  2. AELYRA screamed and screamed. She beat her fists bloody and raw against the ice that made up her prison. It was a futile effort; the chains around her wrists had held her for decades and would hold her for decades more. Solace came in bursts — stale bread and wine, and the dreams of old friends amidst the nightmare.
  3. Its early in the morning, and I'm drinking my coffee, and I'm a nerd who likes to think. So lets talk some key-archery points and perhaps a suggestion to work Aiming Under split second decision making, finding the right aim in the right conditions is probably one of the most important things to consider for archery. Not every terrain is going to lead to the perfect conditions for archery. A windy mountain will never have the advantage of open plains. Stance Bows are hard to use man! Like, if you actually use one, not only does it require you to target all the muscles in your core, shoulders, and arms. But you also need to have a good stance for that man. Wind That fancy little thing that cools people down, actually effects both real world sniping + heavily effected crossbows and bows back in the day. It can just as easily aid a shot, as it can hinder a shot Possible Solutions to this? Solution 1; you have areas on the map that maybe provide bonuses or negatives to archery, plains provide an easier archery experience, while areas clouded by storms such as blizzards provide a more difficult experience. This would allow for Archers to have to take note of the region their in, perhaps even encourage individuals to prep hunts or assassinations by dragging people to regions, because the climate proves better suited for archery. Likewise, future settlement regions might choose to build in either a place that compliments their fighting style, or hinders ranged attacks on their city Solution 2; Emote = Effort. A character could spend an emote, and shoot an arrow hastily, perhaps at the cost of it being random luck. Or a character could spend three emotes, and guarantee that the area they hit(should they hit) be something akin to a moderate injury. Keep in mind what I suggested is the bare minimum of my thinking, so if its a sh*t take, its a sh*t take. But who knows, maybe one could utilize some of the ideas presented for a better constructed rolling/archery system.
  4. At this point, trying to change certain aspects of the CRP system (how plate armor/ranged weapons work) really isn’t feasible because of how many other things they touch on, so eventually you just end up going through a major rework. While changes are needed, it’s basically impossible to isolate these two and fix them, so you’d need a bigger CRP rework that isn’t going to happen.

  8. Mahina Kame'eleihiwa, now a tall, weary figure, sat by a desk, head resting on her hand as her hair flowed down her shoulders. Time has already left its marks on her burdened face. She scanned the missive laid on the desk, flipping through the pages. A peculiar complexion was revealed on her face, not particularly melancholy, but more or less with a hint of nostalgia. She covered her face with both of her palms, as a raspy, quavering voice said, "I will miss you, my first queen and friend. I will always remember you as My Young Queen Catriona."
  9. Mathi Lensul'em stood in the village, gazing up at the city as she read the proclamation. "The stars have blessed us with abright future under Princess Iryne's rule." She murmured, feeling a surge of pride. Turning to her aide, she declared, "Spread the news to every corner of our land. Celia'nor's prosperity is assured with such promising leadership." Ay'Celia'nor! Ay'Illthrak! Mathi Lensul'em Councilor, Parir, Treasurer and head of the Lensul'em talonii

