Of course reputation matters.

Whilst it should be only particularly the reason, when you're working for the community, the community needs to like you. You're the face of the server, essentially.

I'm not saying that reputation doesn't matter, I'm just saying that it's taken into matter way more than it should be. I.E - 4 people -1 your application because of past bad experiences. However, 2 people explain how they've had nothing but good vibes from you. If it's not all entirely bad, and there are a few good replies, then it should definitely be taken into consideration that the staff lead/manager's opinion be taken as more of a granduity than the few players that don't like said person. You get what I mean?

Ok yeah I agree it's getting rather annoying with the whole player vs. staff ordeal and of my four months of being on LotC it doesn't seem to end. I agree that it needs to stop but since I'm misinformed I don't know much beyond that.

yea am I the only one who doesn't care if NLs are on staff?? staff already aren't allowed to handle situations relevant to their playerbase anyway. maybe when they're mod managers or admins it makes the most sense but a guy can be an NL and mod at the same time and usually it won't hurt anything

I think it's a very valid concern. It's less about the individuals themselves but the principle it sets if staff are allowed to be NLs. I'm not sure if this restriction is meant to be placed on all staff members or if it's team-specific (I know Moderation does not allow it), but exceptions have been seen in the past if it is meant to be staff-wide. Historically, we have seen staff in NL positions and even general leadership positions that use their pex and influence to benefit their communities. It is generally preferred that staff do not handle situations pertaining to their playerbases, but we would all be ignorant if we didn't acknowledge that staff will do this anyway whether it's because there's nobody else available at the time or because they are more skilled in the topic matter to be able to handle it, etc.

Nevertheless, restricting staff from major leadership positions is an important countermeasure to staff abusing their positions which is something that LOTC and other servers have incidences of that show that these countermeasures are needed. Look to servers like F&F which is a roleplay server that continues to be rife with staff abuse pertaining to nations that even extends as far as administration, and you'll see how important these restrictions are.

I don't think Mady would abuse their position, but I think that it's important to uphold these principles because when exceptions are made it becomes easier for bad actors to justify to others why they should be allowed to lead.

Soviet, My man, you commented at your leisure, on my post, knowing that you'd get a bad response. Another thing, IG banned is COMPLETELY different than forum banned. If I were forum banned, I wouldn't be able to post anything on the forums from my IP, Therefore leading myself into crippling depression. Yes, I'm banned for FM related matters, but I see not how that matters obtaining to your side, considering that you're not an FM. This update was released originially as a little notice for FM's, if one of them had hidden said post. Would I have argued the fact if one of them would've posted that quote? No, because they're apart of the team that I was targeting in this post, and because arguing with staff isn't quite smart unless you're actually trying to get yourself banned.

LadyRebecca, I'll keep it civil, if the other party does as-well. And, even if he/she isn't so civil, I'm not going to fight that either because I don't want to get forum banned.

Out of curiosity, I'm a he. Also, banned in-game is completely different from forums, yea. I know. I've been banned before. That doesn't mean that you have a solid argument here, bud. You're saying that a team of Forum Moderators need to consult you before they hide one of your posts. That isn't how it works, and it isn't how it is going to work. Arguing with staff will not get you banned EVER. I've argued many times with staff and I never got banned and/or warned for it.
