dwarves of Az'adar and Ord to make amends after their declaration of war, three months during which some of them visited Kaz'Ulrah, though most refused to and remained within their temple. Beneath the mountain remained a High Queen, adamant at retaining her words and acting on it. Koralon sat on the Kaz'Ulrah throne, her graying hair dangling from beneath the simple steel circlet she wore, the dancing flames glinting within its sapphire gemstone. Some empty mugs of ale and platters of meat remained on the tables in front of her from the previous meeting of the clergy. Her mind was, however, set on another topic. Another target. "Once my home." She spoke to her fellow Dwedmar after emerging from the throne room. "Now they declared themselves an enemy. But even before their sword was raised, the war was over for them. An unlikely ally arose in a moment of strife, an elven Peacemaker, a King true to his word on peace and thrive for prosperity. A king who was slain in front of my eyes, by those who hide in their so-called temple." She straightened herself, her frail posture still many inches taller than the mountain dwarves on her side. "When the Zahrer the Conspirator arrived to the city on an offer to sustain peace and make amends for his slight against the Dwedmar, he instead demanded we cease aggression, fear glancing in his eyes, fears that the Dwedmar he fought for so long would rally in arms against him, fear that he'd be overthrown once more and his taint on this world would finally come to an end. The very man once so confident in the restoration of a fallen kingdom now quivers as clan father over a traitor family, killing peacemakers, killing fellow Dwedmar." "Know, however, that many of them came to our Kingdom, with kind words, pleas, apologies or amends proper. Many came whom we spoke to, many whom we welcomed and many who will not be target of our crusade. Ulhart Grandaxe, Fimlin Grandaxe, Dizzy the still-Irongrinder, Tharrgus Irongut, Gror Ireheart and Yeulf Irongut: know that unless you march to the aid of Arcadia, no axe will be raised against you, no slight of honour will be held against you and you will be allowed to reclaim what is yours from the fallen temple." As the Dwedmar listened, their Queen shifted in her stand and lifted her left hand to gesture towards her heart. "I offer you each, to follow me on this crusade. I offer you each to rid this world of the Undead-Lord, of the Conspirator, of the Traitor to the Dwedmar. If he builds yet one more flying city, we will fire hooks at it and crash it into the mountain. If he makes alliance with Khorvad, we shall invoke the Brathmordakin and purge him along with his lord." "Arcadia shed its scales and re-dressed as a temple, a temple without statues of the Brathmordakin, with statues of Runelords and with altars of unknown powers. We will march on their cesspool of corruption, raze it to the ground in the memory of those they slighted and use their bricks to construct a statue of Dungrimm so that the Undead-Lord remembers not to slight the Guardian of the Dead. We shall not stop until the kingslayers are fallen." As she said that, war horns of the eight clans within the kingdom sounded up, war horns calling for a march, a march south straight at the enemy. Kavir oz Arcadia, Narvak oz Khazadmar! Narvak oz Abelas! 6. [!] A paper could be found nailed to most Noticeboards, including the Dunshire Noticeboard The Peace-Warriors of Dunshire! ~Dunshire, the home of the Peace-Warriors~ Since the War of Peace has been declared, I've noticed that we have no military to fight it! So, let us form a basic militia of peace that will keep all of Altas safe from harm! The Peace-Warrior's Pledge: "I pledge allegiance to the great people of Altas, who be so fair and varied in look and style. I pledge to protect all children, all men, all women, and others who are threatened by war, and I pledge to never become the threat of war that I have pledged to protect others against!" "I promise that I will never bear a lethal weapon against another while campaigning for Atlas-wide peace, and I promise that I will never harm others even with non-lethal weapons unless there is no other option." "And lastly, I pledge that I will always uphold the good morals of peace, prosperity, and comfort for all that I wish to bring to the rest of Atlas" The Tools of Peace: -Shovels, for they represent the humble peasant who is threatened by wars on Atlas. -Eggs and Snowballs, for they represent the projectiles of childish play instead of projectiles of war and destruction. -Cake, for it represents comfort and prosperity that does not come with war. -Pumpkins, for they grow plentiful and