  19. Near the outer pillars of the Cloud Temple, a debonair gentleman lay nestled in the bushes, seeking solace from his drunken headache. His diminutive yet exquisitely charming journal rested nearby, its pages holding just one diary entry. Perhaps, while he is unconscious, you pick it up and read it. 11 Snow’s Madiden, 183 s.a.[1] I write this seated, leaning against the pillar across the aisle from the hookah stand at the mouth of Aevos. The Cloud Temple is quiet today. Though, such has become common now. Today is another day[2] Once again I find myself here. I am drunk. Surrounded by the stillness that has become all too familiar. This is such a sacred place. It was alive. Only the sacred things can live in death. I’m rambling.[3] How can one ramble in his own journal? I miss it. To speak of longing for another seems overly dramatic in my case. I have not known such yearning. A less sorrowful admission might be that I do not falter or quiver at hearing a once warm name cooled by destiny or fate, or perhaps by a fleeting gaze after a brawnier man (among other reasons). Honestly, what I miss the most is something I never experienced. My father’s father re-enacted memorable events and told great stories about commotions around the Cloud Temple of Almaris. It might seem dramatic to feel this way about a Temple. However, if I personify myself as the temple itself (which I do), then I would simply say that I am a soul yearning for love. A love I have not had in a very, very long time. Perhaps it is dramatic to miss the once constant sounds of the Temple. But, if I were to think of myself as the temple itself, personified (I do), then what I could articulate is that I am simply a soul who misses being loved. This could be good evidence for why I have never found anyone. I (the temple) yearn for everyone, everywhere, all at once. That could be a good theatrical performance, if I ever see it. The young monk has learned my routine and will likely be by with a vial to soothe the burning in my belly and mind, mostly from the alcohol, and help me sleep. To none but me. Ech. [1] A misspelling of Maiden is corrected. [2] These words are discernible only to those with excellent vision. They are heavily crossed out, almost with a sense of anger. [3] These words are smudged, likely by a thumb.

  21. [!] Notices were tacked up on the boards of Vikela, Lurin, Vortice, Dunfarthing and Amathine, though surely more had spread across the continent of Aevos. The Vortician Council is looking to put together a team of spelunkers for the next expedition into the depths of Vortice. If you are interested in exploring the underground of Talon's Roost, and the possibility of finding treasure and making ecological discoveries to document and profit off of, please meet in the capital during the month of Malin's Welcome. Gear, including rope, lanterns, and packed medical kits will be provided. It is recommended you bring respirators or masks, heavy padded clothing, and something to defend yourself with, as we are facing the unknown with this descent.
  22. Theo reads over the missive with great surprise. "I wonder - would this have happened if that paper had not been published?" he wonders aloud as he steps back from the pinned note. The young Assemblyman shakes his head as he lets out a deep sigh. "May the royal family move on from this with as much comfort as they can provide for each other." he mumbles as he walks away.
  23. EDICT OF MILITARY EMERGENCY Mandated by the Obsidian Throne As of the 9th of Dungrimm’s Call, it is ordered that the Grand Kingdom of Urguan shall undergo a state of military emergency, to ensure the safety of the Khazadmar in response to the Darkstalker threat. All abled-bodied Dwarves over the age of 18 are summoned to enlist within the Legion as Grunts; report to your nearest officer for information. New recruits will be granted rations, equipment and legion bunks. Yrromar are also encouraged to enlist within the Legion as auxiliaries to help defend the lands of Urguan against threats that imperil them. A curfew is ordered: Dwarves in the workforce or otherwise undergoing private enterprise are advised not to leave the capital without sufficient military escort. It is also advised that every dwarf arms themselves with aurum or blunt force weaponry to defend themselves. The forest Dwarves of Hefrumm are likewise advised to remain in their village until the roads are safe. Legion Patrols will occur regularly to clear the roads of Darkstalkers threatening the safety of the Khazadmar. The gates will likewise be under double guard. NARVOK OZ URGUAN Signed, Thurgrim Silverbraid Grand King of Urguan, Clan Lord of the Silverbraids Narvi, Grand Marshal of the Legion Gallio Grandaxe, Tribune of the Legion

  25. The next morning, upon the locked doors of the derelict Merryweather Marshal's Office, was pressed the flower of a single white rose in the form of a seal. By the door was set a bottle of Walter's Waldenian Whiskey, one of the last remaining from the Knight-Immortal's ill-fated distillery.
  26. unless you're doing some sort of republic or farming hamlet like Acre or maybe old Petra (was knights but still), there's not much incentive for a human player to be a peasant when they can just ask one of the 50 noble families on the map for a spawned in character and inevitably get one more players = more titles and discord roles for your noble house usually. also harder to keep a peasant in your activity grind when they're not bound to the nation like a noble is. probably the biggest reasons why imo, both are shit as well
