Evil isn’t bound to dark magics, but all dark magics are inherently evil. Nothing is black and white, but dark magic users have inarguably black intentions. But anyway, a group like the Ascended whose purpose is just anti-“evil” is completely ignorable, because you’ll argue that they’re ethically summoning demons or humanely creating mutated children. This type of purpose/morality is open to abuse, as you can see now with the current Ascended aiding Naztherak. I am personally dead tired of the Ascended being shoehorned in to so many incidents because they’re some kind of powerful protagonist order keepers, separate from the actual roleplay of players and nations. Sentient dragonkin (Dragaar, Azdrazi) are outright smarter and more engaging, as they are integrated with (for the most part) Horens and Humanity – their “group morality” or purpose is simply pro-Human, pro-Horen. -

@Hiebe Edited my latest reply to you as to touch on an important point. You say that there will be no Belvitz “fiasco” or crossroad towns as assurance that my concerns are unfounded, but those are positive things! The point of designing roads based on natural growth and implementing racial spawns (or something close to them) is so that nation capitals become the places with natural positioning, instead of lucky freebuilds.

Belvitz only happened cause old world devs on the team claimed the best and closest spot to spawn thay took advantage of player movement to capitalize on getting new players before others. That's why we are going to having no nations in front of each other and preventing any free build spots from siphoning players. Giving each nation the fairest access to players we can.

@pbuh Perhaps but maybe with my help we can take it somewhere, I spent a week building the new CT and I’m willing to blow the thing up if it means people will actually be able to find RP more readily – I’d make the thread myself but you have a better grasp of what has been happening on the server the past few maps.

@pbuh I am in support of your ideas. Having there be racial spawns instead of CT spawns gets rid of most CT roleplaying and puts that extra roleplay right into whatever settlements need it. Also, it would get rid of any favoritism due to the CT placement/layout and help new players find communities for them. On top of this, by ensuring that people actually reach and roleplay in the major settlements of their race, it could help communities bounce back into relevancy if they try hard enough to attract players.

that’s actually pretty funny that Zar’kiel are just a horribly amped up version of superior form Azdrazi (which LT moaned was too OP so it got removed)

This is personal curiosity fueled by the grief we received about finding a “purpose” for Azdrazi: what is the point of Ascended at this time? They served their purpose and were meant to be shelved when Aegis ended, but were maintained due to an inability of the players to let go. After all these years, could the maturity be mustered to finally put Ascended to rest? I’m just wondering.
