The Month of April
Hello everyone!
Back again for another monthly update. April was a pretty good month full of a lot of new projects and systems being introduced to the community. From fun Easter events to war rules and your views. As we go into May you all should expect another community meeting to be held soon. A post will go up sometime next week. In addition, it has come time again for another creative cafe. This month the community team will be officially taking up the event and hosting it. So look out for another post regarding the details for that as well. I apologize for getting this out to you all late but finals held me up. Thank you for understanding and enjoy!
War Rules
This month the long awaited war rules have been released. If you haven’t done so already check them out and read over them thoroughly so you know the system will work this map!
Alt Whitelisting
As many of you may have noticed, just about all registered alternative accounts have been unwhitelisted from the server due to our new system for whitelisting alts. Our goal is to have everyone forum integrated so it is easier to find people across all of our platforms. If you have forum integrated please take the time to do so for it only takes a minute and makes things easier in many ways going forward. This also means that the community team will no longer be looking at or accepting alt whitelist applications. If you have lost the minecraft account you applied on and your alt was unwhitelisted, don’t be afraid to reach out to a community team member for assistance.
Flam’s Last Stand
This is an announcement and update to what is currently going on with a lot of the current lore right now and what is going to be occurring moving forward. This includes things like magics, creatures, and rewrites. Check out the post for more information!
This month the community team revamped the Tailor’s Guild which is a group of skinners on the server whose purpose primarily is to provide appropriate skins for new players and also for older member of the community. We encourage those with the talent to join and help out the community while also earning some mina while you’re at it. Read the post for more information!
Staff Team Updates
The freshest scoop from the Admins themselves—learn all you can about your favorite teams.
Development Staff
The Development Staff has been busy working on our optimization issues and other bug fixed that have popped during our transition. Earlier this month Sporadic put out a post on some important information for everyone to check out!
I Fought The Lag and The Lag Won
Moderation Staff
As always, the Moderation Staff are in need of new volunteers. If you feel you’re up to the task, head on over to the Staff application section of the forums to apply! Coup rules were posted for the community’s review, and we saw Riftblade step down from a long and faithful tenure as Moderation Manager. His position was thereafter taken by, |ZipZapMan|, one of a group of qualified candidates who put themselves forward for the position.
Community Staff
For starters, we saw another month filled to the brim with applications. All-in-all we received a whopping four hundred and forty two new applications, of which only six were alternate account applications prior to the new self-whitelisting system for alts. In addition, we put together a nice little Easter Event for the community. We hope you enjoyed it and we plan on putting things like that together more often. After an extremely long tenure on staff, having served previously as AT-Lead, we are sorry to see Ivory go. However MamaBearJade has stepped up to take her place, another hardworking individual to help better our community.
Community Team Update Log - April
Story Staff
This month the Story Staff sees two new managers. ScreamingDingo has been promoted to event manager and MamaBearJade has been promoted to general manager. As the team continues to get set up and into their roles, there is a lot of projects they have in the works. One of them announced this month is the Lore Games mentioned above so don’t forget to give that a good read. And lastly, Flambo is /still/ doing vaults. Someone pray for this man. If you haven’t already, check out the Your View up on Magics and Combat and leave your feedback!
Trendy Feedback
Our crack team of gobos compiles, analyses, and critiques our feedback forums for the top-echelon of community suggestions. We’ve picked out some of the most unique, noteworthy, and civil articles from this month.
On Rules and Community
After the aftermath of Adria being burnt down earlier on in April, there were a few posts made by the community with concerns about the rules regarding PROs and ROs. This post in particular goes over the events the occurred and discusses where we collectively as a community can improve and learn but also where staff should work to improve the rules.
Written by: @VindicantOn /evict
This post brings up the topic of the /evict command that was introduced during this month (April) highlighting some of the issues that the use of the command can cause. Due to this post it allowed us to reevaluate the command and the rules around its use to better suit the communities needs. See rule 4.5 for clarification on how the command is used!

Community Spotlight
Bright, committed, and talented people fill our community. With the community spotlight, we highlight one individual that stands out this month. This player engages the laid-back attitude, charitable spirit, and proactive nature hailed in our community guidelines. For this reason, we congratulate them for their hard-earned achievements!
Slic3man
This month we put the spotlight on an old time member of the community, Slice3man. Being apart of the community for such a long time gives you a wider perspective on many aspects regarding the community. In addition, we chose him for this months newsletter because we have noticed how he has been giving new members of the community a helping hand in and outside of roleplay.
Interview
Hello Slic3man, the Administration overhears much about your attitude and accomplishments. We would like to highlight you in this month’s community spotlight!
What aspects of Human roleplay do you think are the most appealing or enjoyable?
Slic3man: I've found one of the best aspects of Human roleplay is that there's a consistent influx of newer players. With that in mind, it's awesome to see them develop into their own niche and find something they enjoy the most, even if they move onto different venues. It's refreshing to see new outlooks and variety in the roleplay, along with the assistance older and newer players alike are willing to lend toward people who're just arriving.
What would you recommend to a new player who is struggling to find a purpose for their character?
Slic3man: My best recommendation would be something from my experience when I first started, get involved in multiple spheres, learn what catches your attention the most. There's a group for just about everything on LotC, and sometimes purpose comes from experience in an environment that you feel you'll enjoy the most. Having a variety provides some guidance, just be sure to lend a decent amount of time to each so you get a good taste of what that atmosphere can provide.
What is one of your favorite memories on this server?
It's hard to narrow a single memory down with how many people I've had the opportunity to interact with since 2011. Many of them have had substantially positive impacts on my life, whether it's how I go about treating others or just the simple hand helping me hone my writing ability. If I were to choose one, it'd likely be when I first joined the server.
Initially I played an Orc in Aegis, and I was excited beyond belief to get involved with the server. Stepping into Krugmar for the first time and beginning my interaction with the players there made me feel welcome, and would keep me down that path for what has evidently been quite some time. Shoutout to Bog, Blawharag, craotor, Mogroka, Swgrclan and a few others I had the chance to learn the ropes from back in Aegis; it was great fun and I hope to do the same for many of the newcomers joining up with the server for the first time.
Outstanding Volunteer Award
We present this accolade to an exceptional staff member. We are honored and humbled that they choose our team and our server. And this month the award goes to...
MamaBearJade
This months award goes to a very well deserving member of staff, @MamaBearJade. Jade is a Manager for both the Community and Story Staff Teams. She performs exceptionally on both teams and continuously goes above and beyond in the work she puts forth. She is extremely innovative in her ideas and tends to be the one to always put herself out there and volunteer to take up large projects. She has been an amazing member of staff and deserves the recognition by far. We believe her to be a very good role model and we are grateful for the time and effort she puts into the community!
Top VIP
The truth is that without the funds to cover our monthly costs we cannot support this wonderful experience. I think I speak for all of us when I say, thank you to our wonderful contributors. To the greatest VIP contributor this month we bid our humble gratitude and a spotlight in our newsletter.
MintyKnight@Mintyknight is our Top VIP of the month of April! Your contribution to the server is what helps keep our services up and running for everyone to enjoy. We thank you so much!
Roleplay Spotlight
When we think roleplay often we look to our fantastic Minecraft experience. Nonetheless! We are proud of you, our authors, who produce innumerable works—none the lesser, many are amusing, stimulating, and impactful. We’ve chosen one among the many creative posts this month.
Rejoice, Silver Blooded
This article’s purpose serves as a more coherent guide to the culture and beliefs of the High elves of Haelun’or. Within the well descriptive piece of writing, we learn also the reasonings behind the high elven forms of purity.

The Day Alderyn Burned
Tensions have recently been arrising throughout our once harmonious lands of Arcas, elven divisions rivaling one another. The infamous former rulers of Gladewynn, the family of Ithelanens’ decide to bring their former elven Kingdom of Alderyn to flames. Purging the unused lands, in order to cleanse the soils.

A Selective Summary of Dwarvern History
This post describes the detailed culture and aspects of dwarven history, it is both coherent and informative. It mentions the creator Urguan, the clan of Silverbeard and how the current thriving populace came to be. A good read to look into if you are still a little unsure of dwarven heritage, culture and faith.