plump, and are not associated with war in any way. -The heart, for all good comes from it. ~An example of a Peace-Warrior, although most Peace-Warriors wouldn't use a shield, of course~ Our Mission: Unlike other groups who attack and destroy others, the Peace-Warriors will only bring goodness to the world, and thus all they do will be completely peaceful. We shall protest against war with our Tools of Peace in hand, and we shall bring about a better tomorrow! How do I join this benevolent group?: Please fill out the following format and send it to Dunshire for us wee folks to look over! 8. *Notices are strung up in every nation and settlement* I, Ogdan Frostbeard, have returned to the surface. To see the place I once called home empty no cheering in the halls, no clamor of joy, just emptyness. I returned to my desert home only to find it ransacked and torn apart. I am deeply saddened by not the materials I lost. But the sentimental value of some of those things that were taken from me. I am asking everyone who has heard my name, seen my inventions, or read my writings to return any of the following to me for a reward. - Books Written by Ogdan Frostbeard and or [Master Engineer] Ogdan Frostbeard - Inventions made by myself, Ogdan Frostbeard. These items I hold dear to my heart and have poured my heart into many of these writings and inventions. I am deeply angry with myself for not putting these in safekeeping. However I hope the good of the people will return these belongings to me. You will be compensated, I guarantee that. - Ogdan Frostbeard, Grandson of Gorum Frostbeard, Master Engineer.

  12. The throne room fell silent as news reached the the High Council. Kerwyr slumped in his chair, resting the weight of his head upon his closed hand. A bleakness lingered within Jornheim’s hallowed halls, the foul taste of betrayal fresh upon the tongues of those that sat there. Wulfstag stood, addressing the King: “Yer majesty. T’eir ultimatum had no intention of resolution. T’ey simply deny our sovereign’y. Per’aps peace is never what they seeked.” He lingered for a moment, but Kerwyr stayed seated, collecting his thoughts. “T’ey march on our lands, now. T’ey plan to butcher our customs.” Cole D. Frostbeard roared, jumping from his seat. The court began to unsettle, the halls for a long time had housed merriment and laughter but now echoed with the burden of dispute and disagreement. “We shoul’ nae ‘ave let t’em killed establish a new foothold, we should’ve foreseen t’eir aggressions. T’ey turn t’eir sigh’s for our shores now. Barradin said calmly, in contrast with the distressed hall. “We will march for them first, too long ‘ave we waited for to draw swords - now is the ‘our we draw swords together.” Many of the Dwarves began to silence, examining those around them. Brothers of the Stone, they had faced many adversities against from the troubles. The Dwarves in this hall had seen too many felled brothers and fathers, memories still raw. Their bickering came not from a disagreement, but from the mutual understanding that they did not want to see those faces around them disappear and not return to these halls. They turned to their King, who remained slumped, staring idly at the foot of his throne. Gradually the Dwarf pushed himself out of his chair, slowly walking down to meet his brothers. He raised his head bestowing a reassuring gaze upon those around him. “We will not endure the stagnation of stale Kings, those who hold office only to satisfy their lust for governance. The interests of dwarfkind lie with us, with progression and productivity in our conglomerate. Rally the legions, we march upon them now - blood spilt will be just cause for an end to this war.” Kerwyr placed a hand on the shoulder of Garrond as he walked past slowly: “This story has been told before, they say we dwarves be cursed with greed, but dwarfkind is cursed only by age old hegemonic nepotists. For the blood we will spill, I am sorry - but I sleep well knowing that the deaths of our brothers have been in defense of our ideals, and I would just as well give up my throne now than allow our way of life to be compromised. “ Kerwyr rests for a moment, turning back towards his throne and climbing the steps. Garrond steps forward once more, bowing his head to the King. “T’ere is one I coul’ follow, t’ere is on I coul’ call King.” The remaining Dwarves begin to follow suit, gathering in an arch around the base of the throne, bowing their heads as the King retakes his seat. He ushers them raise their stares as he speaks. “The time of the Senate is over, the age of Kaz’Ulrah has begun.” Roars erupt from the Grand Hall, the Dwarves showing each other a