I have tried for two years, and continue efforts, to defeat the stereotype of 2016-2018 era Orcs on this server. As soon as anything about orcs as a community is mentioned the same points are flung into conversation over and over again by various outsiders who rarely if ever interact with orcs. New players can get discord PMed and told awful things about the community because they made their first person an orc or goblin. It's hard to beat that with internal changes while outsiders refuse to see past things that happened over half a decade ago and actively push these stereotypes because of it.

I want to preface this with the fact that if you want to have an indepth detailed discussion, you are free to contact me on Discord (@ mcvdk) as I’ll most likely miss further comments on this status, considering I get a thousand pings a day. 

Love you both and the work you do. Keep it up. This is simply my perspective which may or may not aid you in your quest. No harm intended.

Now I would argue you are both focusing on the wrong message of the response above considering nearly most, if not all, of your response was in defense of the section which mentions prior orcish toxicity; I specifically refer to past perceptions and formerly found for the reason that I wholeheartedly believe the orcs HAVE changed over the last few years. Though considering both of your responses this continues to cause issues, which was my train of thought as well, and therefore I want to reiterrate my final point of the section: “but I would argue there is a distinctive importantance in marketing orcs in this newer ‘rebranded’ version.”

New onto the point I was trying to make - I do not doubt the orcs have culture, nor do I doubt shamanism has culture, and I am very aware of the deep ties to older server lore which orcs hold because I used to play an orc due to that. This culture is simply not evident compared to a lot of other cultures in my entirely honest opinion. This is the reason I refer to “insignificance” and not because I hold a grudge with the orcs (I have in fact tried to get involved with orcs over the last few years) yet there is an evident lack of awareness OUTSIDE of the orcish community of the culture significance compared to other cultures. (Best example thereof being the humans - everyone knows of Canonism, at the very least in periphery vision). 
 

I think a large amount of this is due to forum activity and the fact the human or elven communities post more culturally relevant posts than orcs (or at least the perception thereof) which may be something the orcs can work on. Here I do not mean to post a singular culture post and call it a day - but do expansion over multiple posts, stories related to those, ect.

Finally I do not think it is fair to claim anyone is lying about the experience of theirs. Everyone has had an individual experience, some more traumatising than others, and everyone is allowed to hold that experience close to their heart. We both know there has been eras of orcs with less fortunate ideologies and people yet the orcs have largely overcome that - I don’t think the issue is that people lie about the experience they’ve had, clearly enough people have experienced for this to be issue, yet more so that the current orcish community hasn’t truly managed to push through that thought of rebrand to those who used to be orcs but more so has focused on newer orcs, which honestly is fair enough and a decent approach but unless the community actively tries to push the thought of “a new orcish era” to the people who left due to the old, then complaining about people discussing the past becomes somewhat useless. 

The general stigma against orcs isn't going to be 'toxicity' in any form. Elves have the most groomers by far, humans have always had the least desirable and scummy ooc communities. The major OOC dissuasion for orcs is the insincerity of their thematic. For years and year the WAR NATION was absolutely humiliated in every major conflict that they looked at. Krugmar bounced from tile to tile many times after being totally stomped out in a war, only permitted to reestablish themselves because the orcs are a staple race. Similar to how the halflings have only been allowed to scrape by on meager activity by staff mercy. This is despite all of my best efforts throughout my entire time on the server - I spent my entire time fighting with Krugmar in losing wars and trying to conjure up halfling activity. But it's the reality. People see through the bullshit. And this perspective isn't to say that Orcs should steer away from being a hyper-militarized psuedo-kratocracy ethnostate, it's absolutely their niche. However it's not for everybody - particularly the standard LotC player who probably just wants to sit in a city square while in a discord call and OOCly hoard magics on 5 shelved characters. Numbers are great, but not at the cost of selling out the Orc identity. 

Instead, focus on selling these outsiders on an Orcish vision. Fight the baby minded stigma against PVP, make Krugmar's first and foremost mission to finish Krug's work and hunt spooks undead/black magi/Iblees spawn, let the Orcs be a hub of toxic masculinity (because it's fun and fun draws players in), rebrand away from being a WAR NATION until you can actually meaningfully subjugate other nations, strip shamanism of combat power and social prestige so as to disincentivize outsiders who would wish to try and hoard or abuse it, and end the focus on clan identities otherwise you'll always have orc players infighting and building resentment towards each other.

Unban Wud and don't change things to appeal to the repugnant playerbase that this server has to offer.

@SquakHawkIs there any good reason beyond me being NL? I applied months before I was NL or before wolfkite was even targoth. A hunch that M4nna would disappear as Rex during the peak of his reign doesn't make any sense. 

@ScreamingDingoWhat policy?  There are tons of groups that have ST or staff involvement in them, whether as just members or as pocket staff. You're literally in the Du Loc chat with a bunch of other ST and the new settlement has received a ton of ST support .