The Defence of San’Strohk
Conflict across Arcas continues, this well written post highlights the occurrences between the Uruk of Krugman and the humans of the caliphate. Where both opposition and defence, fought valiantly. The Uruk of Krugmar reigning victorious within the defence of their homeland.
Written by @TheNanMan2000
Conclusion
This month there was quite a bit of creative roleplay posts to choose from and a good amount of feedback from the community which is always nice. We always encourage those to reach out and get creative with your roleplay, writing, art, or whatever it is you love to do. I have been thinking about adding a Art Spotlight section to the newsletters to feature all of those talented artists that we have on the server. If you would like to see something like that let me know in the comments. I would also like to give a huge thank you to @Torky and @Lukariatiasfor helping me with this month's newsletter last minute due to me getting rather busy with final season. Good luck to all those who are in their last month of school or are going through their finals right now. I hope you are all ready for a fun and exciting summer. See ya next month and I will be on time (hopefully)!
Have fun, take care, and thank you all,
LotC Administration

COMMUNITY TEAM MONTHLY UPDATE LOG- APRIL 2019
Introduction
Hello Again Everyone!
You know what time it is- we are back for yet again another monthly update!
April has been a busy month, loaded with lots of new project work from the team. Overall, we’ve focused heavily on getting new content and events out to the community, and from what we’ve done so far, it’s been pretty successful. From application reworks to easter egg hunts- we’ve had a busy busy month. In this update I’ll go into some of this months app statistics, our team stats, as well as some info about ct projects that have been going on.
This will be the last month @Ivoryyy_ will be doing the community team update alongside myself. She has stepped down from the team due to irl reasonings. I would like to thank her for all of the amazing work she has done from the team. She was always optimistic, supportive, and hardworking from the beginning when the team was first thought up and into the current state that it is. We will miss her and we hope to have her back some time in the future! With that being said, her position will now be filled by @MamaBearJade. Jade has been another extremely hardworking member of the team and consistently goes above and beyond. We congratulate her and wish her the best of luck!
If you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know what the community team is, you can read more info about the Community Team’s policies [Here]Community Team Roster
Monthly Application DataHello, Ivory here!
This month we saw 442 new applications to LOTC. 436 New Player apps, and 6 alternate accounts.
This is a slight decrease from last month (10 apps), though still a huge increase from the earlier months of this year. From here onward, we can expect to see a steady, if not increasing amount- with summer getting closer.
Our overall acceptance rate was 71.5%, including both pending-accepted and accepted. This is slightly lower than last month (by about 4%), but can be expected with such a stark increase in the amount of apps handled.
Spoiler62.9% of accepted players were from an American timezone (About a 5% decrease from last month) 23.8% were European (5.1% increase from last month) And finally, 3.3% were Oceanic, an increase of about 1%
SpoilerNow, onto some finer details about our applications this month
As per usual, the largest applied race was humans, topping over 56% of all apps (An increase of around 8% from last month). Elves followed behind with 32.2% (Decrease by about 4%). Dwarves came next with 6.9% (Decrease of around 2.5%) 1.8% orcs (Increase of 0.2%) and 0.9% Halflings (A decrease of about 3%)
SpoilerMonthly Team Data
This month has been almost entirely focused on project & application work. We haven’t taken on any new members until the tail end for next month, and have instead been working to further expand on our training procedures with our trainers - Jenny, Torky, Zach & Jade. We’ve also now split into some core focus groups into the future, and this will hopefully aid in completing our projects much faster going forward. Aquaquean is absolutely amazingly insane and has taken on a massive brunt of the applications and took on the alt application guide project, and well and truly deserves some thanks for that.
Please keep in mind that some members may have not made quota due to hiatus’, being added to the team later in the month, or are a lovely Community Content Creator and therefore not required to. (Jenny_Bobbs, Bluee, z3mos, TheIchorDruid & Reko)
I’d also like to welcome our newest team members- @LotsOfMuffins, @puffyduck & @Lirinya !
SpoilerThis Month we have a Quota Queen!
I’d like to congratulate @Aquaquean for making Queen of Quota for April!
Followed somewhat closely behind by Soul, Chaos & Marb
Aqua here has been a huge help to the team for the last few months- she’s really taken on the load of applications whilst we focused in on projects, training & interviews!

Projects of April:
Application Rework: One of our biggest projects this month was drafting up a new application system and it will continued to be continued into May as we put final touches on the project. The current one displays many issues of being too easy, and so as a team we addressed this and met together to come up with an improved system. It’s a delicate balance to make the apps not too easy, but also not too hard as to deter new players from joining. We put this up to a {Your View} thread, and from what we’ve seen- the responses have overall been fairly positive. This new system aims to have new players flesh out a much more detailed character, and also expands on the knowledge required for Metagaming and Powergaming. The Your View is now closed and we will be looking through feedback. If you wish to see where we are headed with this project click the link below.

Tailors Guild: This month we’ve done a lot on the tailor’s guild. Tonnes of behind-the-scenes work has been going on, and we have launched. If you’re interested in helping out by creating skins for new players, please let us know and we can add you. This project also incorporates a newly updated skin archive, with loads of free to use skins for new
players to apply with.

Skin Archive:https://sites.google.com/view/skinarchive/home
Alt Application Guide: As many have noticed, alt. accounts have been unwhitelisted due to the new forum account integration system. The community team will no longer be accepting Alt Applications over the forums. Aquaquean took the time out of her day to write up a guide to make whitelisting your alt account and integrating your forum account If you wish to have your alt whitelisted, please follow this guide to due so!
https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/181142-alt-whitelisting-guide/
Easter Egg Hunt!: So this one was a fun little event that I (Ivory) spontaneously decided on doing- and I hope you all enjoyed it! The CT certainly had fun hiding eggs, and I know that I had a blast trying endlessly to find words that rhyme with one another for those damn riddles. Congrats to the winners ? https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/181066-arcas-easter-egg-hunt/What’s Next: For the month of may our goals are to get the Pots and Pandits project completely fleshed out and have the focus group trained to start performing those events. The team also has a focus group that is tasked with planning community events which include things such as the Creative Cafe, Game Night, Holiday Events and more. Look out for that as we plan to kick of some of those events in the upcoming month. Lastly, our content creators will be working out getting the twitter and youtube more active!
A goodbye!
Okay not going to take very long here but it’s Ivory, and I’ve decided to step down from the Community Team. It’s been almost a year across AT/Manager/Director/ CT Manager - and I’ve absolutely loved working with such a great group of people, and doing a lot of applications. A massive thank you and best of luck to the team in the future, they’re under some amazing directorship/management and have a load of projects that’ll work brilliantly for the community.
O7
Special Thank You!
MamaBearJade for her continuous hard work keeping everything organized and leading projects!Aquaquean for pulling a lot of weight this month taking many apps and taking initiative in projects!
Thank you and see you next month!

The tailor’s guild is great, but I also think that it’d be even cooler (if not avaiable already) for new players to view and pick their skins through a link that looks like this when they’re applying so they’re aware of its existance. Maybe a LotC planet minecraft account serving as a database would be really nice so it becomes much easier to locate in the future. While looking on these skins, players could also get inspiration, and they’re allowed to take and modify any pieces of the skin to be used by their characters.