bittersweet embrace. King Kerwyr looks to his Consul, unmoved by the ruckus. “So it begins.” WARCLAIM Tier Chosen: 1 Type of battle: Skirmish Date And Time: 24th of June Side A: Kingdom of Kaz’Ulrah and Allies Side B: Dwarf Rebels and Allies Location and boundaries: https://i.gyazo.com/d937a034c4298845661ad2e3a67cb2cf.png https://i.gyazo.com/2cff0ee2874569f8d6c6cb379cf0807b.png Terms of Victory Upon Victory For... 13. Dungrimm's Folk “The day that we forsake unity for petty rivalries and greed is the day we fall. I end this book with only words that I wish for all dwarves to one day heed. Stand as one and we are capable of achieving any length of greatness. Stand alone however and we will die alone.” Paragon Valen Grandaxe, Shortly before ascent to the halls of Khaz'A'Dentrumm Dungrimm’s folk are a weathered company of Urguanite elites, conceived to rid Urguan of the foul beasts that lurk in the snowy mountains of Kal’Nikaer. The Folk have had several unsuccessful incarnations in modern history, but find true cause in the current events surrounding the Grand Kingdom. Once wearing Dungrimm’s tabard, all Folk are Kin, loyal to the cause. Whilst encouraged to appreciate their heritage and their own clans, a conscript pledges themselves solely as servants to the Brathmordakin and the Folk whilst in active service. Dungrimm’s folk strive to entertain an era of purity and prosperity in Urguan, ridding corruption from all corners of Axios. Whilst its loyalties lie with the Brathmordakin, the Folk rally to just causes of the Grand Kingdom. It is their desire to preserve Yemekar’s balance and ensure the Grand Kingdom endures through all adversities. ‘To my dearest Kerwyr, Look not to feud those within our own halls; our politics, our in fighting, it is all pointless now. A darkness rises in the east, one that we cannot crush whilst in disagreement - one that threatens the balance of all that is decent in our world. We unite under two common enemies. Heed my words now, for what I write will no doubt alter the course of your lives; it is with a heavy heart that I ask this of you. The land lays riddled with beasts of the void, it is plagued with the spawn of a daemon, it is your duty to ensure Urguan is free of these behemoths and undeads. You must form a band. Select well, for those you choose now will stand beside you in the bleakest of times. Pick only the bravest, strongest Urguanites the Grand Kingdom has to offer. Train them in the mountains, teach them of the Brathmordakin, educate them of the Folk. It has failed before, but not this time. The strength of Dungrimm will enable us, a small but faithful band, to overcome the multitude of the faithless. Dungrim bless you brother, Velwyn Ireheart.’ -A letter scribed by Velwyn Ireheart to Kerwyr Frostbeard Faith Dungrimm tests us, he tries our faith. He shows us the path when it doesn’t seem clear. We must serve him now if we wish for him to guide us to his fortress in the seven skies. If we live with conviction and faith, we will be rewarded. The Brathmordakin spoil us, they have created us to live as their servants, to act as their ambassadors to the mortal realm. It is our duty, as protectorates of Urguan, to repay those who rule so fairly over us. To pay homage is no burden, it is an honor as sentient and intelligent beings; allowing yourselves to be encompassed by the great aura of the pantheon is a true celebration. ‘Lay thine axe upon the gilded sigil, adorned upon the tallest peak of the steepest mountain, and you will be blessed by him. He will see your strength, he will feel your courage, and you will feel his will. When you return, reborn from your pilgrimage, then will you be true of heart and pure of mind. Folk of Dungrimm.’ -Blessed prayer, sermon of an unblooded Folk. Notable Slayings Dungrimm’s Bane - Whilst the undead launch a second attack on Kal’Agnar, incumbent Marshal and Grand King Vorstag Ireheart duels a large Khorvad spawn to reclaim the fabled ‘Armor of Urguan’ and repel the undead legion from Urguanite land. Whilst successful, the creature slays Vorstag in a bloody conflict that leads both combatants dead. Frost Trolls - An expedition to the northern mountains of Athera leads several of Dungrimm’s Folk into a chilling battle between troll and dwed. Whilst limited in numbers, the Folk made use of structurally vulnerable cave systems to crush their opponents, retaining all dwed life. Demigryph - A Frostbeard patrol headed by Marshal Kerwyr Frostbeard is ambushed by a corrupted bandit atop a demigryph. In the steep conditions of Kal’Nikaer, Kerwyr is almost slain but executes the bandit and their corrupted mount. The events following this particular