funny how the alt-right's only defense against legitimate journalism is disregarding all journalism
cognitive dissonance :)

it seems really absurd to dislike gender-benders when we have people rping as ghosts and ****

remember friends, hating anyone isn't going to stop any terrorist attacks (stolen from twitter)

@Tsuyose We cannot guarantee it, but we can guarantee some form of RP. those 2 sentences contract each other

You feel really strongly about this apparently. Ait man.
From my personal perspective, my frost witch having a relationship has been an important part of her character development because of her being a frost witch. Witches are basically the same archetypal creature as a vampire or werewolf, they are in a constant struggle between their humanity and their monstrous side. And look at how many vampire and werewolf stories involve romantic plots, and the conflict that comes when a monster tries to love a normal person. The human part of them wants to live a normal life, have normal relationships, and just be a normal woman, while the monstrous side compels them to kill. It makes relationships a struggle. I can't speak for other frost witches, but I've always RP'd that struggle. You, specifically, are just not gonna see that RP cause you're not in on it. Sorry if it offends you so much.

I feel like, of all the stereotypical edgy characters of LotC, frost witches are the only ones that are really heavily based on negative stereotypes of one group of people. Men are a primal beast that just want to **** and they will do that even with random blue creatures. And then if the male rps in any other way, you get that passive aggressive ooc about meta and ****.
I dunno. I guess I just see frost witches as being pretty uninspired villains.

Sorry for the late reply -
I would disagree that the Frosties are the sole characters based on "sexist notions". In fact, there's a much bigger scale of 'sexism' on the server - Oren. Oren in general is or has been extremely "sexist" (although less so nowadays, there's been female saints and knights), although this can be justified by stating that it's mimicking the medieval ages. The only flaw I find in that is that the LOTC world is not analogous to the real one in terms of genders, unless you use the "four brothers" ancient lore to state that women are inferior, etc. Women are just as capable as men in the LOTC world, so it seems strange to have a patriarchal society just pulled out of thin air.
On the other hand, with the Mori, a sexist (in this case Matriarchal) society made sense, since Nemiisae loved the ladies and only bestowed various gifts upon her favorite gender, as far as I can remember.
-
I personally don't have a problem with either Oren or Mori. Characters are are to themselves, and they have to be justified. After all, people that murder for money, baseless religious reasons, and racism all happen on the server. I've seen an Olog try to eat a baby. I've seen a woman drowned for being an elf. A man flayed because he couldn't remember a prayer. Sexism is to be expected, as this isn't tolerance simulator 2015. That said, elder scrolls approach is one of my favorites: Don't worry about gender.

not making a comic about your opposition like a sperg and actually making a detailed essay/argument/post on reddit after thoroughly researching the history of MRA, cross-sourcing, and developing counterarguments based upon more researched evidence (anecdotal evidence can be considered but is nowhere near as prevailing as quantitative)
but that's too hard so the easy way would be to make a webcomic preaching to the choir for months on end, strawmanning, and asking for Patreon donations
not saying they can't do it, but I personally have no taste for political webcomics unless somehow they're genuinely well-fleshed out, but even then fitting an essay into multiple panels would be hard so I understand
also holy **** you have nearly 100,000 profile views wtf man
-
i mean i don't think you can use a webcomic of proof of something, and i've never implied that. i also don't really think that the intention of the web comic was to show a genuine interaction between Cyndi Lauper and an MRA, but rather an argument common to the political movement applied to a comedic situation. Y'know, a ******* joke
And I disagree I don't think the only way to discuss anything political is through intense scholary means, that seems completely out of touch with reality. People like humour and laughing and most aren't laughing at a comic on /r/comics because they want to be persuaded as to why MRAs are ******* retarded.
Idk I feel like you're taking this far too extreme my dude
also yeah i'm popular af dude xdd

@Scene21the issue people have with cs:go gambling sites is the fact that the userbase of those websites are under 18, and in most countries the websites are illegal. And that

can anyone justify eating meat to me honestly think i need to be a vegan my dudes :(