The Tailor’s Guild
Hello everyone!
The Community Team is pleased to announce the reopening and revamp of the Tailor’s Guild. The Tailor’s Guild is an organization created to help new players have proper skins for the server when they join. Often times, newer players join our server with poor skins and only a few new players are willing to find skins that are up to standards on LotC. In response to that problem, the Guild is responsible for skinning/finding skinners to create skins to add to our archive. The Skin Archive is where new players search for the skins they are going to use on the server.
Our task is not only to gather skins to put into a skin archive, but also make lore friendly skins for new players, make event friendly skins, and to create a place where new and old players can receive skins. We could use your help! We are looking for skin donations, and skin creators to help us get a variety of skins for the archive. So if you are a skinner, or you have old skins that you don't use anymore, please lend us a hand!
You can donate your skins using out Skin Archive Donation Form. Please make sure your skin is appropriate and labeled correctly in the forms. Soon you will be able to request a lore friendly skin for events or yourself. New players will get top priority over old.
Note: Tailor’s Guild is not currently taking commissions until further notice.
Joining the Tailor’s Guild will not only help make a name for yourself as a skinner but also give you a chance to earn some extra mina on the side. As such, we have brought back the paying system for working with the Tailor’s Guild.
The System
Every skin that is made within the guild, shall be posted within our database through the form, as well as published on PlanetMinecraft. In order to receive payment for your work, you must upload the skin to our database and publish it on PlanetMinecraft with the tag [LotC]. Not only does this help in searching for skins, but also serve as publicity for the server. With more publicity means more applicants to grow our community. We appreciate the effort put into making our community grow and thrive.
Payments
Racial Base Skins - These skins will go into the archive for new players to use. Non-shaded Racial Base Skins are 350 minas. Shaded skins will be 700.
Outfit Skins - These skins will also go into the archive. They allow new players to gain outfits for their characters to use. Non-shaded Outfit Skins are 300 minas. Shaded skins will be 600.
Event Skins - These skins are made for the staff to help create events for the players on the server. These can range from creature to hobo. Non-shaded Event Skins are 450 minas. Shaded skins are 900 minas.
Commission Skins - We will no longer be offering payment to side commissions outside of the guild. The guild will give you publicity. We will post personal commission prices for each of our members to help you as well.
The Skin Archive and Base Skins
The Skin Archive has been created to help new players find lore friendly skins for their characters. Every base skin created will be posted under the correct race and sub-race in the archive. We will have tabs for Dwarves, Elves, Halflings, Humans, and Orcs as they are open for new applicants to apply as. These skins are starter skins and are open for public use to our new players.

LotC Application Reform Suggestion
Hello everyone,
For quite some time the topic of reworking the whitelist application has been debated. Many amongst the community feel as though the application is too easy and has been a proponent in the degradation of roleplay quality. Others, on the other hand, argue that if the application is too long or complicated then it will deter players from applying to the server. We have attempted to strike a balance between the two with our suggested reform below. The Community Team would greatly appreciate your feedback on the subject of an application reform and the proposed suggestion. Thank you!Everything highlighted in green is what we wish to add to the application and/or have changed wordings on.

--- Scenario Questions ---
Imagine you’re roleplaying the character you’ve just created. Read the following two scenarios, and respond to them depending on how your character might react. Your response should be one emote, including a line or two of speech, and a line or two of action.
The following is an example answer we’ve created for your consideration:
Example Scenario Question & Answer:
You are walking down the steps of your small abode after hearing the sound of shattering glass in the middle of the night. As you round the corner of the wall at the base of the stairwell, you come face to face with a masked thief, shocked at almost having run into you.
How do you respond?
“Out, out, get out of my house!” Charles barked, with a flustered and angered look. He jutted his arm out, with finger extended, to point at the rear door of his house.
Now respond to the following two scenarios as your character would:
Roleplay Scenario 1:
You are walking down a path through the wilderness, traveling between your hometown and a local coastal city that is hosting a festival you plan to attend. Just as you pass the halfway point, with no civilization in sight, three strangers walk out of the thicket and block your path. They appear armed, carrying daggers and axes, and appear armoured, wearing gambeson and leather, respectively. The man in the center approaches you and says: “Turn over your pockets, it’s your coin or your life!”
How do you respond?
Roleplay Scenario 2:
As you step out the door of your home in the morning, you are greeted with the sudden sensation of immense noise and an amalgamation of pleasing scents. As your eyes adjust to the sun, you realize that a traveling band of merchants has arrived, selling all sorts of exotic wears, and has attracted a huge group of people surveying their items and making purchases.
How do you respond?
If you’re having trouble with these scenario questions, feel free to contact a Community Team Member in-game, on the forums, or over discord.
Thank you to @Lukariatias for managing this project!

Alt Account Whitelisting Guide
Written by the Community Team
Welcome! This guide will cover the steps to whitelisting a new alt account or integrating an old one so that you can start playing as soon as possible.
Updated as of early 2019
If you’re having trouble or ever need any help, please reach out to a Community Team Member!
Introduction
Due to a recent update, alt accounts can be whitelisted automatically without requiring a member of the Community Team to review and implement them. This means that you can now have your alt account whitelisted right away!
Note that from now on every alt account, whether it’s new or old, is required to be registered using this new method.
Integrating Your Forum Account
Before you can whitelist an alt account you need to integrate your Minecraft and forum accounts if you haven’t already done so. To integrate your accounts:
-
Firstly, run the following command on your main Minecraft account that is whitelisted:
- /freja forum <forum name>
You should receive a message from yourself on the forums titled Your Mincraft Account Verification Code like the one below. Because the message is sent from your own account, you will not receive a notification that it has been sent, but you can still find it under your PMs.
-
Once you’ve received the authentication code you can run this command in-game to confirm the account integration. Use the code that was sent to you over the forums.
- /freja confirm <verification code>
A message similar to this should pop up in game if the verification has worked successfully.
- Congratulations! You’ve successfully integrated your account. If you encounter any issues or need help, please contact a Community Team member.
Whitelisting New Alt Accounts
Whitelisting a new alt account is simple and takes hardly any time at all.
Before you begin you’ll have to integrate your main account if you haven’t already done so. See the section above for instructions on how to do that.
-
Now that you’ve integrated your main account, you can log into the alt account you wish to have whitelisted as a wandering soul and run the following command:
- /whitelistalt <forum name>
This will bring up a message like the one below.
-
From here, you simply need to find the verification code sent to you in your PMs. As before, you will not receive a notification on the forums that you have received a message but you should find it under your recent messages. Issue the following command in-game as it directs you to in the message.
- /freja confirm <verification code>

[!] The word would spread of seven special eggs hidden across this very land. The Cloud Temple Monks recite these rhymes, giving hints to where the eggs may lie.
Across the lands, seven eggs lay,
Bound in easter- dare I say.
The first will be where monks reside,
Pink and red, side by side.
The second by the home of men,
Where flowers line the hilltop zen.
In sandy bays, the third will lie
By Sutican shores, a boat made dry
A fourth will sit within Dwarves’ sight,
Over yonder, the trees alightAbove the flames the fifth egg lay
Nature burns and wastes away
The sixth far off, it takes a row
A boiling pot within the snow
The seventh, so gold- on route to green
Left in ruin, stone be seen
So go, young soul- seek place anew
For mina waits the lucky few!

The Month of March
Hello everyone!
The month of March has been full of excitement, creativity, and hard work. We have officially been on Arcas for an entire month and it is always nice to see a lot of creativity bursting throughout the community with all of the art, well-written roleplay posts, and guides. Speaking of art, as you may have noticed the banner for these newsletters has been updated by one of our lovely community staff content creators, rwk0! She is very talented and there is more to come from her. Staff this month has also been working hard on various projects and are continuing to work hard into the month of April. I hope had a lovely April Fools Day and I wish you a great time as we roll into the holidays later on this month. Now let's get into it!
Notable News

This post here announces that the map on the forums has been updated for Arcas. This time around it includes nation locations. The map is still in a work in progress so please be patient with us during the process of getting it completely together!
The Real Final Vault Information Thread
We’ve been receiving tons of questions about the state of vaults throughout our first month here on Arcas. So fret no more! This post has everything you need to know about getting hold of your vault items. We experienced some technical difficulties with people’s vault items being wiped from their enderchest. Therefore a new solution has been worked out. Please read this thread if you have not received your items yet!