incursion, encounters with pale knights and mounted ghouls led to the third reformation of Dungrimm’s Folk. Medals & Honors Medal of Dungrimm Awarded for showing gallantry in battle Medal of Urguan Awarded for showing brotherhood in all fields Medal of Victory Awarded for leading consecutive victories. Recognition of Loyalty Awarded for staying with the Folk for a stone month Recognition of Faith Awarded for showing dedication to your patron God Recognition of Bravery Awarded for finishing ten demonic beasts Ranks Officer Marshal Leader and head of the Folk. 17. The BoulderBear Clan The BoulderBear clan originates from generations of Nomads, Traders and Hunters from a variety of different clans throughout the ages, though it should be noted that the majority of the members fit the standard classifications of Mountain Dwarves due to their fiery red hair and broad, strong upper bodies. For many generations The BoulderBears have wandered about the lands, either following game or simply going where the money was, It would be rare for them to be found settling in the same place for too long if there are better opportunities elsewhere- because of this many of the members have been almost completely overwhelmed by greed, focusing only on moneymaking for themselves or their kin, and in that greed they have mostly exercised chaotic neutrality amongst other clans, often only remaining loyal to the Grand King if they are called upon in war. Aside from the Grand King, the BoulderBears would only truly serve whoever would benefit them the most, which eventually lead to their controversial motto "The BoulderBear's allegiance is with the highest bidder." and if you are lucky enough to be 'the highest bidder' then no task is too tall, so long as the correct payment is available, they certainly aren't afraid to get their hands dirty. It would be worth knowing that due to their lengthy amounts of time spent away from society and only in the company of other clansmen, the BoulderBears can often be very traditional with many of their usual activities, common examples being fighting shirtless (So not to forsake their clothing and material possession), the wearing of black bearskin to symbolise leadership or creating and following order through the use of contracts made and amended exclusively by the ClanFather. Outside of usual business and general greed, hunting is an integral part of the Clan's culture and interests, so much so that when settling in a non business location, BoulderBears will usually make camp in any location known for big game, especially bears (hence the name). It is also common for the BoulderBears to keep wolves or large dogs as pets to aid their hunting efforts, whilst equipped with a proper spear or tomohawk, BoulderBears often act as ferocious beast masters in times of battle. Large and muscular, with a layer of fat above Eyes: Green Hair: Red Skin: Pale Markings/Tattoos: Unusually conservative, tattoo-wise. Only his left arm bears markings, a complicated blue knot-work pattern from the shoulder to just above the elbow joint. Bears multiple scars all over his body, which will likely multiply in future Health: No Issues Personality: Angus is a simple soul. At worst, he is loud, impulsive, and short-tempered, quick to defend serious slights on his pride and honour. At best, he is immensely loyal to his friends and those who have earned his respect. He is very fun-loving, and enjoys strong liquor, good company, music, and friendly brawls. He has a quiet love of nature, artwork, and music in his own simple way: he deeply loves the landscapes of his Dwarven home, takes great pride and interest in metal-working decorations, and is deeply interested in the drinking songs, sea shanties, and folk music of taverns and ports across Athera. He dislikes war waged over trivial disputes; greed, racism, and the like. While he tries to avoid or talk himself or others out of such conflicts, he is quite enthusiastic about fair, friendly fist fights and barroom brawls that end in a resolved conflict and no hard feelings on either side. In fact, he considers such fights one of the most enjoyable activities in life. War in the defense of the Dwarven people and homeland, or war to combat injustice, end grudges, and honour alliances have his full backing. Appearance: Angus Cairnfist is a large, muscular Mountain Dwarf in his prime. His most defining feature is perhaps his green tartan kilt. He deeply dislikes trousers as he finds they restrict movement and so wears his kilt whenever possible, without anything underneath, even in the cold of the Dwarven mountains. He once wore a glorious set of mutton-chops in his youth, but is