I find it SUPER simple to lie, and have always gotten away with it irl. IG when I even give the slightest hint that my char might be lying, everyone metas, so no.

Some characters are good liars, some aren't, and some will be better about lying about some things than others. A guide could be handy, but often people will come up with their own tells for their character.