Moderation Team
The Moderation Team has worked hard this month on getting war rules together which are currently under review. Throughout the month the team puts out updates on what is going on which are very important because often they highlight changes to the rules. Later on this week the team will be posting their monthly update log that will give much more insight and information on the happenings of the team for the month of March. That will be inserted once the post is up but now please check out the other updates they have put up:

Community Team
This month the Community Team has been busy working and putting together systems for many new projects coming up. Some of the projects would include Monks, Pots and Pandits, and Player Intervention. As these systems have been tested out and performed by members of the team over the month, we can now go back in and work on what needs to be improved. For the upcoming month, the team will be focused more in-house work doing updates to our training processes as we implement these new systems and getting the team trained up to standard. However, it will not be the only thing the team will be doing. The team plans to host a small easter event this month so keep your eyes peeled for content related to that. Lastly, a small reminder that the team is fairly new and has doubled the size since it was first introduced. This means we have many new faces and with so many new things being introduced we have to get everyone accustomed to their new duties!
More information and statistics regarding the Community Team can be found here:
Community Team Update Log - MarchStory Team
The Story Team has officially launched, detailed in the thread found here. In it, they have linked a number of other announcements that link with their launching, including links to the new lore rules. These are part of our server’s ruleset, so please make sure to read them.
Trendy Feedback
Our crack team of gobos compiles, analyses, and critiques our feedback forums for the top-echelon of community suggestions. We’ve picked out some of the most unique, noteworthy, and civil articles from this month.
New Headshop Items
This post spoke about the lack of new head items. I have added a bunch of heads in mainly the food, decoration, kitchen, and gem areas. @lucasking321 has made some very nice animal heads that have been added to the headshop. Check them out with the /headshop command in-game under animals! If you have any heads that are roleplay appropriate that you’d like to be added to the headshop, send TarreBear a forum PM.

SpoilerInterview
Hello AlligatorBait, the Administration overhears much about your attitude and accomplishments. We would like to highlight you in this month’s community spotlight!
Tell us about yourself and what made you join LotC
AlligatorBait: I joined back in Asulon, played consistently until Athera, and then have been off and on the server until now that I got dragged back into it. A friend of mine was the one who found LotC and we both applied for it together. I can't really remember any of the specifics, since this was way too long ago, but it was around the time that A Song of Ice and Fire was getting more popular and the idea of being apart of a bigger story of political intrigue in a medieval setting was what drew me into playing a human from the start. I played a blacksmith living a modest life for a while until Elysium, and that's when I got mixed up with the Stafyrs. Being surrounded by more experienced roleplayers and thrown introduced into the wider world of human RP was what really got me into the server for good and that's where I've been ever since.
Your map of Arcas was nicely done! We want to hear more about the creative process and how you got into making maps as such
Thank you. The process is kinda dry, but I'll go over it. This one was made all in Photoshop, but I've done others in actual map making software like Campaign Cartographer and Wonderdraft. I started with a stock photo of a parchment I find online and trace the outline of the map onto it using the first screenshots that were posted on the forum (this was started before the dynmap was updated). Then I'd color in the land and the sea, overlaying it on top of the parchment so that it still has the texture of the paper. Next came the actual content of the map -- trees, mountains, cities, etc -- which were custom blank brushes that I picked up from somewhere online ages ago. The most tedious part came next, which was coloring in every little part of it, similarly to the way I did the land and sea to make it retain the texture of the parchment. From there I just had to make all the labels and it was done, save running it by some other people to see what they thought of the font I used and such.
Fortunately, there wasn't very much present in the map besides the capitals when I made it and I could tell, for the most part, what was what by looking at the screenshots posted on the forums. For what I couldn't, I'd have to scout around in game during off hours.
I first got into it during Athera when I was taking a web design/photoshop class in high school. There was a map making contest put on and I decided to use what I'd been learning to make a submission. I won second place (though I still disagree with that ruling), and from there, it's become a bit of a hobby to make one for new maps and refine my skills each time.
What are your thoughts on Arcas and where do you think we could improve?
Arcas itself is really nice looking and definitely an improvement over Atlas, in part because each section of the map has something interesting about it, which was something I can't say I felt about the previous map. In my opinion, it would've been better had the CT been placed in the direct center of the map and freebuild not have been included so that the nations on the eastern side would have more space, especially considering that the whole snow island to the NE has been off-limits for story team stuff (so I've heard). I'd also relax the requirements of the charter system to allow for smaller and more niche groups to establish themselves as I believe that restricting what players can do to affect not only their own characters' story but the overall story of the server is more detrimental to maintaining a dynamic and engaging RP environment than if groups were allowed to splinter off and utilize the whole map.
Outstanding Volunteer Award
We present this accolade to an exceptional staff member. We are honored and humbled that they choose our team and our server. And this month the award goes to...

Formatting Forum Posts
This is another very wonderful post by @Toffee . A couple of months back they made a wonderful guide on how to roleplay a medical patient. A now they have a made another great guide, this time it on how to Format Forums Posts. This is a great resource for new and older players alike can use. Formatting can be a bit of a struggle, especially for those who are new to making forum posts or are generally new to the server. Check this out for good tips!
Arcas Resource Pit Map
This neat post was created by @Omar Grimmer'Lak They created a map guide of the resource pits in at cloud temple. This is a very nice resource to use to find your way around. Thank you Omar, for your contribution and work. I suggest everyone check it out!
Guide to Fair Combat Roleplay
This a very well-written, informative guide to combat roleplay. The guide breaks down combat roleplay and highlights factors that players should consider when performing this type of roleplay. In addition to going over basic combat, the guide also speaks about combat roleplay involving magic. Using magic in combat can be a hard thing to grasp and roleplay in a fair manner.
The Crow Flies
This post is about the long-reigning monarch Queen Elizaveta, it tells the story of her unfortunate and early demise at the hand of the treacherous Andrei. It is a prime example of a developed and layered character that provided much to the Kingdom of Haense during her reign.
Written by @Torky
Grasping
This post highlights the struggles in the position of Loras, fighting against the testing atmospheres of both his daunting mentalities, physical mutilations and the discovery of the safe sanctuary of a loved one. One of the many enjoyable reads of character experience our forums have to offer.
Written by @Tato
The Aide of The Sea
This post was written as an insight to orcish culture, a roleplay situation where mighty orcish farseers contacted the infamous spirit of the seas. The trio of Uruks faced the might of the giant beast of the waters, in a moment of panic the Uruks attempt to reason with the spirit.

COMMUNITY TEAM MONTHLY UPDATE LOG- March 2019
Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone had a great month and is ready for another. Ivory and I are back for another monthly update. This month has been quite a busy one for the team as we’ve begun to get into and start testing out some of the projects we have lined up. In addition, the team has grown quite a bit in the last month and we’ve currently reached a healthy number of members. As we’ve added members we have been able to analyze our training systems and have begun to work on improving some aspects regarding our training processes. Coming up in April we have a number of projects we are continuing to work on and some new projects in the beginning stages of beingset up. An update on the projects worked on this month will be highlighted later on in this post!
If you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know what the community team is, you can read more info about the Community Team’s policies [Here]NOTICE: Community Team is currently not reviewing applications. Applications that are up will remain open until further notice.
Community Team Roster
Monthly Application Data
Hello, Ivory here!
This month we saw 454 new applications to LOTC. 435 New Player apps, and 19 alternate accounts.
This is a huge, huge increase from last month, with an increase of 308 apps. This is attributed to the map change, with a lot of new players joining us for the start of Arcas!
Our overall acceptance rate was 71.5%, including both pending-accepted and accepted. This is slightly lower than last month (by about 4%), but can be expected with such a stark increase in the number of apps handled.
Spoiler67.8% of accepted players were from an American timezone, which is 6% more than last month. 27.7% were European, a decrease of 7% from last month. And finally, 4.5% were oceanic, an increase of 1.5%!
SpoilerNow, onto some finer details about our applications this month
As per usual, almost half (48.5%) of all accepted players applied with a human character (A decrease, actually, with 1.4% less than last month). Elves followed behind with 36.7% (Decrease by 1.7%), Dwarves with 9.2% (Increase of 1.1%), Halflings with 3.8% (An increase of 1.8%) and finally Orcs with 1.6% (Decrease of 0.4%). As you can see, we’ve had a small increase in applicants applying with the lesser-populated races!
SpoilerMonthly Team Data
This month has been full of lots of behind-the-scenes work in further establishing the community team. We’ve grown in members substantially, so a large focus has been put into creating our training policies. Our new members have been working extremely hard, and the team has handled the massive amount of applications this month in a fantastic and timely manner.
Please keep in mind that some members may have not made quota due to hiatus’, being added to the team later in the month, or are a lovely Community Content Creator and therefore not required to. (Jenny_Bobbs, Bluee, z3mos, TheIchorDruid & Reko)
SpoilerThis Month we have a Quota King!
I’d like to congratulate @Rave_Cave_marb for making King of Quota for March!
Followed somewhat closely behind by Mamabearjade, Aquaquean & Roseways