now growing a grand Dwarven beard. His face has the appearance of being carved out of rock by a drunken sculptor: it is craggy and ugly-looking to most non-Dwarves. His face is weather beaten, with prominent cheek bones, emerging crow's feet, large bushy eyebrows, a large cleft chin often covered by his beard, and a nose that didn't quite heal well after being broken in a pub brawl many years ago. His arms, legs, chest and back are covered with a Sean Connery level of coarse red hair. Inventory/Clothing: His day-to-day outfit consists of a kilt of green tartan (the upper half of which is usually kept wrapped around his upper body in the style of a sash, but may be unraveled and worn like a hooded cape when traveling), from which hangs a leather sporran pouch decorated with scrolling leather-work and fur. His kilt is secured by a kilt pin. Angus' is decorated with the symbol of the Cairnfists - a fist within a twin-peaked mountain, surrounded by a ring with a knot-work design. He wears a large belt around waist, where he ties various pouches for holding things or tucks his axe or weapon sheathes. Tied around his torso is a baldric, upon which he slings his heavy weapons (warhammers, claymores, etc.) across his back. He wears simple pauldrons lined with fur and heavy leather and metal vambraces of dwarven make. Recently, he has taken to wearing a coat of mail under his grey cotton top, after being stabbed twice while on Legion duty. He wears nothing on his lower body except for warm, often mud-splattered fur-lined boots and socks, preferring to let his kilt cover up the space between his waist and knees. ~Music~ Life Style Alignment: Neutral Good Religion: Worships the Brathmordakin, favors Dungrimm Job/Class: Soldier in the Dwarven Legion, experienced/former Bartender, looking into Weapon Smithing. Title: Stoneguard Professions: Blacksmith, Chef, Miner Aspirations/Goals/Plans: Become a skilled smith, capable of creating great metal work and capable of crafting great personalized weapons for clients. Rise through the ranks of the Dwarven Legion, attaining respect and honour on and off the battlefield. Become a Bartender and return to the lively and beloved pub atmosphere. An idea yet to form in his head is learning to write well in order to pen a collection of books on drinking songs and folk music. Interested in learning about exotic and rare weapons. Special Skills: High tolerance to cold from wearing kilts at high altitudes. Ability to hide small objects and weapons in his facial hair (common among Dwarves). Plays a few instruments. Flaws: Angus can be brash, loud, and blunt in his speech and manner without meaning to be. He often offends people without really meaning to. He is often foul-mouthed. Still young for a Dwarf, he is prone to acting on impulse and has a short temper, which can be triggered by insulting or questioning his honour. Has some prejudices against other races, particularly Humans of Oren and High Elves. Harbours a secret fear of mines and small tunnels, preferring large halls and the outdoors. Race Relations: Angus was taught several misconceptions about certain races growing up, making him mistrustful of most non-Dwarves. However, recent encounters with a Human diplomat who explained his philosophy to Angus, a kind Human chef who employed him for a short while, and several Elves convinced him to open his mind. Dwedmar (Dwarves): Angus' own race. He judges his kinsmen based on their individual actions and personalities. However, he is still more likely to side with a Dwarf if push comes to shove. Umros (Humans): Angus has, until recently, considered all Umros untrustworthy and usually dishonourable and his sort stay in the Human capital nearly convinced him of this for good. Yet despite the brutality, ignorance and hate he witnessed in the Human capital, he has since met a few Humans who showed him great kindness and civility. He now only distrusts Humans of Oren, considering them mostly brutes and bigots. The rest he judges by their individual actions. He grudgingly respects Humans on their talent for waging war and their will to live. Halflings: Angus has a great love for the simple and laid-back Halfling lifestyle and culture, and is greatly fond of this race, as well as their love of drink, pipeweed, and parties. Elgus (Elves): Raised on tales of Elven arrogance, Angus has since met some kindred spirits and a few who fit negative stereotypes perfectly. Now he judges them individually, while maintaining some prejudices about High Elves. He respects Elves on their agility and skill in combat. Orkos (Orcs): Angus once thought all were savage, violent warriors, but has met a few who seem