Yes, that's the only way to be a meat eater I think. You have to have some sort of 'humanity' indicator that allows you to make the distinction. You can't have a line that doesn't include any humans while also including animals.
And you'd also have to accept that animals have no rights at all and are possessions and we should be able to do what we want with them, including torturing or killing them.
-
Ya'll eating animals is weird... watch Dominion and see: https://www.dominionmovement.com/

does anyone else feel like the elven supremacist-purist **** is overused as ****? every subrace uses it, and it seems to get kinda old. like, there

and it's not a matter of purity and all that is bad roleplay. it made the high elves cool an unique and they offered a different type of roleplay than any other group (except the kha I guess, but they ended up living with the High Elves a few times). but then the dark elves adopted it and the wood elves adopted it to an extent and it got sorta... not unique, not different, overused, etc.
-
I think its mostly because nationalists are the easiest to rouse roleplay. Playing a pacifist would involve having their values continuously challenged, and other factions will certainly target you for it (IE orcs and tribute demanding).
If you dont have strong nationalism, you need something else that will form a core value to base the culture on. In the books of Divergent, they had 5 distinct cultures (daredevils, intellectuals, hippies, truth speakers, and unconditional kindness), but they lived together in a strange and forced understanding, to which in the end a faction inevitably tried to attempt complete take over.
Having a pacifist culture wouldn't be very sustainable in the world of LOTC, and the high elves are perhaps the most 'peaceful' among st all groups. Still have their own warriors to defend themselves. Can you imagine roleplaying to be a defeated faction over and over again?
There are actually a decent amount of neutral territories, Sutica being a prime example. So no its not all 'death to every outsider'. And keeping in mind the war that Ames have fought with Aherals, there will always be tension present. You cant just turn the Ames into pacifists all of a sudden, especially since they were conquered and subjugated ruthlessly so many times.
There is always more to a culture than strong nationalism, with overlaying themes and what not. Aherals with their stringent rules and careful social etiquette, Ames with their ferverent Aspect worship, Ker with their ancestral and shadowy themes. I dont think you can find a culture in real life that didn't have its share in bloodshed. Everyone was violent and peaceful at points in times. So to say that we are all the same really hurts us who put so much effort into developing them, and its why we do get defensive!
You do present some very interesting suggestions, Space, but I cant see them being feasible unless the culture can sort of pay for its protection. Everyone's gotta live at the end of the day :P
Sorry for the long rant, this status debate was very interesting!
-
Wood elves are the way they are because of a few centuries of aggression from every race pretty much.
We disallow interbreeding because it's logical (why would you let your children **** something that'll die in ten years, and know their KID will ALSO die in 10 years? same principle for elves breeding w/ humans)
We dont let many outsiders into the city to prevent interbreeding for aforementioned reasons
We rigidly enforce the teachings of the gods of nature, the aspects, cause you know, we're wood elves
We put strong emphasis on nationalism and culture cause in our eyes that's what malinor lacked and that's what made it weak
So pls no complain on OOC statuses, everything you see happened that way cause of RP.

I'm actually sorta triggered about this. I don't have a high opinion of drfate, but come the **** on. I've NEVER seen a ban report like that-- You're literally just attacking the dude, bullying him. That's absolutely disgusting. Like 75% of the screenshots have NOTHING to do with you, and you're also digging ******* YEARS in the past to try to get this guy to be banned.
If you're tryna BR people because they think they're better than, please BR me, 'cause I KNOW that I'm better than you- I don't bully the people I dislike.

You're literally doing the same thing lol. Lotc bans aren't anything like trials so idk why you'd compare it to something like that. I agree Sky shouldn't have made a br in the first place, he should just ignore the irrelevant **** that drfate is. His behavior hasn't improved since he joined the server so I don't wonder why people dislike him, but unless Sky got somehow personally offended he shouldn't have made a BR. He should've just ignored Drfate and his **** talk because he should know better than what an infamous troll says. But you shouldn't go on about it either, you're complaining about someone doing something that you're now doing in return.
-
do you think the people who complain about rp fighting are the same people who abuse the **** out it and make it so **** in the first place?

Existing in a communtiy where nobody can have any sort of discussion about anything mildly controversial is genuinely disgusting.

If your response was worded wrong why not clear it up? Don't think thee was any reasonable cause to lock that thread. People were acting pretty civil- Saying 'there are only 2 genders' or making some joke like 'if I had a dollar for every gender I'd have 2 dollars' isn't really 'bad.' It's off-topic and maybe he reasonable people of the world can see it's a stupid thing to say, but that was probably the comment that I could see as MAYBE bad, but hardly that even.
i bigly disagree with you

Hey, I need a female skin made. Got a steam game for whoever makes it. High elf with glasses basically is the criteria. no dresses.

"One day we must ask the question, “Why are there forty million poor people in America?” ... When you ask that question, you begin to question the capitalistic economy.
We are saying that something is wrong ... with capitalism.... There must be better distribution of wealth and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism. Call it what you may, call it democracy, or call it democratic socialism, but there must be a better distribution of wealth within this country for all of God’s children."