Projects of March:
New Player Guide: The new player guide has been worked on for quite some time. It is packed full of information that will help new players understand roleplay, commands, the chat system a more. Check it out here.
Application Guide: This month we updated the application guide that can be seen before someone applies. It can be seen here .
Pots and Pandits: This month we kicked off the start of this Project. Pots and Pandits is a project designed to help members of the community learn how to Combat Roleplay (CRP) and introduce villainy roleplay to the newer members of the server. The Community Members dress up as halflings who raid or bandit new players depending on the event for their pots. It’s a fun and lighthearted event and shown to be helpful to our newer players in learning how to roleplay combat. As a couple of these have been conducted we have seen where the team needs work. Currently, these projects have placed on hold until the proper training systems have been created to make sure the team is ready to perform the events well.
Player Intervention: Player Intervention is a project designed to help new and old players with their understanding of the rules. Currently this month we have only been focusing on creating the system surrounding the newer players. Instead of having these newer players get in trouble for things right off the bat, the moderation team sends them to a member of the community team in which they are tasked with helping that player understand our rules and how to do things properly on the server depending on the scenario. This system is still just getting on its feet and the team has a lot of training and work to do in the upcoming month before it is put into full swing!
Tailor’s Guild: This project has been ongoing for quite some time but has been put on the back burner as we focus on other things. The project is to help provide newer members with appropriate skins for roleplay. It is a hard task to find skins or get people to make them. Therefore we are thinking of ways in which we can continue to grow the archive and get more people involved. This project is something we wish to dive into more in the upcoming month or so.
Special Thank You!
Thanks to @Lukariatias for his work on the new player guide and application guide.
Thanks to @MamaBearJade for her hard work taking a large number of interviews and side work for training.Thank you to @rwko for all their hard work on art and graphics for our upcoming projects.
Thank you and see you next month!

Tears flowed down the cheeks of Princess Nataya as she read over her father's final will. Grasping onto her letter she looked over in nostalgia of past memories of the card games in the tavern, how she constantly asked for him to take her to a place where it was warmer and her illness would plague her so. “We’ve finally come to this land and I am feeling better. This was suppose to be the place where we could finally adventure together,” she said softly through a cracked voice. The young woman sat at the end of her bed as her tears continued to fall, wishing she could see her father one last time. “You will always be in my heart, Papa.”

I have been going through the headshops and I was hoping to see updated heads, but I was sad to have discovered there are no updated heads, at least in the animal section. So I took it up on my own to create some new animal heads. I think this will help with more RP items and decoration in general.
I had made a new Ram head, Bull head, and a Bear head. So I hope they get accepted
Hey lucas! I’ve actually been adding tons of heads to the headshop recently. Mainly in decorations, kitchen, meals, library, and farming. If you find any heads you wish to be added, please send me links and ill add them if they are appropriate.

Nataya sat on the bench in the garden with her head held in the palms of her hands. Weeping over the loss of her dear mother she would mutter repeatedly to herself, “If only I had more time.. I should’ve spent more time..“ Tears flooded down the girl’s face as she slid off the bench, collapsing onto her knees. “Please forgive me, Mother..“

Welcome!
If you’re reading this guide, it means you have successfully applied and been accepted into our server! This will take you through some important information and tips to help you adjust and settle in. LotC is incredibly complex, and the most important thing to understand is that is okay to struggle a bit at first -- we’ve all been there.
If you ever need any help, or have any questions whatsoever, reach out to a Community Team Member!
What is LotC?
LotC is a unique roleplaying experience, utilizing Minecraft as its primary platform. The server launched over seven years ago and naturally has accumulated quite a substantial basis of players and history. We’re a fairly serious roleplay community, but love to see new faces on the server, whether new or experienced!
The server incorporates both medieval and high fantasy elements, including a few mundane races (Humans, Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, etc.), magic, fantasy, creatures, and much, much more!
Rules
LotC has a few different pages of rules for different aspects of gameplay, forum use, building, pvp, and general community guidelines. It is very important that you read and understand all of these, ignorance is not an excuse for rule breaking.
If you’re confused about any of the rules or have any questions about them, reach out to a Community Team Members or a Moderator.

Intro to Roleplay
SpoilerWhat is Roleplay?
Roleplay is the portrayal of a unique character (separate from one’s IRL self
), and is the main feature of LotC. To roleplay is to interact within a fantasy world, different from our own, by means of the thoughts, actionsand speech of your ‘character’, otherwise referred to as ‘persona’. While roleplay has no clearly defined goal, its purpose could be defined as immersing into your persona, and through that developing a unique character by further shaping their personality, and fostering their unique characteristics. On LotC, roleplay can involve your in-game speech (or emoting), as well as forum posts and skins. The most important thing to understand is the difference between Roleplay (RP) and Out-of-Character (OOC). Though you control and portray them, you are not your character! Things that happen through roleplay are not personal OOC slights, nor are they the be-all and end-all.
SpoilerCharacter Development
One of the most significant parts of roleplay is the development of your character. Everything they see,
do, hear, or experience, adds to their overall appearance, personality, health, and mindset. The more things you do on a certain character, the more that they are able to be developed into a unique and individual person within this fantasy world. Allow experiences to shape who your character becomes — you do not always control what happens to them, and that is one of the best ways to roleplay! Your character does not know everything you know, so allow them to learn things through interaction with other characters, events, and the world around them (magic, books, and etc).1SpoilerRoleplay Tropes
Protagonist Complex
One of, if not the most important things to understand, when roleplaying on LotC, is that you are not the server protagonist, and are not the main focus of all roleplay. Yes, your character can have good traits,
however in the overall scheme of the server, they are not the central ‘hero’. Allow your character to make decisions that are not right, allow themfail , and struggle, even if they ultimately succeed.Evil Characters
Playing good-aligned characters, and even those who are relatively neutral, can get boring sometimes, or maybe the ‘evil’ side of the spectrum is just more your speed. Villainous characters are a major part of most stories, and can be a lot of fun to
play, and to interact with. With that in mind, however, it is important to remember that it is okay to lose, and being the unbeatable Lord-of-Evil isn’t fun for anyone but the person playing that part. Similarly, bandit roleplay can be good, but going out of your way to keep therp short and choppy makes the whole experience bad for the person you’re robbing.Marysue-
ism No one is perfect, and the best characters are those who have depth and development, those who change and grow over time. Perfect characters are those who cause people to sigh and roll their eyes, no one wants to deal with Mr. Know-it-all, or Mr. Master-warrior who can parkour with unmatched grace across rooftops, not to mention that the latter borders on power-gaming. Remain open to creative ways to display flaws in your character, one eye or a disabled limb might
see off-putting at first, but once you get into it you realize that it can be a really enjoyable character quirk.Mental Instability
While this type of roleplay sometimes goes hand-in-hand with villainous roleplay, having a mentally unstable character doesn’t mean that they’re a cunning psychopath or murderous monster. Have you ever crossed paths with someone who just seems a little
. . .well, off? Characters with unique and well-thought-out mental hindrances can add a lot to a roleplaysituation, and can prove to be some of the most enjoyable story experiences. The biggest point to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t dramatize it, remain subtle but open to allowing the craziness to flow when the time is right, just don’t overdo it, or people won't take you seriously.8SpoilerGetting Involved in Groups
There are many, many, many ways to get involved in roleplay groups across the server. Groups are a fantastic way to introduce you into active and continual roleplay — a great way to develop characters! From
nations, to businesses, to guard forces and schools, there’s something for every character. For an updated nation list, check the LotC Wiki.
Check out the #rp-opportunities channel in the New Player Discord to find roleplay opportunities and groups.
Your Persona
When creating your first persona, the server will take you through the simple process of putting down basic character information on your ‘card’.
These are some useful information commands to use after you have created your card.
SpoilerCharacter Card
This is the way in which people can see your persona’s basic information to roleplay off of. These are the visible features of your character, (age, gender, race, and desc) the only exception to this being the name of the character, which you must find out through roleplay.
These are some other good things to add to your card once you have created your basic persona:
/persona age
This will add the age to your character card, as seen above. Your character’s age will change automatically as the time on the server progresses. ‘/persona clearage’ will remove this.
/persona
addinfo This will add another line of text to your character card. It is here where you can describe other physical details of your persona. ‘/persona
clearinfo ’ will remove this./persona prefix
You can also add a prefix to your persona, which will show up before your character’s name in chat. These are commonly used to very briefly list an injury, major physical detail, accent, or title.
SpoilerCEX Additions
CEX persona additions add more information to your card, and will show up under ‘click for more’. You can view the full CEX menu by using /
cex , but here are a few helpful ones:/
cex art <url>This will link your character artwork on your card.
/cex bio <url>