more friendly and civilized than most, if those terms can be used to describe Orcs. Perhaps more than any other race, Angus respects the Orcs on their great skill in war and strength and fierceness in battle. Kharajyr: Has only seen this race in passing, and is slightly unnerved by their appearance. Yet, he is dedicated to keeping an open mind, and so judges by the individual. Undead: Bears them deep hatred, especially those who dishonour the corpses of his fellow Dwarves. Will likely kill on sight. Weaponry Fighting Style: Skilled, but blunt and brutal. Nothing fancy; it gets the job done. Personal Weapons (weapons most likely to be used by Angus): Likes to be armed at all times. Favours a large claymore sword as a primary weapon, and usually carries a smaller secondary sword along with a general purpose axe. Almost always has his dirk knife, featuring a carved wooden hilt decorated with Dwarven knot work, in one of three places- his boot, his belt, or hidden within his beard. Trained Weapons: Trained in a variety of weapons by his local militia and uncle growing up. Has attained more proficiency through training with the Legion. In descending order of greatest to lowest proficiency: -Great swords, bastard swords, claymores, and doppelhänder type swords, -Regular sized swords, -Knives, -Axes, -Warhammers, -Poled weapons such as halberds Angus is also very proficient in unarmed combat from years of friendly bar fights and competitive boxing matches. Has a very strong defensive stance and powerful striking power, but would likely be outclassed and outmaneuvered by those trained in advanced martial art styles. Favored Weapon: Massive claymore swords, the bigger the better. Archery: Completely useless with a bow. Some competence with crossbows. After the battle was won, at great cost to the Dwarves, they searched the battlefield wearily for the dead, and found Riastrad buried underneath the corpses of his foes. His friends removed his battered body from the field, and grieved for him, and build a great cairn of stones above his body so scavengers and carrion-beasts would not disgrace his final resting place. They drank to his name one last time and reluctantly marched away to the next battlefield, leaving behind his lonely stone cairn in a grove of pines upon a rocky cliff. Yet as night began to fall and the former battlefield fell silent, Riastrad refused to die. Awaking trapped in his tomb of stone, Riastrad was so filled with rage at the thought of dying a prisoner that he flew into a frenzy, and for ten straight hours, he punched his way out through the great stones and emerged with bloodied knuckles into the morning sun. Exhausted and wounded, he limped after the tracks left by his fellow soldiers. His friends awoke in their camp the next day to his wrathful blood-soaked visage looming over them. From that day forth he became known as Riastrad Cairnfist, and his descendants took his name to honour his memory and stubborn spirit to survive and be free. Thus the family of the Cairnfist Dwarves began, and gained respect as a small but proud family as their generations survived through the years. ~= Recent History and the Birth of Angus Cairnfist=~ Many long years had passed and the modern Cairnfists were moderately successful and living in a small Dwarf settlement nestled deep in the mountains. Angus Cairnfist was born in this village to Cogadh and Agnes Cairnfist, miners of little social standing. By all accounts the Cairnfists were good parents, Agnes being warm and supportive, and Cogadh being quiet but fair and good-humoured. Angus was raised on stories and songs told to him by his grandfather Caelin, a noted sea captain and veteran of several naval battles and adventures, who was unfortunately lost at sea when Angus was barely growing stubble. A few decades later, Angus had begun to train as a blacksmith under his uncle Grodbanks. When he had just begun to enter his teenage years, he experienced great tragedy. His parents and three others were lost in a mining accident that flooded half of the village’s active tunnels. It was after this event that Angus began to wane from his duties under his uncle and became something of a rowdy unemployed youth, and could often be found in the local pubs or engaging in competitive backstreet boxing matches with the other young Dwarves of the village. He maintained his friendship with his Uncle but refused offers of lodging or employment. One night, Angus (now a Dwarf recently come of age) was kept over-night in the town jail after the events of a particularly destructive fight that could be traced from the splintered table where the first drunken insults began, through the