RaijenStars 967 Popular Post Share Posted August 8, 2022 A Letter to the Royal Duma; On What is Eating Us from the Inside Published by the Grand Maer, Jakob Vernhart, in 437 E.S. To my nation, to our People, to Their Majesties and to the Royal Duma: I open this letter by stating I do not wish to fight against my nation, but only for it. This letter is one of my ways to fight for my beloved home, because there has been an ailment eating us from inside for far too long. Our people have been splitting; some content and prospering, and others fighting for recognition, yet losing hope they will get any. Some have been growing closer to the crown, while the rest feel left behind. Their Majesties work hard everyday for our nation - and there is a lot of work to do. It is a given that they must have their own councils of capable men and women by their sides; aiding them in making our nation greater everyday. And these councils have become what aspiring people of our nation dream of: a seat beside and under the Crown. No honor could be greater. Yet, a recent appointment has made me decide I must break silence. Duke Mikhail var Ruthern is a very talented man; displaying inspiring capabilities, and a great passion for the military and politics. I could easily see him sitting on the seat of the Lord Marshal, an Ambassador to a nation promising foreign or even the Envoy. However, instead of a hardworking member of the Queen's Council, a man with no previous relation to said Council has been appointed to be the second to the Queen: the Grand Lord. Why? Were the courtiers who worked for years, some even during the reign of Queen Emma, not enough? Why was their hard work neglected? I must admit I know not the reasons behind this appointment and this is what motivated me to write this letter; to discuss and raise questions. From a glance at the Crown's Councils, there is a worrisome picture being drawn. Each seat is occupied by close friends of their Majesties. I do not doubt for a second that each man and woman on these councils are capable, or else I would have broken my silence much sooner. I also do not doubt Duke Mikhail’s talent, as stated previously, but this situation might raise some questions - given all these facts: A man with no previous relations to the Queen’s Council, who is close to Her Majesty, receives a seat on the Aulic Council under an office he had no previous ties to, nor any experience in, following many appointments of people only close to the Crown in one way or another. What are we trying to convey to our people? That if they are not in their Majesties’ close circles then they have no hope of climbing up no matter what they do? This divide in our people has been felt for longer than it should, I merely decided to break my silence now; that the divide does not make sense to me anymore. I have watched my colleagues, my family’s friends, and various other citizens of Haense grow apart from our Kingdom for so long. Some have gotten up and left, and some have simply given up and grew further apart mentally - losing motivation or hope. It brings me to tears. I was born and raised here and am willing to fight to my last drop of blood for this kingdom, thus I cannot watch this from the sidelines any longer. I want for all our people to feel like they have equal opportunity and that the Crown loves them all the same, and I trust the Crown does as well. So I wish for us to talk this through; I want us to break the silence and speak our minds. This is why I put forth a request to the Lord Speaker and the members of His Majesty's Duma to hold a meeting of the Duma of great importance, where we shall open discourse of such a harrowing yet important topic to me. Signed, The Honourable, Jakob Vernhart, Grand Maer of Karosgrad
MissToni 3498 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Erika Vatornik would be sipping her morning tea that her trophy husband would always prepare for her while she was going through the different news and reading them all. Though as she got to this particular one she ended up accidentally spitting out the tea. Looking up to her husband afterwards to show him the paper @Erilobar "This Jakob Vernhart is a brave fellow. Gut for him for speaking up on something he feels is wrong, nicht everyone has the balls to do that when they disagree with something."