These are the channels in which you do your roleplay, through dialogue and emotes. It’s a relatively easy system, but don’t worry, everyone takes a little time to adapt to it.
SpoilerEmoting
-
What is an emote and how do I make one?
- An emote is what you write to describe your character’s actions. Emotes can take place at the same time as speech or can stand alone.
If you want only to use dialogue, begin your text with a quotation mark, “, type what you wish for your character to say, and then finish it with another quotation mark, ”. If you were to type:
“I’d like to bake a pie today, John.” when you hit enter, it will appear in chat like this:
To make an environment, or 3rd person, emote, which begins with [!] instead of your character’s name, start your text with **, before typing. In your text bar, it’ll appear as, **As she pulls the pie from the hot oven, she gasps at the burning sensation on her fingers. When you hit enter, it will appear like this:
If you want to use both an emote and dialogue at once, begin with either an asterisk, *, or a quotation mark“. Here are two examples
. -
If you begin with dialogue, you should type with this format in your text bar, “I’m very tired,” She says, turning on her heel to make her way to her bedroom. And when you hit enter, it will appear like this:
- If you begin with an emote, you should type with this format in your text bar, turns on her heel and begins to make her way to her bedroom, “I’m very tired.”* And when you hit enter, it will appear like this
SpoilerRoleplay Commands
Here are the commands to enter each roleplay channel.
-
#RP
- This is the most common roleplay channel, which has a radius of 20 blocks.
-
#Quiet or #Q
- This is often used for roleplay with small groups in a public setting. For example, you’d use this if you were sitting with a small group in a busy tavern. It has a radius of 8 blocks and can NOT be heard through walls or other solid blocks. Quiet is also known as Undertone in-game.
-
#Whisper or #W
- This is mostly used for 1-on-1 roleplay in public or private spaces. It has a radius of 2 blocks. It can NOT be heard through walls or other solid blocks.
-
#Shout or #S
- This channel is used when your character is shouting, or something loud happens. It has a radius of 64 blocks.

SpoilerFreely Playable Races
LotC’s freely playable races that players can apply as or play at any time.
Humans
Elves
Orcs
Dwarves
Halflings
SpoilerCreature Application Races
LotC’s special races, these require a Creature Application to play. Some of these cannot be outright applied for, because you need to be made into one in-roleplay. Kha, Hou-
zi , Ologs, and Ghosts can be applied for without prior roleplay. Creatures like Golems, Atronachs, and etc require prior roleplay to be applied for (e.g., the golem needs to be made in roleplay by agolemancer ).Hou-

3Conflict in Roleplay
There are systems in place to ensure combat and pvp work in a fair and roleplay-friendly way. When you enter combat, the defending party is able to choose whether the fight will be carried out in combat roleplay or ordinary minecraft pvp. This is called defender default. It’s important to note that the defender is the one that did not initiate the fight physically. The only exception to this rule is if one of the parties is on guard duty in their own city or settlement, and you have broken a law in their Nation. This is called guard default.
SpoilerCombat Roleplay
Combat roleplay (often referred to as ‘
crp ’) is a type of roleplay scenario in which two parties are physically fighting. It is very important duringcrp to be mindful ofpowergaming . You must always roleplay fighting ability according to your character’s age, abilityand health. In the end, combat roleplay is only enjoyable for both parties if it is done fairly. Do not expect to be able to dodge every attack, and be sure to emote any injuries sustained.
If you find yourself in combat roleplay and are unsure if you or the other party are
powergaming , please make a /modreq for assistance from a moderator.SpoilerPlayer-vs-Player Combat & Commands
If
pvp is called by the defender or guard, you will mechanically fight to determine the outcome. PVP can be onlarger scale (e.g., raids, battles, wars, and et cetera), or as little as two people. Here are some commands that you might find useful during
pvp .Statusing Using a status allows you to prevent friendly fire between your allies and
recognise who is on your side duringpvp . Your status appears as acoloured symbol that hovers beneath your nametag in game.To use a status, simply type ‘/status [status name]’ in chat. Choose one of the statuses shown in the image below. Please note that all of your allies will have to use this command and pick the same status as you in order for this to work properly. You can’t hit somebody who has the same status as you, so make sure to choose a different one from your opponents.
Parties
The party system is also a great way to group up in combat. Parties allow players to use their party’s chat channel, set a status that will apply for each of the players who are in the party and set a leader who controls the party settings.
Once you’re in a party, you can use the command /pty to speak in party chat. A full list of commands is shown in the image below.
Countdown
‘/countdown’ allows you to set a five-second countdown timer. This is useful because it gives players a fair way to know when
pvp begins. Please note that the defender gets to choose whether or not combat will be fought inpvp orrp combat.Show Health
Another useful command is ‘/
showhealth ’. This will display other players’ health bar underneath their name tag.7Character Death
When your character dies in LotC you have more than one option. While many players feel that it is a point of honour to kill their characters off permanently after they get killed, this is not required under normal circumstances.
The next two sections will cover the options you have if your character dies.
SpoilerPermanent Kill
Many players choose to PK (Permanently Kill) their characters if they die during roleplay. If you PK your character, you have only seven days to reverse your decision before the character is dead irreversibly. The only exception to this is if the death resulted from
a lore enforced PK clause or if your character committed suicide. In either of those cases, you cannot reverse your character’s death.Nobody is allowed to force you to PK your character other than Moderators or Admins, although if you agree to a staff PK clause, you are consenting to your character being PK’d. PK clauses agreed on with other players are not enforced by staff, however, it is usually frowned upon to break them.
SpoilerMonk Resurrection
If you don’t want to PK your character, it’s entirely acceptable to let them be resurrected by the monks. In this case, your character re-spawns at Cloud Temple after the monks have nursed them back to health with no memory of what happened in the last real-life hour.
It’s important to note that you are not allowed to reference that the monks will revive your character before your character has died. For example, you can’t tell someone when you’re dying that you will see them again once the monks have revived them.
Resources & Building
Building and gathering resources is not at all necessary for the average player because things such as food, weapons and even houses are generally bought or traded for, much the same as in real-life. If, however, you feel that your character would rather go off into the wild to build their own house or you just need to grab a few items to make something, you might find this section helpful.
SpoilerGathering Resources
Most resources can be gathered using the resource pits provided at Cloud Temple. The resource pits are located inside the cave at the end of the path directly to your right as you reach the bottom of the stairs on your way out of the main temple building. Within the cave are two caverns. Most blocks can be found in these. If the resource pit you need to use is empty then make a /modreq stating which pit needs to be refilled.
Ores such as iron and gold can be gathered in the cloud temple mine. The mine is located to the right of the top of the staircase as you enter the first cavern. Wheat can be harvested from the farm at cloud temple.
Resources that cannot be found in the mining pits can usually be bought from the cloud temple marketplace. The marketplace is on the left of the road that runs out of cloud temple.
SpoilerBuilding
Free building is limited to an area known as ‘the wildlands’ on the fringe of the world. The wildlands is a place where anybody can build anything (as long as it complies with the server’s freebuild rules) and it isn’t ruled by any nation or government. Note that builds which are inactive or do not meet LotC’s standard of quality will be removed after a warning.
Gathering resources within the wildlands is allowed, although you cannot leave things like floating trees or physics defying blocks around the place. Its best to avoid mining in the wildlands if you can, and use the resource pits at cloud temple instead.
Once you are a resident in a nation or charter, you can ask a steward or region owner (RO) of that settlement for building permissions. This means you can make minor changes within the area such as adding furniture to the house you live in.
SoulstonesSoulstones are a system in LotC which allows us to quickly travel between different places. It’s a form of teleportation, utilising an item called a soulstone (Sometimes abbreviated to ‘ss’)
SpoilerSS Commands
You can bring up the soulstones command menu by typing, /ss. When you shift and right click whilst holding your ss, it changes between the various different pillars. You will unlock more ss slots as you play more upon your character.
-
/ss claim
- Claims your soulstone, placing it into your inventory.
-
/ss bind [slot #]
- Binds your soulstone to a pillar. You must be looking at the pillar to do so.
-
/ss release [slot #]
- Releases your soulstone from the selected slot.
-
/ss block
- Blocks nearby players from using their soulstone, commonly used when people are attempting to escape roleplay or disputes because using your Soulstone to leave roleplay is not allowed unless agreed upon OOCly.
-
/ss study
- Tells you the name and members of a soulstone pillar you are facing.
-
/ss banish [name]
- Banishes a player from a soulstone pillar you own.
-
/ss revoke
- Removes your soulstone from your inventory, can be brought back at any time using /ss claim. Alternatively, throw the item out of your inventory manually.
Time Progression
Time is enhanced on LotC for the purposes of aging in roleplay. One real-life day equates to one in-game month, one week being an in-game year. There are seven different months (aka Seeds), those being:
SpoilerTime Progression
Wednesday -- Snow’s Maiden
Thursday -- Malin’s Welcome
Friday -- The First Seed
Saturday -- The Grand Harvest
Sunday -- Sun’s Smile
Monday -- The Amber Cold
Tuesday -- The Deep Cold
When referring to IRL time passing in-game, players use the term ‘Elven Day’, or ‘Elven Week’, and so on, given the knowledge that Elves age much slower than Humans, despite the passing of an IRL day not actually being equivalent to a day in the life of an Elf.
Humans refer to IRL time passing in-game using the terms ‘Saint’s Day’ or ‘Saint’s Week’, and so on.
Staff Teams
LotC was once a platform operated by a significant number of staff teams, each with their own specific and nuances duties. Following a staff-wide reform in late 2018 and early 2019, LotC staff has been condensed into five well organized teams wish slashed bureaucracy and some shared responsibilities. The teams as they are today are, save for the Admins and Mods, broken up into subsections that each handle their own specific set of duties, though this does not mean that a team member is incapable of helping you just because it isn’t directly their job to do so. You are free to ask any member of staff for help, because if they cannot assist you correctly they will pass on your request to someone who can.
LotC’s staff teams are as follows:
SpoilerAdministration
Admins (identified with the prefix [Admin] in-game) are the topmost staff members of LotC. They handle all the server administrative duties, care for the welfare of the server, and are the leaders of the staff teams, respectively. The Admins shouldn’t be one’s go-to staff to contact immediately, as due to their responsibilities they only handle special-circumstance issues.
SpoilerDevelopment Team
Technicians (identified with the [Tech] prefix in-game) are the creators of our plugins and the overseers of the technical aspects of the server. It is their duty to maintain our various plugins, making changes and updates where necessary while otherwise handling bug fixes when issues arise.
Designers (identified with the [D] prefix in-game) are the world-developers for large and overarching changes to the map, and otherwise are the creators of significant, grand-scale builds on LotC. Unlike Builders, Designers have a much broader canvas to work with, and typically do not build for story purposes, but rather for world-wide events and map changes.
Builders (identified with the [D] prefix in-game) are the designers of
minecraft creations for event and non-event purposes. Whether this involves builds for server-wide or Story-lead standalone events and event lines, adding onto Cloud Temple, or otherwise, our Builders are a capable group of creative people who consistently work to be innovative and unique in their work. For concerns with malfunctioning plugins or other technical issues, issue /