bar’s window, down the street and through several farmer’s fields. Disillusioned with his wayward lifestyle, he talked to his great aunt Cailleach Anvilshunder, the owner of the settlement’s main tavern and resident giver of sage advice. She revealed the origin story of Mad Uncle Ketach Cairnfist, the town drunk who was conveniently sprawled over the counter next to the two: Ketach had spent his life very similar to how Angus was spending his at the moment, without much care for others or his future, and was now regarded as the black-sheep of the family. Scared straight, he approached his Uncle Grodbanks with the intent to join the army and bring honour to his family name. Angus was employed to test his Uncle’s weapons and armour for quality, and thus began his training and become skilled in combat. After many years, and the migration and dispersal of his village through various realms, a much more mature but still young and impulsive Angus left to find work in the realm of Athera. ~=Present Day=~ (to be updated as events occur) Angus, unemployed and looking for work, was hired as a bartender by the human Vinnie the Chef. During his rather short stint there, a drunken human soldier became angry that Vinnie would hire a Dwarf instead of a human, among other things, and attempted to attack the chef when he defended Angus. Angus, feeling obliged to aid his employer, confronted the man but was disappointed after he left without a fight. Still, the event helped to change his opinion of Humans, which had been previously lowered upon seeing various actions of brutality and racism in the Human capital city. He soon quit his job to return to Dwarven lands, and there joined the Legion military. After a time serving the Legion contently, Angus found himself at the front-lines of a great and terrible event in Athera's history. The Dwarven Legion had taken up a defensive line to protect a great pair of ancient Dwarven doors, having learned of a mysterious horrible power that lay behind it. Angus could not have guessed that when the doors were opened, Khorvad himself would be unleashed. Deeply disturbed by the event, he drank himself into a stupor, desperately trying to drown out the sight of the Betrayer being freed. He succeeded, but not for long: he soon relearned the terrible news from his fellow Dwarves. Angus' wait for Khorvad to act against the races was not in vain; but he did not expect it to arrive in the form of a bloody and disastrous civil war between his Dwarven kin. After the declaration of the Underkingdom, Angus prepared himself for battle. Angus played the bagpipes at the Battle of Kal'Agner, in an effort to inspire the great mix of races defending the Dwarven capital. The Dwarves and their allies fought hard but to no avail, and the city fell. Greatly saddened and angered, Angus now waits in Hiebenhall with the other Dwarves, waiting for his chance to destroy the Khorvadic Empire and take back his homeland. /\ /\ / \ / \ / /\ \/ /\ \ / / \/ / \ \ / / /\ \/\/\ \ \ \ \ \/\/\ \/ / / \ \/ / /\/ / / \ \/\/\ \/\/ /\/\ \/\/\ \ / / /\ / /\ \ / / /\ \/ /\ \ \ \ \/ \ / \ \/ /\ \ \/ /\ \ \ \/ \ \/ /\ \ /\ \ \ \/ \ \/ /\ \ /\ \ \ \/ /\ \ \/ /\ \ / \ /\ \ \ \ \/ /\ \/ / / \ \/ / \/ / / \ \/\/\ \/\/ /\/\ \/\/\ \ / / /\/ / /\ \ / / /\ \/\/\ \ \ \ \ \/\/\ \/ / / \ \ / /\ / / \ \/ /\ \/ / \ / \ / \/ \/ *Credit for ASCII "Celtic design" - http://everything2.com/title/Celtic+knot If you have any concerns about this profile, or if you're interested in playing as a distant relative of some kind to Angus Cairnfist, etc., PM me.

When his father died, the young dwarf was left with not but Baldir and Tanith Toov to raise him. Baldir Toov, a strong and hard man, raised the dwarf as a fine warrior, training him with hammers and axes. When he had finally grown his beard, the dwarf set out into the world to learn of its secrets. For two years he explored Anthos, visiting places such as Kal'Azgoth, Kaedrin, Malinor, and many others. During his travels, he learned of the mysteries of the arcane, and began to seek out those that would teach him such powerful magic. His journey took him to the dwarven library, where he found the records of his clan's bloodline. Thalgrin, raised to believe most dwarves could not learn magic besides the Ironguts, was surprised to see the strange, mixed bloodline of his father. Irongut and Grandaxe blood alike ran through his veins, which merely boosted his confidence in becoming the magic wielding warrior he would hope to be. When he returned to his home with the Toovs, Baldir (who knew the ways of fire evocation) agreed to mentor the dwarf in his magics. He now continues his studies to this day. Artwork