tcs_tonsils_ 2833 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Iulius Vernhart nodded before handing the missive back to his son. “Well written. You are going after something you believe to be wrong, that is something truly honorable. Know from this, my son, two roads will emerge. Two different types of people will walk down the roads. And thus, division will be caused.” @Raijen Stars
Mady 3129 Share Posted August 8, 2022 “Wha’ shite is this?” Groaned the ageing woman from her office. Streams of moonlight trickling into the ambassadors office. “The whole point o’ councils is t’ keep those ye trust on her council.” The woman lectured to one of the wards of the Envoy office. “The whining’ o’ peasants are the most annoyin’ o’ them all.” And with a flourish of her hand, Margot Baruch would send the copy of the letter would fall into the bin of the cozy office.
kaylacita 1088 Share Posted August 8, 2022 As the publication made its way to the halls of Drusztra, the wife of the Grand Lord announced, "Ye and Amadea, companions? Ah had thought she made her distaste of ye quite public, considering she's hated ye after the bastards. She had insisted ye had a hand in killing their mother yerself, since she died birthing them!" The woman folded up the parchment, setting it upon the table beside her. "Ah had thought our Grand Maer would at least look into the matter properly before he made wild accusations. Ye were clearly appointed for yer experience."
liz 962 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Zoya vas Ruthern snickered faintly upon reading the missive, having picked it up from the very same table the Duchess had placed it on. "Mikhail, a close confidante of her Majesty!" Remarked the former Grand Maer snidely. "My successor must have the best contacts on the kongzem, for even his family knew niething of this relationship."
beetle 2876 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Esmèe Kortrevich paced around her office, reading the missive with one hand and a cigarette in the other. ".. If anyone's opinion matters here, it should be his. I do niet think a man should be the Grand Lady." The Viscountess sighed, shaking her head in annoyance.
zuziee 3265 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Nikoleta Baruch shook the ash from the end of her cigarette “Ea cannot believe we’d vote someone so incomprehensible into Grand Maer. He does niet research, he is just jealous of her majesty’s position!” Smacking her husbands shoulder as she’d cackle “He was chosen because he aided his sister, the last Grand Lady. If only he had eyes to read the Koenas’s writing.”
PerfectlyPeachy 1358 Share Posted August 8, 2022 “If we can have a woman as the Lord Palatine, we can have a man as our Grand Lady. The gender of the councilman should be irrelevant, we should instead be concerned in regard to their competency, of which I’m sure her Majesty is more than capable of making a fine judgement.” Angelika states, having read the notice as she collects the city taxes. ”Anyone who complains about a man being in that position is an absolute idiot.”

AndrewTech 2828 Share Posted August 8, 2022 There was much that the late Konrad Stafyr wished that he could say from the Seven Skies. However, being deceased, such was an impossibility. From what little his ghostly specter had seen, the Duke of Vidaus seemed to be an honorable and competent man. This phantom of the past, in truth, was not well informed enough to have an opinion. He cared little about the matter. But the issue at the very core of this was something else entirely, which he was glad the Vernhart had raised. He, a mere cobbler's son and distant cousin of a comital lord, had worked his way up to knight, speaker, and then eventually Palatine in the land he so loved on the basis of naught but merit. That was the beauty of Haense, and it was what had made it so beautiful since the days of King Petyr I. No matter who you were, hard work and competency could propel you to the top. Fresh blood and new ideas kept the kingdom going. Were this to be lost, Haense would become nothing more than a shell of its former self. The Haeseni way of life depended upon it. It was what had separated them from so many other peoples. And so, the spirit of Sir Konrad desperately hoped that the meritocracy of the Kongzem would be preserved, and remained happily at rest knowing that he had performed his service and that his old responsibilities had come to an end.
Phersades 1174 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Nikolai Kortrevich looked at his wife, shaking his head softly "Vy would think so, wouldn't vy? Ea would imagine that her majesty would have plenty of young women in her council, who are fresh vith their ideas, have a better reputation, and are more capable of filling the position en bringing something new to Haense.. Godan, the city needs et.." He clicked his tongue as he read over the missive once more "Thes es a prime example of a family on the rise, new families with a better attitude.. Always liked the Vernharts, truly the hardest working.""More so than Mikhail who was born into the position of Herzen out of pure luck.. He asks for more votes on the duma to drown the rest of us out, tried to believe he es the most fit to examine our families as Royal Inquisitor despite being a patriarch himself, and has the reputation of street kill.. between the way he views the other houses like that of Barclay and his general attitude towards his community... What an odd choice of her majesty, truly. Ea would much rather talk to my promiscuous dragon-loving... Mother than support the Ruthern.. But Ea suppose they do both come of the same blood.. Nie surprise there, seems there are quite a few Ruthern's who can't keep et in their pants, perhaps that es why he got picked and has the support... Or maybe this picking es that of other unknown forces.." Nikolai bit his tongue though a smirk still broke through, a pity laugh even.. Dobry job, Maer.." The Lord moved to kiss his wife's forehead, handing her back the missive "Should a response come in, burn it with the spam mail we got when hosting our Orenian Shop.. et's all useless just the same."

AgentofDeath13 456 Share Posted August 8, 2022 A young Kortrevich, once taught by likes of a King and his knights sits within the fields of Acre. The missive handed to him as he tended the fields of the men who sought to teach him humility from honest work. “The divide extends beyond the walls. It can be been seen and felt by even a stranger wandering the lands. Who knows why the leaders make the choices they have, but surely you’d think that they’d see the error of their ways to some extent.” The young lad folds the missive slipping it into his sleeve his mind now muddled with various thoughts, and the naivety that so only comes in youth. With time he drops the thought and picks up his tools once more cutting down grain after grain as he had done for years in honest labor.