Additionally, they are the gatekeepers of LotC, aiding in the handling of applications.
Mentors (identified with the prefix [C] in-game) are the mentors of new players, especially those who are unfamiliar with roleplay or the style of roleplay and lore that LotC utilizes. Additionally, they are the gatekeepers of LotC, aiding in the handling of applications.
Content Creators (identified with the prefix [C] in-game) are the creators of digital content for LotC. Their work comes in many
forms, and is used broadly to aid in the work of other staff teams, and the community in general. Typically, Content Creators make YouTube videos for warclaims, teasers, trailers, and otherwise, as well as creating art for the forums and wiki. In addition to the aforementioned, these staff review and track player Magic, Creature, and Teaching applications.
Actors (identified with the prefix {S} in-game) are the providers of highly detailed and quality story based events designed to provide an added immersive experience to the playerbase. Storylines and long-term events will be handled by teams of Story Event staff who will work to give the players involved depth to go along with each encounter they experience.

What criteria do you look for in a person when selecting:
- Interviewed player of the month.
- Best performing staff member of the month.
a. Selecting the community spotlight is pretty difficult cause its not like i can breathe down everyone thats online’s neck to see what they’re up to. However, right now I am trying to pick a person from each race/group every month and looking for someone who has been really good whether itd be taking initiative to make nice rp experiences with others, actively helping new players and helping them get integrated into the server, and helping other people learn more about the server and aspects of lore etc.
b. When it comes to the staff members I look for individuals that have been going a bit above and beyond in that particular month. Or someone we have seen that is consistently working hard, actively participating in discussions and projects etc.

Hello everybody,
Welcome to Arcas. I hope you all are enjoying the map and are having a great time exploring. In addition, I hope you had a great time on the transition map. Shout out to all the builders who took part in the creation of the temp map, Serrimor and Xarkly for doing events throughout the transition. In addition, another big shout out and thank you to all those who have worked on Arcas over the past year. February has been an extremely busy month for everyone as we’ve been preparing the final touches for 7.0. Trendy Feedback
Our crack team of gobos compiles, analyses, and critiques our feedback forums for the top-echelon of community suggestions. We’ve picked out some of the most unique, noteworthy, and civil articles from this month.
Promote Good Combat RP, Please.
AgentMemory laments a roleplay encounter where they suffered a loss following a one-emote attack and the following mechanical combat. In the community guidelines, we suggest that only by leading by example can we fix the issues we see in this server. We recommend that instead of deferring poor roleplay to mechanical methods—please assist your fellow player and foster a mature and helpful roleplay environment. If you encounter rule-breaking roleplay or poor emoting, help out the poor lads and show them the appropriate behaviour. If it doesn’t work out, please seek out Staff assistance. Community & Moderation Staff would love to assist in these cases.
How to Calm the Snow Elf Uprising
Snow Elves and several other selectable persona races were cleared during a technical reorganization of subraces. Snow elven leadership wrote regarding the matter and made their position clear: they hold that this change would be significantly damage their race activity. The Administration will consider additional ways nations can recruit new and dependable folk without relying on a tag, as not all future nations would have this privilege. In addition, we will hold on to the discussion regarding what signifies a subrace and whether we should be thinking in terms of “subrace” altogether, and perhaps get rid of the term for something generally more practical.
In this post, Chromie speaks out about what they believe is ‘creativity’ what the rules refer to as ‘glitching’. We agree, the actions themselves are not so much ‘glitching’ as they are a clever use of Minecraft mechanics. However, in the spirit of roleplay, we disagree that such entry or use of mechanics is in line with our philosophy. We may investigate additional ways for raiding parties to obtain entry, but promise nothing yet.
Discord widget & forum cleaning
This is a short post which brings the need for the discord widget to be returned to the forums in order for our discord to be easily accessible players, especially those who are new to the server. In addition, this post sparked some comments concerned the outdated front page. All of this we are aware of and are we are currently working towards having the front page revamped as it is well overdue. In addition, the widget was added back to the forums!

