Swgrclan actually made me put a lot more thought into it just now, and I have definitely come to see what he means much more. It really doesn't make any sense whatsoever. In LoTC, Gods are real. There is no need for faith because there is hard evidence to their existence. This is completely in opposition to what the christian faith is, which is just that, faith. Why would these followers suddenly conjure up something that doesn't exist (they simply believe it to) when there are many real and powerful beings they know do? It doesn't make any sense in the slightest if you were to imagine yourself in that world.

Because, those who play Humans in their roleplay enterprise chose to mock very closely an IRL religion. They have that ability upon registering for Lord of the Craft, to bring in whatever elements they feel. Very few authors in real life get away with highfalutin fantasy and even then, with a very small niche that typically are not grounded in realistic standards to begin with. (I am thinking RA Salvadore). The folks roleplaying humans were either very basic and realistic or just damn clever for picking something that most regular folks would be inclined to replicate through roleplay.

I personally just don't like the use of the name God.

Individual writers have not made many attempts at collecting player opinions on what they want or what they collectively think are "cool" additions, among other things. A system that represents player interests while not holding direct power could be beneficial to literary implementations.

It does represent player interests, a bit. All those pages of replies to the lore, which occasionally sparks some changes in the lore.

But it collects opinion based on the proposed, individual idea. The idea is not a survey to determine the interests of the playerbase and what they *want* to see.

Thats a personal belief. which makes sense. The vibe I'm getting from Swgr is that he wants to make a creed similar to a spiritual or religious creed, based on godlessness. Which doesn't make sense to me.

I don't refer to ignoring the presence of Gods, which makes no sense. I want to know if people in the server would follow up on an anti-diety-based set of doctrines with a conviction similar to Canonist Church followers.

It would be hella cool, and considering the people who want to hunt Aengul-worshippers currently (Cult of Acerbus/Arke'ith, Oren, etc) and the slow takeover of the world by Creator-worshipping Orenian hands, an angti-theistic thing would be neat!

I Agree. I don't mind the obvious connections in culture. Just the name Allah. I feel the same way about 'God' for Oren.

Orenian Canonism being IRL Catholicism isn't a good thing either. Avoiding making RP religions that are identical to currently practiced real world religions should be encouraged.

There's a difference between light ties to real world cultures, and then carbon copies of of said culture/religion in game. It's hard to be original, I get that. But a little creativity goes a long way.