I'd love to do stuff as NL but currently 

-> War rules are broken

-> I can't do events regarding the spirits or any significant dynamism because of the embargo

-> Can't add anything new to try and improve the current state of shamanism, and the current shaman ST is more focused on druidism then shamanism.

-> I'm 0/5 for asking for ST help even though I've been promised multiple different ST, including people literally in the Du Loc chat who have fed the group events. 

The amount of bias and excuses I've gotten is ridiculous.  You say its used as backdrops for massive story events but I don't think the orcs have had an event with even a lesser spirit involved in over a year.  I'd love to have cool massive story event narratives but you've been actively strong-arming and hampering those efforts.

I'm an NL for no more then 20-30 people, why would I not allowed to do both when Malaise, Keefy, Bhased. and a large chunk of people within leadership chats are either staff or have staff currently helping them with events?  Why deny every orc ST?

You dont get ST or LT support if you have none in your charter. Nobody of them cares.

Always has been always will be. There are prob 2 STs that do events for other people.

Chase got removed from ST as NL, Xarkly got removed from ST as NL. It's something that we have acknowledged and done quite frequently and is something that we follow across staff and have for a long while. Me being in Du Loc chat does nothing, they are a small settlement that an ET likes to base some of their events out of, that's it. Saying any further bias is quite unjustified. You can do everything regarding the spirits with events, we don't stop you there. The embargo is to stop any new lore additions being made around the spirits/deities, not halting the current ones accepted.

There are not tonnes of groups that have ST support, I'll tell you this because we have realistically about 5 ET atm. Du Loc got alot of original concessions because the last people who ran an eventline in it, destroyed it completely with no mercy and basically displaced the playergroup for two months without a build or place to even settle in. Majority of ST have absolutely no clue about shamanism, and so do majority of players. I'm stopping nothing from letting orcs apply, but I'm stopping you as the NL. There are others in your community surely.

This isn't some giant conspiracy and I do not know why I'm entertaining it. I shouldn't have to defend myself being in one chat where I enjoy the playerbase and aren't just harassed with admin questions constantly.

What about all the new orcs joining currently? Just let em join other clans?

I’d wait until 7.0 because you’ll have a lot of players new and old join back, and some will look into the orcs. At that time, if you are active on the forums and in-game, you can attract a lot more people than you could right now.

Wrong personas? There are no wrong personas. It's literally any random person who then takes an orc skin. Why they were so evil to tp people around? Because they were doing staff work. They got their homies to play the orcs. They were likely just vibing in VC for the video.

Like, you're going around speculating so much... when will you bring evidence that they bandited? I too always tp people for staff things. To get them out of holes, or to ensure they quickly get X so I can properly do a paste...

There's so many things you're doing, but you could have just asked them.

@JihnynyThe recording of the racial videos started in mid October. When exactly Orlanth was working on the details, I do not know. It could easily be solved by looking at the archived channel - which only admins can do.

This situation in question regarding pex usage was brought up to me during the time by Zacho, and I can indeed confirm that it was used for the correct intended Media purposes after an investigation alongside Zacho was conducted and talks with Orlanth at the time to confirm this fact. In the future, feel free to contact me with concerns about my team members. 

I had the exact same problem a while back. I can't remember exactly what I did, but I'm pretty sure I used a free nitro trial to boost the LotC server to get an extra persona slot. Then I got my stuff off of it and deleted it I think.

deleting spare personas didnt unlock the third slot, its the third slot i need unlocked

That's strange, those are what Admin told me to do when I had the same issue and that one worked. I didn't try the other

Agreed, Sexual FTB is unneeded, and I am speaking as someone who was led into a scenario using it in my first week on the server. Even if it doesn't lead to grooming (which it often does) the idea is still uncomfortable and unnecessary.

Well, what I loved about the orcs in Aegis was that we had a very tight-knit family feeling to the RP. There maybe weren’t a lot of us, but we were always hanging together and doing fun, wacky stuff like building obstacles courses, giant cacti, setting up toll booths along the roads, and just hanging out and having a good time. 

Idk what the orcs are like now, but that feeling of closeness is what kept me with the orcs for a long time.

New is the wrong word, I simply mean a race either had, or got a damage resistance buff, and yet there are races still waiting for bugfixes/changes.

This is pretty heretical... but I'd love to see an orc group break out of the monoculture and in some part or completely: not worship spirits, not speak Blah, not be tribal, etc. Orcs with a fresh idea. The repercussions of it, being hunted as whitewash, that's all fine and dandy but I've seen it done so little. Too little.

Thats cool, but i was moreso talking about player-run events, I don’t really think one eventline is reflective of the state of the events on the server. In the times I’ve been on the server for this map(and to some extent the map before) I’ve never really seen any eventlines to the same extent. I get staff reforming, drama, and the cycling out of a lot of crucial members, but I think if there’s a void in the quality and variety of events, it’d be really easy to give players the ability to communicate to the server about the events they’re running. Just a thought.