Aeldrin
This individual has been selected as our Community Spotlight for their good work teaching players about lore regarding Snow Elves and have been a great help to our newer players. Your kindness and help towards the community is greatly appreciated and is what makes our community grow and thrive! Here is a little interview we had with Aeldrin.
Interview
Tell us about yourself and your history on LoTC.
Aeldrin: Quite an open-ended question haha. Well, I'll just go over my history on LotC I suppose. I joined mid-Asulon as a random human peasant and soon found myself in the Order of the White Rose. I did that for about 6 months, before running off and making a dwarf b/c I thought a certain player named skippy was a pretty cool dude. I played a dwarf with Urguan up until mid-Anthos, when I went back to the humans to play a noble at the invitation of Aetosion and Harold. Ultimately, it was during this period that I decided I wanted to go off and do my own thing. I saw the state of Malinor and chalked it up to bad leadership, so I began the several year-long pushes for introducing Snow Elves that culminated in our subracialhood nearly a year or so ago. Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm fairly passionate about the Snow Elves - both as an rp group and as an ooc group of friends. They've made these past few years a blast through better or worse, and despite playing a bandit character here or there, I've mained a Snow Elf ever since !
What is like to play a Snow Elf and what is it like being apart of the Snow Elven Community?
Aeldrin: Playing a Snow Elf is certainly the best experience I've had on the server, but of course I'm biased because I've been allowed to tailor Snow Elven rp to my personal tastes. It's not for everyone, admittedly. Due to such a long history of rp conflicts, we keep almost entirely to ourselves but get plenty of visitors. I think I left Fenn about twice on my Snow Elf for the entirety of Atlas. Fortunately, I've had the company of a lot of great rpers there. Military-oriented RP is big in Fenn, as are slice of life and political rp. Religious rp will become much more relevant on Arcas as well, with the release of some new writings. Being apart of the Snow Elven community is a lot like being part of one large family. We're definitely one of the closest communities on LotC, and we're very welcoming of bringing new players into that fold. Whether it's LotC, or bedwars, or just chatting, there are just about always a dozen people in our voice chats. Obviously I'm biased here lol, but all of those guys are close friends and great people.
Lastly, what are you excited for going into Arcas?
Aeldrin: A change of scenery is always really nice. Personally, I think I'm most excited for having Fenn be about 5 minutes away from the Cloud Temple, instead of a 30-minute hike. I think that will do wonders for our rp. I'm very proud of our new city and the work our builders put into it, and encourage anyone who's interested to check out the trailer we recently launched for it. Each map has seen the Fennic community grow in number, so I'm excited for all the fresh faces this map will bring, and looking forward to some good rp!

Combat Roleplay- The Game of Loss
This is a brilliant post written by PuddleMancerPro regarding Combat Roleplay or CRP. They go through a lot of details pertaining to this type of roleplay including, losing, unfairness, movement, and they gave great tips to help improve your roleplay. CRP is an area of roleplay that many players find difficult or have frustrations with, therefore this post is very helpful and I highly suggest everyone give it a read. Thank you so much for your work and we can’t wait to see what more comes from Puddle!
Roleplay Spotlight
When we think roleplay often we immediately look to our fantastic Minecraft experience. Nonetheless! We are proud of you, our authors, who produce innumerable works—none the lesser, many are amusing, stimulating, and impactful. We’ve chosen one among the many creative posts this month.
The Lady of Serpentwoods
This is a short well-written roleplay post by Luxury about their characters transition to 7.0. They share the experiences and thoughts of their character leaving behind her home, memories, and possessions as they were forced out of the lands of Atlas. It is a nice little read that I suggest taking a glance at!
Overall February was a good month for us as we worked hard putting together 7.0 for all of you to enjoy. I am sure March is going to be another month full of hard work and good content. I hope everyone is having a great time on Arcas. Apologies for being a little bit late with this one, its been a busy week for me. I hope you enjoyed and we will see you all again for another community newsletter next month!
Have fun, take care, and thank you all,
LotC Administration

COMMUNITY TEAM MONTHLY UPDATE LOG- February 2019
Introduction
Hello Friends! I hope everyone is enjoying themselves during this transition period. Myself and my wonderful Manager Ivory are here for the first every Community Team Monthly Update! Many of this may look familiar to you but we have a bit more to include and these updates will be ever-changing as some new systems are being implemented to the team in the upcoming months! February has been a good month for the team as they started getting settled into their new titles. However many of the big changes have recently come at the end of the month and you will see more throughout March. As 7.0 kicks off, the team is also kicking off a bunch of projects and content creation for Arcas that will be spoken about later on in this update. ?
If you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know what the community team is, you can read more info about the Community Team’s policies [Here]
@Ivoryyy_ here ?
Buckle down because this might be longer than usual!
Community Team Roster
Monthly Application Data
This month we saw 146 new applications to LOTC. 131 New Player apps, and 15 alternate accounts.
This is a decrease from last month, though that is expected due to the awkward time with school etc. We anticipate that from now the numbers will continue to grow, especially shooting up around June/July due to school break. From these 131 applications, we saw an overall acceptance rate of 75.5%. This is an increase of about 2% from last month, which is great to see! We’ve got lots of new resources being worked on for applicants, so this is only expected to rise/
Going into more detail, 38.9% of applications were accepted with no changes needing to be made, 36.6% were accepted after being placed on pending for changes. 16.8% were denied after being placed on pending for changes, and 7.6% were denied straight away.
Spoiler
61.9% of all applications this month were American Players, 35.1% were European, and 3% Oceanic.
SpoilerNow, onto the more interesting stuff.
Humans were once again this month the most popularly applied race, taking 49.5% of all applications (An increase of about 2% from January). Elves followed behind with 38.4%, an increase of only 0.1% compared to last month. Dwarves, Orcs and Halflings held the remainder, with 8.1%, 2%, and 2% respectively. That is an increase for dwarves, however a decrease for orcs and halflings.
SpoilerMonthly Team Data
This month has been kind of crazy. We started out the month with the team switchover, and since then have been growing our team and training new members quite a lot. We’re incredibly happy with all of the new members- application response times have been lowered significantly! WIth these statistics also note that members were added later in the month, others were on hiatus, and our lovely Community Content Creators (Jenny_Bobbs, Bluee & Reko) are not required to make quota ?
Spoiler
This Month we’re back to a Quota Queen!
I’d like to congratulate @Roseways for making Queen of Quota for February, with 20.55% of all applications this month!
Followed behind by Aquaquean, EtherealPVP, Cornivore & Jenny_Bobbs

What on earth is a Community Content Creator?
These lovely people are the central media creators for the community who are tasked with using their creative abilities to work together and create videos, images, streams, or any kind of media-related content for the community. So far they have been doing a wonderful job and have made some very lovely pieces that have been featured on our twitter! The first of the pieces was the tailor created by Jenny_Bobbs and Blue featuring art by Rwk0! They have a number of projects in store for the future keep your eyes peeled for that. Currently, w have a varied little team- with two amazing videographers/editors/media slaves and a fantastic digital artist. If you have any experience in media and wish to contribute to this section of the team, feel free to make a Community Team Application!

Cloud Temple Monks, and you.
You may have seen many of our lovely Community Team Members sporting monks skins and characters. This is one of our biggest projects that is launching for 7.0! CT Monks are going to be played entities by the Community Team Members whose duties are to assist players, primarily new players with getting acclimated to Lord of The Craft. There are Guides which are tasked with the responsibilities of greeting new players, getting them set up with basic commands, guiding them around Arcas, and getting them situated into the proper settlement which suits their interests. There are also Mentors, these members of the Community Team are tasked with the responsibility of helping new and old players alike how to further improve certain aspects of roleplay such as villainy. For new players, they have the Pots and Pandits initiatives they will be conducting in addition to something new called Player Intervention where they will be mentoring new and older players when it comes to first offense rule breaking or repetitive rulebreaking to help them understand the rules and to prevent them from getting into trouble in the future. There is more to come about this project as it is being fleshed out.
We’ll be releasing more information as to the specifics about CT monks a little later, and any special considerations regarding rules. Until then- feel free to interact with us, and if you see a new player needing assistance that you are not able to provide, just grab a Community Staff Member using /creq.
New Players in Arcas
This is just a short little bit I thought I’d add. Joining LotC and adapting to the very unique playerbase, roleplay culture and lore is incredibly difficult to begin with. On top of that, joining us whilst we’re in a period of transition from map to map is even harder. Please just be extra helpful to the confused new souls during this time and if you see anyone struggling please make a /creq to contact a Community Team Member!
Projects of February:
-Introduction of CT Monks
-The New Player Discord
-Pots and Pandits
-Player Intervention
-Comprehensive Application Guide
-The LOTC Skin Archive & Tailors Guild (If interested- shoot me (Ivory#8860) a discord PM!)
