  1. I'm sure we can find space for Norland ;^) In all seriousness I don't support removing Tahn either.
  2. Two of the only active RP hubs on the server are on Ceru and Asul, it would be a bit bizarre to force them to up and move...
  3. Need more rep.

  4. Sky's point is a pretty good example of why this is a horrible idea. It will force staff members to temper their opinions to those that will be agreeable to vocal aspects of the community that will harp on them if they make unpopular decisions or are justly harsh. The playerbase isn't ignored to begin with, and likewise, the vast majority of harassment goes unpunished. If harassment were punished, we'd see a ton more banned players.
  5. This just straight up shouldn't be a thing. It will serve no benefit except to give players who will be angry regardless the tools to target staff members doing things they dislike. A huge -1.
  6. Icarus reads over the notice with a small frown, promptly shaking his head. "If she wishes to close the gates, then she seeks only to regress us. She will not have my vote with such a stance."
  7. One of the best Admins we've had on the server, though you know that. Enjoy your rest, my friend.
  8. [!] Upon returning to Haelun'or, Icarus picks up one of the fliers. He frowns, thinking back to what he'd just been doing. "Oops."
  9. Icarus sighs, pondering when the other candidate publicly announced their candidacy, prior to going off to prepare potential screeching speeches to follow this up.
  10. This post is going to be lazily written. I am sorry in advance. For one, this thread greatly overstates the ability differences between holy magic users and dark magic users. It's not an accurate representation. Secondly, it doesn't really take into account how these magics actually function. 99% of the time, dark vs. holy magic isn't about who can throw more of one at the other and see which dominates the other. It is holy folk casting spells to try and hurt the dark folks, which are more affected by them based on what exactly they are, and dark folks trying to cast spells in return. But most importantly, dark folks tend to beat out holy folks, particularly lately, because these magics do not exist in a vacuum. Yes, holy magic should win in a head to head fight, but that isn't how most combative interactions work. I will copy/paste something I put in LM Chat about this thread. Holy magic folks: >have strict moral code that they are not meant to break >opponents are secretive about their practices >cannot just stab suspected spooks unless absolutely sure >generally required to follow local authorities rules, which often protect spooks >basically perpetually wearing signs that say "come stab me spooks" Dark magic folks: >no moral compass unless self-imposed >opponents open about their practices >can and routinely do surprise stab holy folks and other enemies >not required to follow any laws >hide what they are from the world unless utterly inept or outed by trusted individuals Being a holy magic user has its advantages. It's also super restrictive on what you can do unless you break the rules of you god, in which case you can get slapped the **** out and disconnected. And even if you break the rules of your god, you're still bound to get fucked up.
  11. As he had done many times before, Icarus Adil made his way to the square of Haelun'or, descending from his home in the Cloud District with quill and sheets of paper in hand. In his descent, he saw that it was not as it used to be. On his trek down, passing by what were once various hubs of congregation for high elves, he saw not a soul. Upon reaching the square, a couple high elves spoke idly in the tavern, no others present. Sighing, Icarus went door to door, knocking and asking those within the city to gather in the square with him so he could make an announcement. By the time he was done, there were at least a few gathered; nothing like what there once would have been. Yet he had come to give a speech, and he was not going to refuse because the Silver City had become the Silver Ghost Town. So the high elf stepped forward, barely raising his voice above a normal tone because there was no need for him to do so, beginning his speech as he'd rehearsed. "Fellow mali'thilln, citizens of Haelun'or, I come to you today to speak of stagnancy. I've done this a few times since returning to Haelun'or shortly after we arrived on Axios, yet today I speak not because of the problem of stagnancy itself, but instead because of solutions put forth that have not been set into motion. We have a Silver Council nearly depleted with no figurehead to guide it, and nearly four elven days have passed since Mister Nelgauth Maehr'tehral made a challenge for the empty seat of the Sohaer. Likewise, nearly three elven days ago, Mister Lyu'sul Ni'leya brought forth a challenge for the position of Okarir'mali. By our customs and laws, particularly given the almost absolute vacancy of the Silver Council, it is the Maheral's duty to conduct elections for these two individuals: a referendum for Mister Maehr'tehral, and an election following a debate between Mister Ni'leya and Mister Maehr'indor. Yet perhaps more concerning is the fact that it was allowed to get this far in the first place. The Maheral rightly stopped the ascension of a violent, barbaric elf to the position of Sohaer, yet has done absolutely nothing to resolve the disarray left of the Silver Council. It is her duty and one that she has neglected. One that must be resolved. For the few of us gathered, we must demand action of the Maheral. In spite of our past conflicts, I have the deepest respect for Iaria, as most of her tenure has been spent in dutiful dedication to her role. Yet her absence now cannot be tolerated, no matter her past successes. Thus, we must make an ultimatum to the Maheral. If she does not conduct a referendum for Mister Maehr'tehral, and a debate and election between Misters Ni'leya and Maehr'indor, within the next two elven days, then one must be conducted by the citizenry so we might begin to fill the Silver Council once more. While this is not the regular way of doing things, almost never has a Silver Council existed so lacking in councilors, nor a Maheral so unwilling to perform a critically important duty. Furthermore, if the Maheral does not meet this deadline, one of two things can be concluded. Either she would have forsaken Haelun'or entirely, or some ill has befallen her as did happen to the Maheral before her predecessor, Lyu Elibar'acal. If either is proven true, then we must also find a new Maheral to guide the descendants of Larihei upon our path. Such a figure must have a history of contribution to the high elven state, particularly as of late, a figure familiar to those who have resided here throughout Axios. Though there are a few candidates who have served upon the Silver Council or aided Haelun'or in other ways throughout Axios, and have been pursuant of maehr'sae hiylun'ehya rather than harbingers of stagnancy and decay, it is my belief that one stands above the rest. Thus, it is my proposal that, granted his service as a Medi'ir of Haelun'or, his work in ensuring the continued existence of Haelun'or during the period leading to the fall of Oren, and the countless times he has protected Haelun'or and its citizens, I believe that if Miss Iaria Elervathar is found to remain silent and absent, the citizenry of Haelun'or consider Crumena Synalli as our next Maheral. With that, I will conclude my speech. It was not my intent to offend any present, but merely to ensure that action is taken in the preservation of Haelun'or. I would sooner be divisive than continue to watch our city hang in indecision, and thus I have spoken my piece. Maehr'sae hiylun'ehya." The high elf would speak with the few who had gathered, if they had anything more to say, before slipping a written copy of his speech under the door of each home. They would be posted nowhere else. When he was done, he would head to the library to read. [[Just a small OOC note. This was done intentionally such that only those who own homes in Haelun'or or actively RP in the city (about five people in total) would have any knowledge of this speech. If you do not actively RP in the city, do not own a home in Haelun'or, or do not presently stay in your home in Haelun'or in roleplay, I would kindly ask you refrain from posting or taking knowledge of this into RP. I know this sounds very stick-in-the-mud'ish, but there are specific reasons I want this done in this manner. Thank you!]]
  12. Do you have any examples? I'm pretty sure the LT tries pretty hard to not do this.

  17. I don't get it, but this is a quality meme.
  18. Just as he had done with previous fliers regarding the Ascended, he takes several copies of both the original flier and Aelu's response, posting them throughout Haelun'or in the dead of night to avoid being seen, clear green writing over top of them. "ASCENDED BEGONE!"
  19. So how do we feel about VAs? ;*))

oh dear some people enjoy purely playing a bandit above other things

i can tell what you'd want VAs to combat so instead of creating something that effects everyone, instead just create a solution to keep the exceptions in their place and to behave better
